My iPod nano won't connect to any computer!!

It worked for a while on my computer, got my bunch of songs on it. Then it stopped connecting into iTunes and then stopped connecting into the computer all together. It won't even light up when I plug it in. I can still listen to my songs on it, I just can't charge the battery or get new songs. I tried using all the different USB ports, and restarted my computer about 50 times. (I'm using windows) I also reinstalled iTunes and the iPod but it's still not working! I also took it to a friend's and tried plugging it into their computer with my iPod cord and their iPod cord and it still wasn't connecting!
I desperately need help please!

I am having a similar problem. I am actuall on my third 2nd generation nano. One I had to return do to that issue. I recieved the second one (product red) and I was able to get 600 songs on it froma friends computer. It connected to mine once but won't anylonger. The third one I was having the same issue with it but somehow got it to work. I updated itunes and ran a virus scan. I wish I could help but I'm starting to think about stomping on them. I have 4, three work and one dosen't.

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • New ipod nano won't sync music from computer computer sees its there but music doesn't show up on the actual nano itself

Got my son an Ipod Nano for Christmas.  We have got the tunes onto the computer via itunes card - the cost has come off, the tunes are on the computer, but we cannot get the music to go onto the nano.  When connected to the computer, under "my computer" the ipod appears, and when I click on that it shows the tunes are supposedly there, but when we go onto the actual Nano, it says there is no music!! Can anyone help??

Make sure before you sync that "sync music" is selected in music upper selection. This is not selected by default. Cheers!

  • My ipod nano won't charge on my computer

my ipod nano will load songs from my computer, but it will not charge. it does charge on my brothers computer. why does it charge on his and not mine?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
    Try the steps listed here...
iPod not recognized when connected to Windows laptop over USB
Also, make sure you are connecting it to a powered USB port. You may want to try a USB port on the back of your computer.

  • Sixth generation iPod Nano won't connect

I have a sixth generation ipod nano.  When I connect it to my computer, it will charge, but I can't add any music.  It won't show up in the iTunes sidebar, nor will disk mode work (I tried putting it into disk mode and it goes straight to the "safe to eject" screen and I have to do the sleep+volume down restart).  I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, reset the iPod, reset my computer, tried a different cord, and everything else the support website said to do.  Is there anything else I can try or I'm I screwed?

When you connect the iPod, does its screen change to indicate that it is connecting?
In iTunes, you do not see it in the sidebar, under DEVICES?  NOTE:  The latest version of iTunes may hide the sidebar.  If it is hidden, go to menu bar, under View, and select Show Sidebar.
Try going through this procedure, to see if the iPod's assigned drive letter is the problem

When you do this, do you see it listed in Computer Management?

  • Ipod Nano won't connect to windows vista

    please someone help meeeee

Your speaker has probably auto connected to your phone so the Nano can't see it. Turn off BT on your phone and any other BT devices you've connected with, put the speaker in pairing mode and try again.

  • My 5th Gen iPod Nano won't connect to itunes or computer, just keeps resetting. Reinstalled itunes to no avail, other ipods connect fine...help please

I re-installed i-tunes but this didn't solve the issue.  Other iPods including additional 5th generation nanos connect and sync just fine.  When it's plugged into the computer, it says "Connected...Eject before disconnecting" but doesn't show in itunes or the computer, then the ipod resets and the cycle begins again.  It plays music just fine.  It also plays fine when directly connected by USB to a Toyota Avalon.  Any suggestions on how to resolve this?  Thanks!

Check with the article below to troubleshoot issues with your iPod not showing up in iTunes. There are two symptoms to look for to pick the right avenue of troubleshooting. • Need Help, my Ipod Nano won't connect and sync with ituens

So I downloaded the most recient itunes update the other night, and now my ipod nano will not sync with itunes.  My computer when I search devies and printer shows in devies as (apple ipod USB device, and for unspecified devices Apple Moble Device USB Driver), and I have tried other ipods around the house and they will sync with my itunes with no problem.... also another thing is that if I close the itunes and try to reopen itunes with my nano is pluged in it will not open. But when I remove this particular Ipod, and try to reopen itunes ill will open.
I have tried redownloading itunes a million times, used different USBs, restored itunes to new, and restarted ipod, and have restarted the computer a million times.
Why is it that this one nano will no longer link to itunes so that I can update my music on it. Please any one begging you, I am loosing my mind a patiences. Anyone help me please, I just want to update my music on this ipod.
How can one ipod no longer sync????
    Please and thanks.

I saw in one thread related to this that you have to make sure that the process "iTunes Helper" is running when you have your iPod connected. You can see that by running Activity Monitor, select All Processes, and then look for iTunes Helper. Based on everything else you tried, there could be a physical problem with your Nano. One of the pin connections may be bad. Will it show up on another Mac's iTunes?

  • Help! My iPod won't connect to ANY computer.

I Recently replaced my iPod and got a new one. Out of the box, this one will not connect to any of my computers. It does not even charge. I have tried different cables, but that is not the issue. How can I fix this? Can I at all? By the way, I just got this one yesterday at an Apple store in Brandon, Fl if that helps.

Do you have iTunes 10.7 or later on the computers? That is required.
Next make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Ipod touch / iphone / ipod nano won't connect to iTunes (not recognized)

Up until yesterday everything was working fine. But now when I connect my ipod touch, iphons (1st), or ipod nano to iTunes, my PC recognizes them (show up in Windows Explorer), but iTunes does not recognize them anymore.
    I don't know what changed.
    I have reset all devices.
I have completely removed and reinstalled iTunes. (I've tried iTunes 10.5.1 and 10.5.2)
I have shut down and rebooted the PC (several times).
I have tried different USB ports and different cables.
My Windows 7x64 is fully updated.
Does anyone know how to help?

Sorry, I followed both guides and uninstalled everything - rebooted, reinstalled iTunes like your second link instructions said.
PC sees all devices fine in Windows Explorer (and makes the pling sound when I connect them, they just do not show up in iTunes.
(ipod nano, ipod touch 32GB, iphone 1st gen, ipad 1st gen)
Manually starting or restarting all itunes/ipod related services doesn't do a thing either, nothing will sync.
    I'm at a loss.

  • IPod suddenly no longer connects to any computer, hangs and clicks/pops

I recently (within the last two weeks) started using a program called PodUtil ( http://www.kennettnet.co.uk/software/podutil.php ) to manage my music library between my work and home computers. Everything seems to have gone off without a hitch, but as of Friday my iPod started behaving very strangely.
I was playing a song on it through iTunes on my work computer when all of the sudden the song cut out and iTunes froze up. I was forced to disconnect my iPod manually without disconnecting it through the computer, and when I hooked it back up my entire system locked up until the iPod was once again removed. I plugged it in again and left the system alone and finally fifteen minutes later I got an error message saying that an iPod was detected but the iPod software wasn't installed. Despite this not being true, I uninstalled iTunes and the iPod software, reinstalled them, and finally the iPod worked correctly.
Until I brought it home and plugged it into my home computer and the exact same problem occurred. I once again uninstalled iTunes and the iPod software but this time it didn't fix the problem. The iPod refuses to connect now to any of the computers I've tried it on (home, work, my roommate's PC and even a work mac) and every time it's plugged in the system hangs until it's disconnected. I have also noticed that when it's plugged in every few minutes there's a loud hum and a clicking/popping sound that reminds me of drive heads failing on a harddrive.
The iPod itself works fine, I can play everything and it gives me absolutely no trouble. It's when I connect it to a computer that the problems begin.
I'm at a loss for what to do. I've tried every single thing under the knowledge base including rebooting and reinstalling and nothing's helped. It almost seems like there's a physical problem with the iPod (from the clicking sound) but the clicks never happen during normal operation and I haven't dropped it or anything that would've broken it. It's out of warranty and I'd rather not pay the cost of a new iPod to get this one fixed. Furthermore I took my songs off of my computer to free up space and the last music backup I have isn't entirely recent. But I can't even get it to restore even if I wanted to because it doesn't respond when it's connected. Any help will be great. Thanks!
