My IPOD Nano7th Gen power button is stuck I guess. It turns on and off whenever it wants to

My IPOD Nano 16gig 7th Gen has decided to turn on and off whenever it chooses. You can power the whole thing down and it will turn back on and then maybe back off. I can be playing music and it will just shut down and restart. I have wiped it and reset it to factory settings. I have nevr dropped it or dunked it in water or any other liquid. I actually only had 50 songs and an audiobook on there, nothing else. Any help please?

Hello there ELMREM,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
I was researching the issue you are describing and want to suggest the troubleshooting outlined in the iPod Troubleshoooting Assistant found here http://www.apple.com/support/ipodnano/assistant/itunes/.
You may have done some of the steps outlined in it already, but I still would recommend doing the troubleshooting 1 step at a time from the top down.
All the best,
Sterling

• Apple Ipod 4th gen power button stuck

hopefully someone will help me out. My ipod power button is stuck and i have no idea how to get it unstuck anyway that i can? or do i have to get it replaced?

There isn't anything a user can do to unstick the button that will not void a warranty or any support from the Apple techs. Best thing to do is take it to an Apple store genius bar and have the techs check it out and see what they say to do.

• HT1212 trying to restore ipod but the power button is stuck and i'm unable to turn it off. I don't know the passcode and it says to connect to itunes. what do i do

I tried following the directions that I received about restoring my iPod touch. But there is one flaw. My power button is stuck and I am unable to turn it off. How can I go about either getting it fixed or restoring my iPod?

Easy, first make sure that the itunes on your computer is up to date. Next connect the ipod to your computer. If you have itunes 11.0 or above, wait until the device appears in the upper right hand side of the screen, or you can press ctrl-s, and the side menu will appear, and you can see more clearly the ipod appearing under the device category. Next simply click on the ipod and on the summary screen, you should see restore. Press restore, and you will see a dialog box asking to back-up & restore, restore only, or cancel. If you have information to save, press back-up & restore, if you want to wipe the device clean and start over, press restore. Once it's all done, you should be good.
If your ipod is less than a year old and not a refurbished device, contact Apple at 800-676-2775 for assistance on repair and replace. If you are near an Apple Store, go to http://www.apple.com/retail/ and find your local Apple Store and set-up a genius appointment and go in and have your device repaired or replaced. If your ipod is a refurbished device, it has to be 90 days old or less to be repaired or replaced for free.I hope this helps.

• My iPod touch's power button got stuck and then the screen went white.

My iPod touch 4G was a great device, until I stopped using it when iOS 7 came out back in 2013. Then eventually I got back to using it and then one day the power button started acting a little bit funny and then the entire button got stuck in the device. Eventually I tried to fix it so I opened up the screen and tried pushing the button back up. Then the worst happened, I touched something behind the screen and then the screen froze. Then the screen went white. I could do nothing as the power button was stuck in the device. Then it just sat there, white, until it died a few hours later. So heres my question,
What do I do?

• IPod 4th Gen power button broken, game center and some apps won't load.

iPod 4th generation, iOS 6.1.6, power button is broken (will not click at all, I can't let my iPod run out of battery because I won't be able to turn it back on).
Game center, and some of my apps will not load.
I also have issues with apps and Safari crashing, but that isn't a major problem.
For the apps not loading, I've tried deleting them, and then reinstalling them, but it didn't work.
Is there anything I can do about this?

To reset the iPod without the hardware buttons,
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. All your wifi and bluetooth preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected. You will have to rejoin wifi networks and repair BT devices
For Safari problem try going to Settings>Safari and Clear Cookies<data and History.
To turn on an iPod without a Power button just connect the iPod to a charging source

• My ipod nano's power button is stuck?! What should I do?1

I got my ipod nano 6th generation for christmas. It's been working fine the past months I had it but then suddenly this morning, I found the power button stuck! :/ What should I do?!?!?!

Schedule an appointment at your local Apple Store/Genius Bar and see if there is anything they can do to help. If they find that the problem is not the result of abuse, they should replace it under the 1 year warranty against manufacturing defects.

• My ipod power button is stuck

The power button on my 6th gen power button stuck. I found out that this is a VERY weak design and has happened to numerous others, some on replacements they've received under their warranty. It's my understanding it's used on the Gen 7 devices as well. Mine is not that old and was not heavily used. I took very good care of it and it has no exterior damage at all. The button just stuck one day. I picked it up and the the button was stuck in the down position. The device will not operate unless plugged into a power supply, which is DEFINITELY not convenient.
I took it to the Apple Store and they were totally uninterested in it, other than i could pay to get it fixed or get some kind of credit for the purchase of another. Personally, with the margins Apple charges for their devices, it's taking borderliine criminal advantage of customers. If it cost 29.95 and it was a year old that's one thing, but these are expensive devices that one should expect to stand up to light use. I'm disappointed in Apple and i'm outta here, as far as every buying another device.
My advice is to steer clear of Apple until they respect their customers a little more.
Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Apple will most likely exchange it. The one you receive will be refurbished.

• Power button is stuck on my 6th generation ipod nano (two ipod same problem)

I've got two I pod nano touch 6th generation, and both of them have the same problem: power button is stuck.
both have 1 year and some months, so the warranty is over
One of them has 2 button stuck, the up volume and the power button.
I've read many users had the same problem, Apple should do a recall, because too many ipods are affected by the button stuck problem!!!
I feel really dissapointed by Apple...
Any Help?
Thanks

This is a known and very common issue with the 6th generation, the buttons on the newly bought 6ht gen nanos last about a year and all refurbished ipods (the ones you get when you send your ipod in for repairs) last 6 months if you are lucky. A refurbished ipod is basically someone elses ipod that had another problem. You should not buy or send them in to be repaired, or buy this model new because it will break and you will be dissapointed. My fourth 6th gen broke last night, the power button is stuck, like my last 3 ipod 6th gen nanos.

• My iPod power button seems stuck

After almost 2 years my iPod has been super good until now. I've been careful with it i even use the adhesive touch button so I dnt wear out the main buttons & have those. Survivor cases so it's super protected. My power button feels stuck rven tho it was working last night it's not today. I'm so upset with this I usually love apple

Mine too. If it gets on your bad side and you want to keep the iPod without fixing the button, go to Settings<General<Accessibility<Assistive Touch. Hold the "lock screen" icon inside Assistive touch and the iPod will power off as normal.
To turn on, just plug it in.

Try restarting your device. If that doesn't work, take it to an Apple store. If it is less than a year old and just stopped working, they will replace it for free (be sure to back it up to iTunes first). If you dropped it, you will have to pay because Apple will not replace a device due to "Human Error." If it is more than a year old, you will either have to pay to get it fixed, or have to pay to get it replaced.
