My iPOD nano just races through the songs

Ok, my ipod, after clicking on any source of music (albums, songs, artists, etc..) shows each song for about one second, without even staying on the song long enough to hear anything. It just goes from song one to two to three to four, etc, extremely fast. It also does not show me any of the pictures for the albums. That is not a big issue for me, I just would really like to listen to my ipod again. Please help me in any way you can.

Try reseting it (by holding the center button and the menu button at the same time)and if that dosen't work restore your ipod from the iPod updater.

  • HT5848 My iTunes Radio player just runs through the songs without stopping

Ever since the newest IOS update, every time I pick a station on the iTunes Radio or use one of my own, the player will just run through all the songs it is going to play and will not stop.

I just had the same exact problem. It's like the Nano was forwarding thru the songs by itself..nothing would play!
So I went and looked at the manual, which suggested I try resetting it first. I did, and it worked! Here's what I did:
The manual instructed me to turn the "hold" switch on & off. Then it said to hold down the Menu and center button at the same time, until the Apple logo appeared. Then in a few moments the main screen came back on...and I was able to play songs again.
Hope this works for you, good luck!

  • My ipod will only cycle through the songs when i tell it to play

when i tell my ipod to play an album it doesn't play just skips through every track and then exits to the main menu help!!!

Sounds like the audio files are missing. Connect your iPod and reload the songs and see what happens.

  • How do I copy Playlists to my iPod nano 3G without duplicating the songs?

I've created a few playlists in iTunes. These are "best of" Playlists - for example 6 tracks that I really like from an album of 10 tracks.
Now the entire album, in each case, is already on the iPod. When I drag the Playlist to the iPod though, it copies the 6 tracks to the iPod, even though the tracks are already on the iPod. This causes needless capacity-wasting duplication. What I want is to copy the information in the Playlist, *not the songs themselves*, so that on the iPod I can select the Playlist & listen to it, with the iPod playing the 6 tracks out of the 10 that are already stored, not playing 6 duplicate tracks that don't need to be there in the first place. Is there any way to achieve this?
This is a similar problem to the one I encountered with album artwork (see my earlier topic here: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=7921664) - needless capacity-wasting duplication - which isn't entirely solvable due to bad design of the iPod software. I suspect the Playlist problem might be similar unfortunately.
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

Wouldn't it work if you just create the new playlist in iTunes, then find the songs you want from there orginal location, right click on them and select add to playlist? If you want to select multiple songs, just hold down the 'alt' or 'ctrl' button down while selecting, and then sync your Ipod after you're done creating the new playlist.
    I hope this helped.
Edit: Oh just a note- I'm not sure if the 'alt' or 'ctrl' trick works with Macs

Try #2 and #3 in link below. If neither work, you most likely have a hardware issue.

  • After synchronising, the iPod song starts part way through the song. Same song starts fine on iTunes. Wassup?

Why is it that after I synchronise my iPod with iTunes the track on my iPod starts part way through the song? Only happens with the occasional song and is not widespread. The iTunes song on my laptop is fine - when I play it from iTunes it starts from the start.
Any help would be very welcome

You're in the exact same situation as me, and I can't seem to find help with this problem.

  • Skipping through the songs...

I have had some struggles with my iPod since it was synched with a dying laptop PC computer. After a lot of restores and resets, it seems to be back now. I am now using a different PC desktop successfully with my iTunes. However, I have had a recurrent problem...I live for the Shuffle...so I start Shuffling randomly through my Library and after, say, 3 songs that play normally the iPod begins to skip through the songs rapidly (with the elapsed time of the song always at 0:00 and not proceeding). If I choose a song specifically, then this one song plays but it tries to proceed alphabetically after that and again just skips rapidly through a lot of songs without stopping. If I power it off and back on, it is still in this skipping mode. I have to reset it or resynch it with my computer to get back to temporary functioning again. At first I thought this was related to a new car adaptor I bought, which plugs the long narrow slot at the base of the iPod to my car lighter for both charging and FM radio transmission, because this skipping happens every time in my car. However, it also happens, though less consistently, with just regular play just through the headphones.
So, is this is a common problem? Is it likely a sign the iPod itself is damaged? Or a holdover from my synching-to-the-computer problems?
    Thanks
    Michael

I am having the same issue with my iPod skipping through all songs that I have downloaded from iTunes and only playing the CD uploads. I just have to plug it into my PC and it will refresh from the iTunes but that doesn't do me a lot of good if I am traveling. Anyone with suggestions on how to correct this?

  • Ipod nano would'nt play, just kept looping through the songs.

My nano is only six weeks old. It was playing fine but then suddenly stopped playing and would only go through the songs and then go back to the main screen. I just wondered if anyone ever experienced this same problem.

i had the same problem and i couldnt figure out what to do so i sent it back to apple and i got it back within a week and it worked fine but all my music was off of it. but it worked and it was free.

  • My iPod nano completely eliminated all 214 songs from my music, leaving just the songs I recently purchased (9).  How can I get them back?  I've tried redownloading them but it didn't work.

My iPod nano completely eliminated all 214 songs from my music, leaving only the 9 songs I last purchased.  When I try to sync, I get a message, "cannot be synced because the iPod cannot be found."

When you say "account," do you mean your iTunes library, because your iTunes library is what is on your computer?  Your iTunes library does not have an email address.  An account that is related to iTunes is your Apple ID (which is an email address) and you use it as your user name to sign in to the iTunes Store, to make purchases.  Changing your Apple ID will not make songs disappear from your computer's iTunes library.
If you had an Apple ID and used it to make song purchases from the iTunes Store, and then started using a different Apple ID, you should be able to re-download the songs purchased with the old Apple ID.  In iTunes, sign in to the iTunes Store using your OLD Apple ID (and password).  That may not be your current email address, but Apple uses it as your user name, so it does not matter.
On the iTunes Store Home screen, click on Purchased under QUICK LINKS.  This takes you do the Purchased screen, where you can re-download previous song purchases (for that Apple ID) at no cost.
NOTE:  If those song purchases are from more than a few years ago, you may also need to authorize your computer to play (and sync) songs for your old Apple ID.
For songs that were not purchased from the iTunes Store, if they are also gone, you cannot get them back unless you have a backup (or they are still loaded on your old iPod).
If that's not what you mean by "changed the email address on my account," please post back with more details.

  • How can I turn off the Ipod 5g speaker so it just plays through the headphones?

How can I turn off the Ipod 5g speaker so that it just plays through the headphones?

First make sure your headphones are plugged all the way in, meaning no silver from the headphones plug can still be seen.
If that's not the issue, try a hard reset of the Nano.  To do this, press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

  • My ipod classic has started making a mewing sound and all it does is scroll through the songs.  It will not play except when connected to my computer.  I tried resyncing and that did not work. How do I fix this problem?

My ipod classic has started making a mewling sound and all it does is scroll through the songs.  It does not play on my Bose sound dock or through earbuds.  It will play when connected to the computer...but that makes it hard to take it on a walk with me   I thought it might be a synching problem so tried that--still doesn't work.  How do I fix this problem with out restoring it to the factory setting?  I do not want to lose all my music content as some of it I cannot replace easily.  Please help with suggestions and advice.
