My ipod only works 1meter away from router

My ipod touch only works 1meter away from my BT Hub, how far should the wifi signal reach? my PC works at least14meters away, please help!

Does it perform the same with other networks?
1 meter is too short . Is the PC 4 or 14 meters? 4 meters is too short too
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem with all networks then make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

My iPHONE 5 wifi is NOT working when am 3 feet away from router while my iPhone 4s has full signal all the time. Please help.

The problem would seem to be in the firewall in your router.  Have you tried disabling it? I assume you've updated the router firmware, right?  Consider bypassing the ISP provided router (using it as a modem only) and unsing another device such as an Aiport Express.

  • Ipod only works in fm transmitter

my ipod only works when plugged into the fm transmitter. Once i remove it, it turns off and i can't get it to turn back on. It also isn't being recognized when i plug into computer everything from my itunes is still there but the ipod won't even turn on. When plugged into the transmitter the apple first comes on then the menu. When i turn it off everything on the screen slowly fades away. HELP!! thanks

This exact thing happened to my first gen touch. Sadly, I don't have good news for you. First side of the earphone jack stopped working. A few weeks later the headphone jack wouldn't work at all. (Using the docking slot along the bottom still worked fine the whole time, just as you said.) Unfortunately it's not possible to replace the headphone jack without replacing other major components inside the touch so it's very expensive to repair. I could not fix the problem and had to buy a new touch.

  • My iPod only works when plugged into a wall socket!

Anyone know why my iPOD only works when plugged into a wall outlet? I tried it on the Bose docking station and also my MacBook and it won't work!
    Any ideas??

Sounds like a dead battery.  You can have Apple swap out the battery for a flat fee or you can send it to a third party service center to have them do the same for job a little less.

If none of the above help, then it may be an issue that requires service.

  • I want to access my library on my macbook pro and copy work done away from home from my imac how do I do this?

I want to access my library on my macbook pro and copy work done away from home to Aperture on my imac how do I do this?

Are you working on images on both machines?
If you want to round-trip images, you can export a project as a library from your iMac, copy that to your MacBook Pro, and then edit the images there.  When you're done, copy that library back to the iMac and import it to your iMac.  The iMac should recognize the changes you've made and update its images.
Read the Aperture help file, which will guide you to the Aperture manual.  It can walk you through this.  You have to be careful to do it correctly, but I've done this a few times and it works quite well.

  • My ipod only works from 1 side of my headphones

My iPod headphone jack only works on 1 side of the headphones but not both sides of the headphones. I try every headphones my friends have and my iPod is causing this problem. How can I fix the headphone jack inside my iPod??

Have it replaced.  Either send it into Apple for replacement for a flat fee or send it to a third party repair comany to actually replace the part of for you at a cheaper cost.

  • My iPad loses connection after waking away from router even in the next room over.

I know it's just my iPad, as when other people with iPads are here (or even just with my iPhone), they still have their connection and mine is lost. Or when I go places, people will have their connection pretty far away from their router and my connection is lost. I have rebooted the iPad and nothing. My iPad screen cracked previously so I took it someplace to get it fixed, so I don't know if that has anything to deal with it? Help please!?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • Satellite P745-S4217: No WLan connection if 10-12 feet away from router

    Hi everyone!
I have a problem with my wify conecction.
When Im near the router, the wifi conecction works perfect, I get a full wifi indicator on windows and I have no trouble surfing the web.
But when I move 10 or 12 feet away from the router, althoug the wifi indicator gets three or four coverage stripes, my laptop can't make the conection.
It's too weird, because my ipod works perfect and other laptops too.
    Hope I explained properly.
I tried the latest driver but that doesnt solve the problem, I change some power settings but that doesnt solve it either.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks in advance...

    Thanks for the answers.
    1) I changed the power settings in order to have high performance for both cases. With the battery power supply and with the AC power connected.
    2) Im sure I have the latest update for my wlan driver.
Is pretty weird because (when Im away from the router) the connection works good for a while and then fails for a few minutes, after that, works just fine again.
Maybe I have to change the wlan settings, I dont know. A friend told me that probably my wlan card is not well connected, what do you think? Should I open my laptop and check?
Hope you can help me, thanks in advance...

  • IPod only works in iHome docking station - nothing else (USB, power outlet, other docking stations)

This just started last week after I'd loaded some songs to my iPod from my laptop and it wouldn't play or display anything.
My iPod Classic only works when connected to iHome docking station and then it seems to work fine. It won't work when connected to another docking station, to laptop through USB or to power outlet. I restored while it was on iHome docking station but that didn't seem to correct anything. When I've tried to restore off the iHome, the screen flickers endlessly and nothing appears.
    Any advice greatly appreciated.
    Long live the Classic! (Hopefully)

    Hi everyone!
i have a problem with my wify conecction.
When i am near the router, the wifi conecction works perfect, i get a full wifi indicator on windows and i have no trouble surfing the web.
But when i go about 5-6 metres away from the router, althoug the wifi indicator gets two or three coverage stripes, my laptop can't make the conection.
It's too weird, because i have wifi signal, as i said.
    hope i explained properly.

I assume the notebook disconnects using battery mode.
I think you should disable the power saving for WLan.
This can be done in Win 7 power management.
Should do that and additionally you can check the settings in device manager -> WLan card -> properties.
There is a advanced tab which contains some options which could improve the Wlan performance.

  • JNI calls only work if sent from main thread?!?

    Hi,
I searched through the forum for a couple of hours now, and found that a lot of developers seem to have problems with JNI and threads. However, I couldn't find a solution to my problem so far...hope you can help!
We need to send requests to a DDE Server from our Java application. For that reason, we implemented a very small DLL using Delphi, which calls the DDE Server and returns the result as a string. Using JNI, we call this DLL from Java.
Everything works fine, as long as we call the DDE Server (via JNI and the DLL) from the main thread of the Java application. But everytime we call it from another Java thread, our DDL reports that it can't get a connection to the DDE Server. This is especially awkward if you want to make calls as a reaction to GUI events, since then the call is sent by the Event Dispatch Thread of the Java runtime.
This does not seem to be a multi-threading problem, since we do never send multiple requests at the same time. It simply depends on the thread, from which the call is sent.
Any hints are appreciated very much.
    Thanks!
    Thilo

We are a step further now...thus the problem to be solved changed a little bit.
The former assumption, that connecting to the DDE server does only work from the main thread was false. It only seemed like that, because we called System.loadLibrary() to in the main thread to load the DLL . In fact, the connection to the DDE server works from any thread - you just have to make sure that System.loadLibrary() is invoked in this same thread.
This means: if System.loadLibrary() is invoked in the Event Dispatch Thread, we can call the DDE Server from this thread, which is what we primarily wanted to do. So our problem is solved.
Anyway, I made some more tests to find out, what happens if I start multiple threads, with each of them calling System.loadLibrary(). The result was, that only the first thread is successful. This means: the first thread, which loads the DLL is the only thread that is able to connect to the DDE server. All other threads won't get a connection.
What could be the reason for that?
