My iPod nano is not responding. Pronouce it dead or no?

I own a black 8gb ipod nano 2gb for about a year now. Today, while I was jamming to my music, it shuts off on me for no reason. I tried the reset and all of that but no feedback. It doesn't even charge nor connects to iTune anymore, just a blank screen...

  • Ipod Nano Totally not responding.

Just got my nano 4 days ago. It froze on me this morning. Tried all the 5Rs, not responding. Tried to reset, not responding. Tried all the troubleshooting advice not responding.
Hook up to computer, it is too frozen to want to make any contact whatsover to the computer, hence also not responding.
I've tried to 5Rs... I tried to restore, but I can't restore when the Nano is still frozen and not communicating with the computer.
    Advice please!!!!

you can try letting your battery discharge. Let the battery die, and once it does, connect it to your cpu. Or take it to your nearest apple store, they may replace it.
this link may not help, but i'll give it to you anyway:

  • Ipod nano will not respond. WHY?

I took my nano out to use it not too long ago and when I turned it on it flickered on turned off. My battery had just been charged and I can't think of anytime when it may have been smashed. Now it won't turn on and isn't responding to any of the 5rs! I'm confused and I havn't been able to find any help! If anyone knows what possibly could be wrong or what I should do, the help would be much apreciated!

And to add to the craziness, I can plug my iPod mini into the same usb port, using the same usb cord as I tried with the nano, and it worked fine for the mini. So something has to be wrong with the nano.

I have tried messing with the hold switch, it does respond with the lock symbol on and off. I have reset it several times with power on and off. It is recognized in itunes and I restored it there. The click wheel is non-responsive.

My ipod nano is not recognized in itunes on my computer, when it has in the past. How do I fix this problem?

I would think, Twins1995, that if we are having the problem, others are as well. Hopefully, Apple will shortly issue a follow-up software release to fix the problem. Or is that just wishful thinking on my part.
It would be helpful, if there were some kind of work-around in the interim, so we can use our devices. Pretty frustrating when you consider that all of the hardware and software is produced by Apple.

  • My ipod touch is not responding when i plugged it  in even with a different cord and restarting my computer

my ipod touch is not responding when i plugged it  in even with a different cord and restarting my computer and i am using my moms itunes that she has had for a long time and so i cant uninstall itunes.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • TS1369 I just bought a new laptop and my ipod nano will not stay connected to my computer. When I first connect the ipod it starts to sync on my ipod but not in itunes. At this point my ipod is connected to my computer but when it finishes syncing it's no

I just bought a new laptop and my ipod nano will not stay connected to my computer. When I first connect the ipod it starts to sync on my ipod but not on itunes. The ipod is initially connected to my computer, I can see it when I look on devices in my computer. However, when it finishes syncing it is no longer detected to my computer. I cannot transfer any of my songs to my new laptop because of this. I have tried to reinstall itunes, reset my ipod and use a different port. None of these things worked. Any ideas?

This came from another thread, but worked for me.  Problem is with newest iTunes 4.62 and Windows 8.1.  Unistall iTunes, as well as its helper programs (Apple Application Support, Apple Mobile Divice Support, and Apple Software Update).  Reboot, and reinstall iTunes.  It will reinstall all the other ones and you should be able to connect your nano.  Good luck.

Never mind, I think. I think I figured it out. There was 1 song (out of > 900!) that somehow had been purchased with the other ID - I have no idea how. Once I deleted that song, it stopped asking.
There may be something with the newest iTunes version too. I didn't think in older versions that the "On this iPod" list of songs was greyed out. But at least it syncs ok.
