  • Ipod Touch "now playing" screen

I have an Ipod touch that has been updated to 4.3. I don't normally use it as a music player, because I have a Nano and usually take that with me when I'm out and about.
On the "now playing" screen for music, there is no counter for the tracks, sometimes I find this useful, so where has it gone?

I have seen this behavior occasionally with the Music player. Normally, tapping the screen will bring up the scrubber bar/hide it, but, when in this abnormal state, tapping the screen does nothing. To retrieve the normal, correct scrubber bar behavior try shutting down the Music by closing it via the recent apps tray and restarting it.

  • How do I select which bluetooth speakers to play out of? My iPod connects to both kitchen and living room speakers. My old iPod had a selection icon on the now playing screen, but my new one doesn't.

    Hi,
    Our setup
A new iPod Touch 5 with iOS 8.3.
Living room speakers that use a Logitech Bluetooth Audio Adapter.
Kitchen speakers that use an AmazonBasics Bluetooth 4.0 Audio Receiver.
The iPod connects to both but always wants to play to the kitchen. To play in the living room, we have to unplug the power to the kitchen speakers. Bluetooth settings screen doesn't let you select between Bluetooth connections. All I seem to be able to do is forget the connection.
We also have an old iPod Touch (not sure of the generation, but it has iOS 6.1.6). On that one, there is a little icon on the now playing screen that would open a little pull-down menu to let you select which Bluetooth connection to use for playing audio.
I don't see the "select output" icon on the new now playing screen

PS the iPod seems very aggressive in connecting. I hear the living room speakers activate when my wife gets out of the car in the driveway. Then as she comes into the living room, the sound switches to the kitchen.

Thanks, this was the clue I needed to figure it out.
From Settings you can pull up Control Center.
In Control Center you can enable "Access from within Apps" (also "Access from Lockscreen")
Now when I'm playing music, I can swipe up from the bottom and a little control center window slides up. Neat - this is new since my old iPod. On this window, the name of the current Bluetooth connection appears. Tap on that, and a list of connected Bluetooth items appears. I just tap on the one I want to connect to and I am now playing through the speakers I want.

    Hi,
My 7th generation ipod nano is now only displaying a white screen with blue horizontal lines along the bottom. It still plays music and is recognised in itunes with I connect it to my PC.
I have reset is and restored it and it is charged.
    Please advise.

    Hi jkjuarez2012,
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like your iPod nano is only showing the Apple logo with a white background, and you've tried many good steps including resetting and restoring the device. I know I'd miss my music in this situation.
Make sure that you followed the steps in this article when restoring your iPod:

If the issue continues after restoring, your iPod nano may need to be serviced. You can use this link to find out more about iPod service:

  • 'Now Playing' screen shows only the outline of a black rectangle

    Hey,
As the subject suggests, my 'now playing' screen doesn't show any of the artist/title/album info but rather shows the outline of a black rectangle that takes up most of the screen. When changing the volume the little volume bar doesn't show up either. Everything else seems to be working fine. I don't exactly want to reset my ipod, but any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

*Reset is not pushing the central button several
    time.
i know, but thats how u cycle through menus
You must hold down the central button AND the menu
button for about 6 seconds, or until you see the
Apple logo. No worry reset doesn't do anything bad,
it does only restart your iPod (like restarting your
computer). Even if you don't use your iPod for about
a day, it will eventually turn off to heavy sleep,
and you will have to start it again (like normally,
only difference is the Apple logo screen).

  • Is there a way to create a playlist from the now playing screen on ios7?

Is there a way to create a playlist from the now playing screen on ios7? I want to be able to hear a song in my collection and immediately add it to an existing playlist or create a new playlist.
    Thank you in advance

    Hi Cornellius,
From the now playing screen there's a Create button at the bottom that allows you to create a
    Genius Playlist
    New Station form Artist
    New Station from Song
    IPhone Help, Browse and play
    http://help.apple.com/iphone/7/#/iph3cf21a82
The Now Playing screen provides playback controls and shows you what’s playing.
For information on Genius Playlists, see
Archived - Genius for iPod and iPhone
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2978
I don't see an option to add it to an existing playlist.

  • IPod Nano Won't Play Songs...Stays on Menu

Hi! My husband's 2GB iPod Nano will not play any songs. It will charge and it will show the menu with Music, Photos, Extras, Settings and Shuffle Songs...yet it won't let you click on any of these. I have tried resetting it by holding the Menu and Center Buttons, and it will show the Apple logo and then go back to the menu it was on before. Any suggestions on what I can do now???
Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance!

You may have a hardware issue and need to have it serviced, but before going that route, try this. Connect your iPod and in Device Manager or My Computer, right click on your iPod, then select disk management. Format the iPod (FAT32) and while you are there, assign it a different drive letter, try M or P or Z. Now Restore it in iTunes, fully charge it, resync it, and try again.
    Is this iPod in warranty?

  • "Now Playing" screen not displaying

My "Now Playing" screen had always worked (i have this Ipod for approx 1-2 months), and yesterday it stopped displaying what track I was listening too.
All other screens work just fine.
    Any ideas?
    thanks!

    Hello DeeLa, welcome to discussions.
    Try resetting your iPod.
You may need to try a few times.
If that doesn't help, try the 5R's.

  • How Do I Get Siri To Show Me The "Now Playing" Screen?

When I'm driving, it's great to be able to push the home button and get Siri to play a playlist or all songs from an artist.
But how do I get her to show me the Now Playing screen? When you say "show me the 'now playing' screen," (or just about anything similar), she searches the Web. That's not what I want. What is the command to get Siri to switch to the iPod "Now Playing" so I don't have to manually tap through to that screen (and take eyes off the road)?  This should be simple, but I can't seem to figure it out.
    Thanks!

You can let Apple know you want this feature.

Thanks planb77 but i am swiping the now playing screen tothe right and it doesn't go any further, i still can't get the repeat arrows up, any other suggestions?

Maybe it would help to look at the iPod's User Guide. See page 21 of your iPod's User Guide for more assistance on the repeat setting.

The musictracks on my iPod Nano don't play till the end but suddenly change to the next track. How can I solve this problem ?

You have the accessibility VoiceOver feature turned on.
Triple click the home button and try going to Settings>General>Accessibility and turn VoiceOver off. You may have to use three fingers to scroll the screen to get there. If problems see the following for how to turn off via iTunes:

  • 6th gen iPod Nano does not play songs

Today, for no apparent reason, my 6th gen iPod Nano has stopped playing songs. When I select a song, the Play button changes to a Pause button, just as it normally would if the song was playing, but the track does not play, and no time elapses on the song progress bar - it just remains at 0:00. If I fast forward through the song, the song progress bar remains at whatever time I advance it to. I've pressed Play/Pause repeatedly to try and get the songs to play, but nothing happens other than the Play/Pause icon toggling back and forth between playing and paused.
This happens when I try to play any song or podcast on the iPod. It was able to play every song as recently as yesterday. All of these songs and podcasts play just fine on iTunes and on any other iPod, iPhone or iPad that I sync them to.
I have restarted the Nano several times. I've also done a complete restore of the Nano from scratch. I've got the latest version of iTunes, and all of the other functionality works just fine on the Nano.
    Any thoughts?

Problem appears to be solved, thanks to the downtown Portland Apple Store Genius Bar. Apparently there was some sort of conflict with the permissions for the music (even though I own all of it, and all of the media played just fine on all of my other iOS devices).
To fix it, I went to the iTunes "Store" menu, chose "Deauthorize this computer" and followed the prompts. I then quit iTunes, restarted iTunes and double-clicked a TV show that I had purchased. This prompted me to re-authorize my computer, which I did.
I then synced a couple of songs, and they played just fine. I restored the rest of my playlists, and I'm happy to say that everything is behaving a-ok now. Phew!
