My iPod resets randomly, among other things......

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Here are the facts:
1. I have a 60g 5G iPod. (It's black)
2. I am running windows XP.
3. The first time I tried to update the iPod, it added about 20 songs and resetted itself.
4. It now does everything from not turing on, showing me the folder and !, showing me the multi-langauge must restore screen, stay on the "do not disconect screen" etc. Sometimes it will boot up just fine but when I try to update it, it will rest itself
5. I have managed to restore it several times, and re-installed itunes to start from scratch, only to have it all happen again.
6. During some restore attempts it gives me the write error message
7. I have also seen a write error message in iTunes.
8. I have tried only putting a few songs on it. This was successful however when I disconnect and play a song it will play for a few seconds and freeze and begin to exhibit the behaviours described in point 4.
9. I have NEVER seen the sad face icon.
10. Windows recognizes it when I plug it in (assuming it boots up and doesn't stay on the black screen with white apple) although it will sometimes disconnect itself and reset.
11. I'm pretty sure I've seen a corrupt file error in iTunes (that was only once and very early on in my troubles. I think I've seen just about every error there is and it's hard to keep them all straight.)
12. There also seems to be something wrong with the battery. One minute it's full, next it reads close to empty.
14. I have a USB 2.0 card. This seems to be working just fine. The connection is good, wiggling it has no effect.
15. I am at the end of my rope.
I think that's everything. The main point it's functionality is random. I can always eventually get it to restore and work but it will inevitably either fail during updating a large number of songs, or fail when playing songs after loading a small number. I know people have similar issues and I've read all the relevant threads and posts. Nothing has worked. I am convinced the problem is with my PC. It's old and been overhauled numerous times but it meets the minimum requirements. I read somehwere about "running chkdsk in windows XP restore mode". I don't know what this is. I would like to try that if someone could explain to me how. I would really like to avoid formatting and reinstalling windows XP. I've read about formatting the iPod through windows but I don't think I have to do this since I am able to restore it with the Updater. I actually tried that once but it said it was in use or something. Updater also likes to tell me that iPod is in use by another application.
If you are still reading at this point, you have my thanks already. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

My inquiry into beds started when I heard your Chapel bit. It was so different from the Apple looped things I had found when doing the Google.

30g ipod resets randomly while watching video.

I just bought a 30g ipod yesterday and I'm finding that while I'm watching a video it resets randomly!?!?! Any help would be great......thanks

I haven't been using the 64-bit version since (at least back when I got my computer) Windows defaulted to the 32-bit version, and Flash itself warned against using the 64-bit version. I did upgrade my video driver, and it has only crashed once since then.
I tried that first, but since it crashed that once, I've now disabled the hardware acceleration setting, and I'll see if that helps.
My video adapter is an ATI Radeon HD 3600 Series with a version number of 8.911.0.0 dated 10/25/2011. I didn't record it before I updated, but if I recall correctly, it was dated from sometime in 2009.

IPod resets randomly

So I've been having this problem since I bought a 4th gen iPod nano in about...early October, i'd say. I have about 3000 songs loaded onto it, and when I'm using the iPod sometimes when I try to use the Genius, Cover Flow, Games, or other features like that, my iPod randomly resets itself (shows the apple screen) and I have to start over what I was doing. I sent my iPod to apple and recieved a new one for a different problem that my iPod had, and the new ipod (same size, ect) still has this problem. Anyone else with this problem / a solution?
I should mention that I have restored my iPod several times, and thsi problem seems to not happen when there's 1000 or less songs on the iPod.

I have a similar problem. I have also restored my iPod several times and put different subsets of my music on each time in case there's a corrupt song or album artwork. It happens when I have far fewer than 1000 songs, but my songs are at a high bitrate.
It only seems to happen when I'm interacting with the iPod: menu navigation and screen rotation. It just resets on me. I have been thinking about returning mine for a replacement, but if you have gone through two with the same problem I don't think that will solve it. I have to deal with this problem about 75% of the time (it's very frequent).
Also, a couple of times the screen has gone "half-corrupt" and the music keeps playing, but I have to reset it with the center button and menu to get it to respond to commands (it does make the 'clicks', though).

Help please! Can't sync ipod with itunes among other problems

I reset my ipod deleting all information on it. Whenever I turn it on with the button on the top left the apple is lighted for awhile and then the screen fades to black. This is all my ipod touch does. My itunes doesn't recognize my ipod touch either. I thought that once I reset the ipod it would easily sync with itunes and put all my music, videos, and apps on it. Help please.

Under your post is says that you are using a docking charger to sync it????? Try using the cord that came with the ipod.
Can you get into the ipod to use it or is that all it does.
If you have jailbroken your ipod, this could be the reason for the problem.
You could also try holding the home and top left (on/off) button at the same time and wait until the apple logo come up.

OS10.3.1 a disaster! Among other things, the dsplay is too large for screen

I do not like OS 10.3 ! After my Z10 was updated to 10.3.1.1779 about a month ago, I access it because the password entry keyboard displayed for about 1/10 sec leaving a black screen.
After a device reset the device the keyboard remained visible but did not respond to touches (actually it did respond randomly to some). Finally another reset gave me a usable keyboard.
But the device always opens with an icon display about 20% too large for my screen and requires several shrink attempts before the proper size displays. Each attempt simply bounces back to the oversize state.
Unfortunately, this also happens with every app (including "Settings") opened. Yesterday, I couldn't return to the main of Settings because the sub-page wouldn't shrink to expose the "<' button - a close and re-open was the only way to get back to the main page.
Other points I hate about the OS: I've noticed my active wallpaper (not custom but from 10.2) is not listed in the the new 10.3 wallpaper list and since I don't know where its stored I can't try one of the newer ones without giving up on the present wallpaper.
The date displayed on the home screen is too faint to be read with my wallpaper. I know there are some people who think black on black is cool; they obviously have great eyesight. The new 10.3 compass is now totally useless and the new clock is not much better but is at least still usable by a change to a digital display.
I recently tried to check the time on a sunny afternoon and gave up because I couldn't make out the white lines on the black background. I find the stupidity of black on black unfathomable and in over 40 years of software development I have never seen something as wasteful of engineering time as products with poor user interfaces (i.e. black on black). Why can't these apps offer the user the ability to change the colour?
The calculator has also regressed. Again all black (cool!), though that's not the issue here. For the longest time I thought it no longer supported scientific operations until I accidentally got a lucky swipe to bring it into view.
However, the requirement of a half-dozen swipe attempts for each display change reduces this app to a space waster or only to be only useful for simple operations and units conversion. I'm going to try a reload of the OS but unfortunately that won't improve the apps.
Is this standard procedure that Blackberry destroys all (blackberry) apps of the previous version with new ones at each update and offers no way to get back or protect against such changes?

I don't understand when AR open item amount is USD 100.3, and incoming payment 101.12, The system can auto clearing by current configuration, but change the AR open item amount to USD 0.3 and change incoming payment amount to 1.12, The system alert error message "The difference is too large for clearing". The same system configuration and the same "Not assigned" value in choosing open item screen, but produce different results!
How should i change the configuration?

Album Art Missing/Not Showing Up...Among Other Things

Recently my new Q10 has decided to stop showing album art randomly - I say randomly as art work that used to show has now suddenly gone either black or now shows the default blue note art. I am practically OCD about my mp3 tags and while 3 different tagging programs say I have the correct art, my Q10 says otherwise.
And it's not just music per-say: I have recently come to the conclusion that there are no useful podcast apps yet out - I've tried about 4 "native" apps (or at least available in the app world store) and 5 different side loaded apps that claim to allow a user to manually add podcast episodes to the podcast folder as mp3s...another rant for another thread but those mp3 are also missing their respective art and one that I deleted ages ago (as it was corrupted) is STILL in my library and refuses to be deleted.
This all started after the update to 273 (no sign of anything after that)
I've tried rebooting my phone after removing the sd card, I've tried removing it from the music menu, the file is not on my phone so why is my library still showing it - even after it says the file no longer exists!?!?!?
Sorry to go on a rant/tangent but I actually really love my new Q10 but I HATE these niggling issues that seem to crop up like mushrooms everytime I try to do something, has anyone else had similar issues? Have they been fixed with the most recent update? Anyone else on O2 in the UK who actually has the update?

Problems with IPod turning on and other things.

Recently I turned on my IPod shuffle and the green light goes on. I am thinking, great, it is working, but then the light won't turn off and because of it I can't press play or use any other buttons available to me. Somtimes where that green light goes on it flashed, green, orange, green orange, or somthing like that. Also, I have charged the thing and when I pressed the button on the back to display the battery charge no lights came on at all. Anyone knowing how to fix the problem and their help would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Also, when I went into my computer, and wanted to see what was in my IPod, it said there was a hidden file that I don't know how to remove, so yeah.... Help would be greatly appreciated.

The adjustment brush suddenly stopped working in Lr CC (among other things)

1. All of a sudden the adjustment brush stopped working in my Lr CC. The little buttons that you can click on to activate your adjustments are gone and when I open files where I have done adjustments they are still there but no "buttons" to click and consequently I can not make any changes or new adjustments. For example; in the image I have inserted I have made adjustments with a) Sharpness, b) Skin Softening and c) Iris Enhance and the adjustments are still there but no "buttons" any more and therefore I can´t change anything. I edited this image April 29 and 30 when Lr still worked fine. Today (and yesterday) things has really start spooking around with Lr.
2. After having saved an image in Ps CC as a psd-file going back to Lr CC for cropping Lr continuously reloads and resets all edits that I have done or are trying to do.
Everything has been working earlier but the past two days things like the above has stopped working.

Well, all problems regarding this are solved after having talked to Adobe's support. After having backed up my lrcat we deleted the Lightroom 6 plist, emptied the trash can and then restored Lightroom to its default values during the start-up process.

Corrupt and Won't disconnect, among other things.

I've had problems with the iPod not charging correctly, and also the "hold" switch doesn't do anything. Slightly annoying but not the end of the world.
I plugged it into iTunes today (I've done this lots of times since the troubles started and it has been fine) and it told me that the iPod is corrupt and it wanted to reset or reinstall the software. It started to do it, but part way through it encountered an error. I tried to eject the iPod to start again, but I still have the "do not disconnect" screen on the iPod, although my computer doesn't recognise having anything connected.
Do I have yet another dead iPod to add to my collection, or is there some way to restore her to health?

Restore Function Not Found (among other things)

A few days ago, while the iPod was in use the white screen on the display appear telling me to connect to my computer and use iTunes to restore. I had not changed any settings, but this appeared in the middle of a song. The previous day, I had my USB cord run over by a chair and the insulation was torn away along with some of the interior strands. Unknowingly, I plugged my iPod into the cord to as the white screen instructed. The Do Not Disconnect screen appeared and never left. A few hours later I finally unplugged the cord to reset the iPod manually.
After reinstalling iTunes, the iPod screen went monochrome and never reset itself. I installed iTunes on another computer to see if that would work and got as far as resetting the iPod (clearing the memory) but when I turned the iPod back on, the white screen appeared again.
Does anyone have any useful information?

In addition to the above information, after various attempts to restore I have received an error code of 1418. This code appears sporadically. The majority of the time I receive an error message stating that "There was a problem downloading the iPod software for the iPod "iPod". The requested resource was not found."
At one point in time, I found a found seperate fixes for both problems. I did as the instructions told me, but neither worked.
Please, any help out there?

Utorrent messed with my browser settings among other things?

So I had downloaded utorrent yesterday but ended up not needing it like I did and I realized that it had changed my browser settings to go straight to Yahoo Search. I fixed the extensions and reset the browser home page and everything and continued on my day not thinking much about it and shut down my computer before i went to bed.
This morning though, I tried to turn on my computer and rather than an apple symbol coming up while it turned on, it showed a circle with a slash going through it. I did a reboot and managed to get my computer to turn on normally. I went to my browser and once again, Yahoo was coming up. I did a bit of searching and found out that with the utorrent download, it sets up the crappy yahoo search so I tried to uninstall utorrent (it doesnt give any uninstall option so i dragged everything i could find having to do with utorrent and put it in the trashcan and emptied the trash) but STILL, my browser is going straight to Yahoo. I can't figure out how to change it or find whatever it is that is on my computer that is making this happen and I can't find a proper answer anywhere else on the internet. I'm not sure if the computer startup problem is just a coincidence or if it is due to whatever was set up with utorrent. What can I do to fix the browser problem? could the start up issue be related? I'm afraid I might have a virus or something. Is there a way I can reset things to how they were 2 days ago when I didn't have this issue?

These mofos - I trusted uTorrent because it's always been good so just clicked yes yes yes without reading. To change these settings back on chrome:
1. Open settings (either top right "hamburger" or from the menu bar Chrome -> Preferences
2. In the section "On startup" it's set it to "Open a page or specific set of pages". Click set pages and delete that yahoo crap and then choose your preferred option (I like "Continue where you left off")
3. It's changed your default search engine to Yahoo. Still in preferences, in the Search section click "Manage Search Engines". Click "Make default" next to Google then delete all the search engines you never want to use.
I think that puts everything back how it was. Will repost if I find anything else.

Why does my screen keep blinking at me? (among other things)

I have a macbook pro from 2009 and a few months ago the screen began to flicker. It wasn't too often at first, but it's gotten worse as the months go by. It's like my screen is blinking at me, it goes completely black for a fraction of a second before going right back to normal. The blinks seem to be random, with no real pattern aside from happening in clumps. It won’t happen for a while, and then within a minute there will be anywhere from like 3-10, and then it’ll go a while longer without happening (usually no longer than 30 minutes, tops) It happens when i'm using it, or it could happen when i'm across the room not even touching it.
A few months ago, whenever i turned on my computer or woke it up from sleep mode, it was making these aweful winding noises like it was trying to read a disc or something but failing miserably at it. It lasted about a week and a half, stopped doing, did it once more for a few days, then stopped again. I haven't heard from it since but i feel like it's not gone entierly :/ so... like a genius, i ignored it.
On top of that, my Safari seems to be failing and quitting out of itself more than it used to and it seems as though when i run videos off of somewhere like youtube, they have a certain lag they never had before (like, playing for 10 seconds, lagging for 2, then playing for 10 more) I don’t know if these problems are related or not, but I thought I’d mention it.
I’d drop it off at an Apple store for fixing, but the problem is i need my laptop for my internship and am not able to go without it for more than a week... So, can anybody tell me if they have any idea what the problem is, or how long it could take to possibly fix? Thanks.

It eventually just all goes black after a while, although this is fixed quickly by pressing space bar. I still need a fix
