  • IPod restarts when syncing music

My iPod restarts when its in the middle of syncing music. Sometimes it just restarts and other times it says the required folder cannot be found. Can anyone help me?

Plug your iPod into your computer and once iTunes open go to the iPod preference plane on the source list. There is the option to restore your iPod. Restoring means to erase your iPod completely and reinstall a new software on it. So if you have any files in your iPod that you don't have on your computer, back them up before you do the restoring. Otherwise, proceed with the restore (You need internet connection to do the restore). You should be fine after restoring it.

  • My ipod resets when listening to music

my new ipod has started to give me problems. while im listnening to music my ipod will stop playing music and a black screen will show with a spining wheel in the center then it resets and goes to the home screen. when i try to open my music again it does the same thing. to fix it i turn it off and on again or conect it to the computer but the problem comes back again. i have never dropped my ipod or damaged it in any way.. i belive its the operating sistems problem but if anyone know the aswer to my problem please help

It depends on how your iPod is set up to sync music from your iTunes library whether that be automatically or manually.  If it's automatically, simply remove the tick mark next to "Sync Music" from under the iPod's music configuration pane in iTunes.
To access this pane, plug your iPod in and when it appears in iTunes, click on its name from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes.  This will bring you to the iPod's Summary pane.  Now locate the Music pane along the top.  Remove the tick mark next to Sync Music and hit Apply.  This will remove all content from the iPod.  When it has finished, re-select the Sync Music option and again hit Apply to re-sync all your music back over to your iPod from iTunes.

  • IPod restarts when trying to play certain songs

My ipod has been acting crazy on and off now for a long time. Usually if I let it die and sit a day before recharging it it works again, but now I am having a new problem. When I play some songs my ipod just restarts itself, and I mean restarts. The Apple logo comes up and it starts over like I had never had it on. I still have all my music and all, but it like coming out of hibernation.
I guess best put, my ipod restarts after certain songs.

  • IPod restarts when trying to listen to a podcast

I have been downloading the "This American Life" podcasts each week. It seems that each week when I download the latest episode, when I go to listen to it on the iPod as soon as I select it my iPod restarts. After removing and adding it back numerous times sometimes I am able to get it to play, but not always.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a way around it?

This is a known bug, Apple's working on it. For now, there are a couple workarounds. You can turn off the EQ on your iPod, start the podcast in itunes for a second or two, and then pause it and sync your iPod, or you can convert the podcast to a different file format (the hardest option). One of these should work for you.

  • Ipod restarts when trying to edit photos

when i go to edit a photo my ipod restarts itself

Many users notice this bug -- it happens when trying to edit a screenshot taken on the iPod. It seems to only apply to the iPod touch, as it works on iPhone or iPad. This bug has been reported.
If that is the case, the user should submit another bug report for it again via this link: http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipodtouch.html

  • Ipod restarts when choosing nike options

    Hey all,
I finally got Nike+ Sport kit to work mostly with my MBP. I recently upgraded to iTunes 7.6 (29) and Nano firmware 1.1
now when I select "Basic" in the Nike+Ipod menu my nano restarts. Every time. I can get it to track a workout by choosing distance, but all the other choices make it restart.
Anyone else haiving this problem with 1.1?

I wanted to add a "me too" post to keep the thread alive and hopefully get more visibility to it. However, I haven't yet stumbled upon a solution. I have a 3rd gen nano and a nike+ kit. I used it without a problem on basic for my first few runs. All of a sudden after a few days it did the restart when I chose basic. It seemed to do this no matter what I did short of restoring the iPod, so I did that. Everything seemed fine. However, after a couple more workouts, it did the same thing. This time I tried 'time' when basic failed, and it seemed to work fine. The next workout I chose 'distance' and while I'm set for miles, my progress was given mid-run as kilometers and my end totals were also provided in kilometers. I performed another restore and was able to complete another basic workout. Today I experienced something similar...basic caused the restart, time was blank (not even custom) and distance was blank except for custom which said I was set for a 10k although I had chose 2.5 miles. Another restore and I could complete a basic workout.
All this being said, restoring the iPod each time I want to jog is simply not a good workaround. I'll be visiting the Apple Store the next time this happens, which I have to assume at this point will be tomorrow. For what it's worth, I've always been running the 1.1 nano software.

  • Ipod restarts when detected by explorer or itunes

so my ipod has a sad face when it starts up
now when i boot it into disk mode,
my itunes will detect it, but only for a second, then my ipod
    restarts....so what do i do?

    See these troubleshooting articles.
    My iPod is sad.
What does this picture on my iPod mean?
Also, there is a pretty comprehensive post written by another forum member which is about the sad iPod icon. Be aware that it's quite involved and contains some info that will almost certainly void the warranty. If your iPod is still within the warranty period, you should use that option first.

  • Bought a used Ipod and when installing software, music on Ipod is gone

I bought a used Ipod, and after I installed the software and got my Ipod reformatted, all of the music that was on there is gone.
Is this supposed to happen? If not, could someone please tell me how to recover all of this music?
And if that is supposed to happen, that's just pathetic. There isn't anything in the user guide or anything that says that installing an Ipod on a different computer will complete wipe out whatever was stored on it.

restoring means setting the ipod back to factory defaults and wiping it clean
reset means reset - toggle it back into active mode
    Resetting
    Restore your iPod

  • What to do when my ipod restarts when I'm starting it. Help!

    Hi,
I got an Ipod 5g. My home buttom is broken. It doesnt work. But thats not why im writing here.
When I'm trying to start the ipod, the apple appears, and then after maybe 10 seconds the line under the apple that appers when you uppdatets the ipod. It appears. Then i thought it would continue and finish that. But instead it restarts after like 3-4 seconds, and then it starts over again. And again, and again. I cant connect to Itunes on the computer cause the computer doesnt find anything. Does anyone knows what to do in this situation? Help please!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
Ignore the reset and when it says place the iPod in recovery mode
Place the iPod in recovery mode using one of these programs:
    For PC
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
    or
    http://joshuabailey1997.wordpress.com/2010/09/02/recboot-v1-3/
    If necessary:
    Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot
    and
    RecBoot tip
RecBoot may have problems on 64X windows, then try:
Tenorshare ReiBoot – Enter & Exit iPhone, iPad, iPod Recovery Mode with a Single Click
    For MAC or PC
    The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella
    Installs blootware on PC too
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod restarts when I play certain podcasts, help...

Ok so this doesn't happen with all podcasts, just my favorite one. And only then the ones that I haven't heard yet, the ones I have open up fine. The second I try to listen to a new one, it flips over to the screen like it's about to start playing, and then the screen goes dark and it restarts. I don't want to restore my iPod because I have stuff on there that's difficult for me to get again and I have restarted it, taken the new stuff off and then put them back in. Anyone know whats wrong or what I can do? Thanks.

    Hi
Sorry to hear about your problems. I have a similar one. I subscribe to a series of podcasts and sometimes, for some episodes, the iPod will not play it: it will start to play it and may last up to a few minutes and then it just returns to the main screen like it has finished. This has happened with both "amateur" podcasts and very professional series as well.
Did you manage to find out what was causing your problem?

  • My Ipod resets/restarts when I skip songs, help

I don't know if you guys had the same problem. But when I skip some amount of songs, the Ipod resets itself showing the 'Apple' logo and takes me back to the menu.
Do any of you have the problem? Apple staff, is there an Apple updater to fix this?

    Alan,
This is most likely a software issue on your ipod. If you restore it, it would eliminate the software issue on the ipod, and barring that, your ipod would have to be sent in to be repaired/replaced, because it would be a hardware issue.
Also, over the next little while, there should be a new version of the software out for the nano / video ipod... so keep your eyes out for that.
    Have a good one,
    Matt
