My Ipod only wokrs with the chrager plugged in

As the topic says my 20gb click wheel iPod only wokrs when it is being charged by a plug or my car charger....It will not even come on without it being charged. I tried to plug iot in the computer and restore it but the computer doesn't read it and an icon of a 1/4th full battery with a bolt going through it shows up. Can anyone help me fix this problem so my iPod can go back to working normal.

So I have to get the battery replaced from the thing on apple.com to get it to work again???

Check with your dealer and see if there is a special cable available for connecting your iPod. It should have a dock connector on one end and USB and miniplug on the other.

I have just recently purchased a video iPod. Soon after opening the box I realized that it did not come with a plug that would allow you to charge it using a power receptacle. The old iPod did. What is the point of having an iPod if it is not convenient to own one? If you have to carry around your computer just to charge it, why not just carry the computer with all of your songs loaded onto it? I and all who travel would like to know why the video iPod isn't as convenient as the old one.

Here is a link to where you can get a power adapter for 6 bucks. It's the same thing but cheaper. I have one and it works perfect. It doesn's come with the usb cable so you have to use the one that came with the ipod.

Hey HoustonSmith, using to much power generally means a short. Do not use this cable, the lighting cables have a history of failure; shorting out. If within one year of purchase date take it to Apple, the cable also has a one year warranty, if short is do to manufacturing flaw and not abuse Apple will replace it free! Otherwise a new cable is around $30. You could also try a reset or restore, but don't think a glitch is your problem. If you do try to restore, just remember to make backup copies of all the info / data on this iPod to your computer first, then attempt to restore. Good luck. Cheers.

Yes, I've been using it for months. And I can charge other devices with it. (my iPhone) but something weird just happened..... I kept on pluging it in the iPod and sometimes it would start to chàrge then sometimes it won't charge. Charges every time with the iPhone though.

Thanks but I had already read this, and it was no help at all. Under the Summary tab, "Options", there is no check-box to manually manage my stuff. I suspect this is because it is a 2nd gen iPod, with ONLY manual management. The only way to delete my stuff seems to be to reset the entire device.
I like to listen to podcasts. What is particularly frustrating is that the 4th gen shuffle CANNOT play podcasts, but ONLY music, which I discovered after a lot of research and multiple visits to an Apple store. So I have to resort to an older version of the shuffle to play podcasts And now with the latest version of iTunes there seems to be no way to delete any podcasts on the older version. Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tend to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now have this problem?
Did the iPod stay connected before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points

Please note it did say at the store's discretion, but people have actually been able to return it to the on-line store. (I only saw a couple who tried.)
And given the outcry, I would think Apple might have other Apple stores join in. Just in case, though, if you can, you might bring it in today.
If it's an ARS, my guess is they can stick to their 14 day return. Apple cannot force them to do it. SO if it's not bought directly from Apple, and it's past the 14 day deal, I'd bring it in to the store today if you have one. When I gave people the cnet.com site, I gave it so people could read it and know only Apple had made the decision for Apple. And I suggested to some that an Apple reseller would probably stick with their own return policy.
Because Arnie had just bought his, he should be able to return it to Apple or an ARS because an ARS has to have some kind of full refund or at least return for credit within 7 or 14 days of purchase.

Double check your iPod's sync settings from under it's TV Shows tab in iTunes. Make sure it is not set up to sync only unwatched episodes.

Two new problems with the Quicktime Plug-in

I recently discovered two new problems with the current Quicktime Plug-in for Mac OS X.
First, the Quicktime Plug-in is unable to stream Quicktime media in any internet browsers other than Safari.
There is just nothing on the spot where the embedded Quicktime player should be.
Second, the Quicktime Plug-in only shows the message "The operation couldn't be completed. This file is not a movie file (-2048)"
everytime it should work together with the Flip4Mac Plug-in. The thing is, when facing a webpage where a wmv or wma file is
embedded, there only shows that error message on the spot where the player should exist. I first thought that it would be a
problem with Flip4Mac. So I uploaded about this problem on telestream.net, only to hear that the error message above belongs
to the Quicktime Plug-in.
Both of these problems did not happen at all only three weeks ago. The embedded Quicktime player showed up without any problem
in my Firefox and Opera, and wmv or wma files were streamed successfully through the Flip4Mac and Quicktime Plug-ins.
Then, suddenly, after some point, these two problems began to occur, and there is no information on how to solve them on the web.
I obviously tried uninstalling and reinstalling Quicktime. I even completely erased the hard disk of my Macbook, and reinstalled the
whole Mac OS X. But the problems still remained. I borrowed another Macbook from my friend to check whether these problems
occur in other computers, and they did occur in my friend's Macbook as well. So they are definitely not the matter of my own Macbook only.
I think these might be the problems with the new Quicktime Plug-in 7.7.1.
Please check about these problems and solve them on the next version of the Quicktime Plug-in.

Your iPod is designed to sync with only one iTunes library at a time. It will recognize the iTunes library on the PC as a new library. If you sync the iPod with this new library, all content will be erased from the iPod and replaced with what is in the new library. So what you will want to do is copy everything from the iPod to your new iTunes library on your PC first.

My Macbook air charges fine with the Thunderbolt screen connection but only sometimes with the 45 W chargers. It seems to be the combination of the chargers and the computer. I was thinking whether the Thunderbolt screen has a larger power supply which easier activates the computer to actually receive the charge. It reminds me a bit of the Nokia Lumia 800 telephone, which when totally exhausted needs a strong charger to be activated again. I am as frustrated as most others. I have got two chargers, and both of them sometimes work, other times not. Sometimes, they start working after a while. Is Apple meanwhile coming up with a solution or advice how to handle such situation?

I just got my ATD and late 2011 MBP up and running. I've not tried running without the power adapter from the ATD plugged in, but I just tried and didn't have any problems with the display not waking. You may want to take your query to the ATD forum - https://discussions.apple.com/community/peripherals/thunderbolt_display - perhaps someone there has experienced a similar issue.
