My ipod says its unable to connect with my wireless network at home

im sitting right beside my wireless router and my ipod is picking it up but i wont connect ive restarted the ipod and reset the network settings and it still wont vonnect

Hi,
There might be a problem with your router.  On your iPod, under Settings>Wi-fi, tap the blue arrow next to your network.  What does the IP Address begin with?
Hope this helps!

  • Macbook air is unable to connect on hidden wireless network

    Dear users and support,
I have just bought my macbook air with lion os already installed, but I am unable to connect to hidden wireless network. Is there any trick to fix it? even though I am typing the name and password it's unable to login.
    Please advice.
    tks,

Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
Take all the applicable steps in this support article.
    Step 2
If you're running OS X 10.8.4 or later, run Wireless Diagnostics and take the remedial steps suggested in the summary that appears, if any. The program also generates a large file of information about your system, which would be used by Apple Engineering in case of a support incident. Don't post the contents here.
    Step 3
This step will erase all your settings in the Network preference pane. Make a note of them before you begin, and recreate them afterwards. It may be helpful to take screenshots of the preference pane.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "SystemConfiguration" selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Reset the System Management Controller.

  • Unable to connect with the wireless feature

I have the Linksys WRT54G version 8.0, it bridges with my DSL modem.  I have 3 wired desktops and 1 wireless laptop (which does not connect without wired connection).  According to the easylink advisor, we do not have an internet connection.  But I have internet connection as long as all 4 computers are wired in.  My problem now is we have a new ps3 and can not do the wireless connection.  I have checked all settings on router page and still shows no connection.  What am I doing wrong?  How do I fix this?  I can get on-line just can't use wireless.  Can anyone help?
    Thanks,

  • Unable to connect laptop to wireless network

My MacBook Pro will not connect to my wireless network, but my iPad does so I know it must be a problem with my computer rather than the network. Any suggestions?
I'm not sure if there is some obscure setting that I need to change.

    Give us more information, please.
Is your wireless network supplied by your ISP, your landlord, your own router, or something else?
What can you tell us about the settings on your wireless network? (Not the passwords.)
Did this ever work, or is this the first time you have tried to connect the MBP to this wireless network?
What model/year MBP is this? It has to be somewhat old if it is running Snow Leopard (10.6.8) as per your profile.

  • Unable to connect to new wireless network in Mountain Lion with Photosmart C4780

I have a Photosmart C4780 and have just upgraded my imac to Mountain Lion. HP are not providing new drivers for my printer as they say it will work with Mountain Lion. I have downloaded software updates. However, I have just changed my wireless network as I have a new broadband provider but am unable to connect to it. My problem is that the set up assistant software provided which I used originally to set up does not work with Mountain Lion.
    Any ideas please?

I have solved my problem, I've bought an Epson. It works perfectly. If HP can treat their customers with such disinterest and contempt I don't want to give them my money.

  • Why is my iphone 4 unable to connect to my wireless network?

Try rebooting the router. Just unplug the power for a few seconds and reconnect. It does no harm.

  • Macbook (10.4.11) unable to connect to one wireless network

We have one student who is unable to connect to our student wireless network. He's using a Macbook (black) with 10.4.11 and all updates. He's got a stock Airport card. We have an Airport Extreme broadcasting the network. Other students are able to connect without any problem. He's able to connect to our teacher's network without any problem.
When we try to connect his airport to the student network, it reports "There was an error joining the AirPort network 'Riverstone Students'." No further information is provided. I've tried removing it from his preferred networks, removing the key from the keychain, and reconnecting, but no change.
    Any suggestions gratefully received!

Just found out a little info about my work network. We are using a SMC Network 8014 W-G broadband modem and a Linksys WAP11 Wireless Access Point, and the security is WEP. I have tried to login to the device webpage to check/adjust settings but nobody here knows the password and "admin" doesn't work. I really don't want to do a hard reset and take the chance of screwing up the network for everybody in the office (apparently it was quite complicated to set up when they first installed it, I wasn't around then). Does anybody have any other ideas? Thanks

  • Connecting with a Wireless Printer on Home Hub 3.

How do I get a XP Notebook to connect with the HP Photosmart 6510 connected wirelessly to my BT Home Hub 3.
My Network Places shows BT Home Hub 3.
Double click on HH3 and scrolling down to My Home Network.
You can see HPFE0AAB under wireless network, which is the HP Photosmart 6510.
According to the Photosmart it’s url is 192.168.7.71 and it is correctly connected to the hub.
The XP Notebook does have the relevant basic printing drivers installed for the Photosmart.
Perhaps I should add that I gave up trying to connect the Windows 8 Desktop to the printer wirelessly and used a USB instead. I’m not sure if the problem is with the set up of the Notebook or the Hub. I have tried turning off firewalls which so far seems to make no difference. I am running MSE on the Notebook and Defender on the Desk Top.
I've tried so many approaches I'mgoing round in circles.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Here are the GENERAL steps on how to add a wireless printer on your wireless network.
As you have said that it is already connected and visible to the network it is a case of checking the settings below then if ok go to “adding printer to your networked computer” section
The wireless printer must have a static (i.e., manual) IP address assigned to it from your network IP address range. It cannot be DHCP enabled, otherwise every time DHCP assigns a new address, your printer port will stop working.
How to set a manual IP address on your printer:
When the printer is connected to the network the first time, the router will assign an IP address to it. To get the IP address that the printer was assigned, find the printer on your network and right click on it. It will bring up a properties box. The IP address for the printer will be found somewhere in there.
Using an Internet browser, type the IP address of the printer into the address line of the browser and press enter. It should bring up a printer configuration window.
Now, since each printer is different, I can't give you the exact steps, HOWEVER, here's what you are looking for:
Find a Network - TCP/IP configuration menu. Somewhere in that menu, it will give you the choice of setting a manual or static IP address versus a DHCP (Dynamic Host Control Protocol) assigned address.
You want to manually set the IP address to the address given on the configuration page. This would normally be 192.168.1.xx. The subnet mask will normally be 255.255.255.0 and the gateway will normally be the IP of the router, usually 192.168.1.254
Once the IP address is assigned permanently to the printer as a static address, you are now ready to add the printer to each computer on your network.
Add the Printer to Your Networked Computers
In Windows XP, follow these steps to add the wireless printer to your computer:
Go to Start, Printers and Faxes.
    Double click on Add Printer
    Click Next.
On the Local or Network Printer dialog box, choose Local Printer and UNCHECK the box that says "Automatically detect" the printer. Click Next.
On the Select a Printer Port window, choose to Create a New Port, and then under Type of Port, choose Standard TCP/IP port. Click Next.
Make sure the printer is On and Ready, and connected to the network. Click Next.
Type in the static IP address of the printer that you set in the steps above. Click Next.
It will then try to connect to that IP address. It you typed it wrong, or the printer is off, it will come back and give you an error.
If all is well, it should then ask you for the printer driver. Either set it to find the driver that you have previously installed or insert the CD for the printer, and find the Windows XP version of the driver.
Then choose the driver you want to install.
Click Next. It will install the driver and ask you to name the printer.
When it is done, click Finish. (You can choose to print a test page if you want).
    Hope this helps.

  • Unable to connect to Office Wireless Network (802.1x) after Windows Update

Hi, my notebooks are on Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit. We have only recently started Windows Updates.
We are on a Wireless network 802.1x.
In the past, we are able to do the following steps :
    1. Open the "connections are available" window by clicking on the wireless icon (signal bars with yellow sun)
    2. Right click on the desired network and choose properties
    3. Change settings (eg. MEAP or use local Windows credentials etc)
    4. Click connect to connect
Now, from the "connections are available" window, when we right click on the desired Network, only "connect" is shown.
In this case, I cannot connect to the network as the settings are wrong, if I cannot connect to the network how do I change the settings ?
    Please kindly advise

    Hi,
    I agree with britishdhez.
In addition, I would like to confirm which update caused this issue. Is it a driver update? I suggest installing driver update from the manufacturer's website.
You can also reinstall the wireless driver:
    a. Click Start, type "devmgmt.msc" (without quotation marks) in the Search bar and press Enter.
    b. Expand "Network adaptor".
    c. Right click on your network card and then click Uninstall
    d. Remove the driver software at the same time.
After that, restart the computer and reinstall the network card driver.
Meanwhile, you may run the Network troubleshooter to see if it can help diagnose and solve your problem:
Using the Network troubleshooter in Windows 7
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-sg/windows7/using-the-network-troubleshooter-in-windows-7
Also, please remove the wireless network profile for a test.
    Delete a profile
    At the command prompt ( Win+ R-->CMD ), type:
    netsh wlan delete profile name="ProfileName"
For you reference: Netsh Commands for Wireless Local Area Network (wlan)

  • CISCO WIP310 unable to connect to any wireless network

    Hi all,
I just purchased a brand new WIP310 phone. I followed User Guide instructions on how to join the phone to a wireless network but I always get a "failure connecting to the router" message. I do have a CISCO 1841 with HWIC-AP-G-E card and I created an open SSID for the phone. The SSID is actually not broadcasted, but I get the same failure message from the phone even when the SSID is broadcasted. The SSID is completely open, no security at all. I tried switching the Dot11Radio Interface to any possible radio channel, from 1 to 13. Again same result. The phone is running firmware 5.0.8 and when I try to upgrade it, I get a success message from the gui, but rebooting the phone always shows the same old firmware. Any idea? I even tried several Access Point with the same bad result. Thanks

    Hi Marco,
actually it took me quite a long time to understand what the problem was. I found that on my CISCO AP i had to put "payload-encapsulation dot1h" on the radio interface to get the WIP310 communicate with the AP.
By the way It seems to me that the phone is a little buggy from the wireless point of view. Sometimes i have to try several times before getting the phone connected to the AP. Once the phone gets connected it's pretty stable, but getting it connected it's a nightmare :-)
Try with the above ption if you have a Cisco AP. Also try different channels on the AP...it might help
    Hope this will help you
    regards
    Nicola

  • Airport Express connection with my wireless network

    Hi
I have tried to install my Airport Express, which was okay, but doing so I had to disconnect my wireless network.
What I would like to do is to connect the airport express to the wireless network (Linksys-router). I tried to choose the "Join an existing wireless network" in the admin utility, but now I have lost contact with my airport express base station.
    Please help me....

What I would like to do is to connect the airport express to the wireless network (Linksys-router).
What are you trying to do with the AirPort Express Base Station (AX)? Use it for streaming iTunes and/or share a USB printer, or extend your existing Linksys wireless network?

  • HT1365 Why is my iPhone 4 running so slow? It will be connected to a secure wifi signal, with all the bars yet still say its unable to connect to the Internet. Plus, Internet aside, the phone overall is acting very unusual. Moving very slow.

My phone is running so slow in every possible way, on the Internet or not. My apps are constantly crashing and I never used to have this issue before. Typing a text is absolute Chaos! I have turned EVERYTHING on and off. I have cleared out my running apps menu, history and cookies. I have even gone through it and deleted unwanted photos, videos and apps. If I lived closer to an Apple store I would just take it in as I have AppleCare. But I am over an hour away from the closest location. Has anyone else experienced these issues and if so how did you resolve them?  It almost seems like it has a virus or something. Please help! Any input would be fabulous!

    Hi Bob,
That's the strange thing. When I had both GHz channels working on one SSID, once in a while my iMAC would pick the 5 GHz channel (44 seems the best for me). I always use channel 1 for 2.4 GHz because I get the fastest speeds with it.
When the iMac would pick 5 GHz, the slowdown was very obvious. As I explained in my (long) first post, I immediately felt the difference. Now the $50K question - since the 5 GHz channel at that point was stronger than the 2.4 GHz one, why wasn't the speed faster? Why was it so slow compared to 2.4 GHz? That's what rattling my brain. If the 5 GHz signal's strong enough to get picked by my iMac, then why isn't there a commensurate speed increase? There must be something else going on here besides signal strength. If the 5 GHz spec says that I must have full strength to get 5 GHz speeds, then that makes sense. But I think it doesn't, that's why I believe I have a configuration problem somewhere, or a faulty AEBS.
I might add that my firmware's up-to-date in the AEBS and AX, and Airport Utility too.
I think heading to 4Runner's camp - even with high signal strength (and I would consider 3 of 4 bars high), the 5 GHz speeds aren't showing themselves.
    Here's some snap's of my AEBX's setup:
I think my configuration's fine, although I've tried so many different options, I'm a little confused, but I know that changing the Multicast Rate doesn't have any noticeable effect on the speed. I also have "Use Wide Channels" checked, but as I said, the 5 GHz band is awfully slow for using both channels. I have set "N" only, so no "G" clients to slow it down.
    Mind boggling!

  • Unable to connect with Windows 7 laptop on home wireless network

When I initially set up my network, both computers were able to see each other. I could access the Mac's files on the Windows 7 PC, but not vice versa. The Mac required a user name and password when I clicked on the PC's icon in Finder, but wouldn't recognize anything I'd type in.
I tried duplicating the Mac network location and entering "WORKGROUP" under the WINS tab. This caused the Mac to lose sight of the PC altogether, and still can't see it when I switched back to the original location. The PC can still see the Mac.

I'm not sure if this help. I have a Macbook Pro with Magic Mouse in Window 7.
What I did was when you click on the Bluetooth >> Add a Device, the Magic Mouse will show in the pop up window.
Do not click "Next", instead right click on the Mouse and select "Properties".
Under "Services" tab, checked "Drivers for keyboard, mice etc (HID). Then click "Apply". Driver will be installed once is done click "OK"
Then click "Cancel" on the Add a device windows. The magic mouse should be connected now and shown in the Bluetooth Device list.
Hope this help, at least it does works for me. Cheers

  • Unable to connect to unprotected wireless network

A couple of months ago, I upgraded to Snow Leopard (10.6.4) from Tiger with the Mac Box Set. Ever since then, I have had a pretty mysterious problem: the wireless internet in my apartment, only for MY computer, is extremely unreliable, allowing me to connect about 5-10% of the time.
I have 3 roommates, running Leopard, Tiger, and Windows Vista. They have all had no problems throughout my battle with our router. The default protection was WEP,and I had read in some forums that snow leopard has problems with WEP, so I changed the security to WPA. That worked for a bit, but a day or two later, no chance.
I can always see the network as an option, see that it has a significantly strong signal, and am just not able to connect. I guess pretty much what happens if you type in the wrong password.
So, after this disappointing turn, we decided to try it with no password at all. Great. That worked too. For a day or so. Then, same problem. Can't connect, although my computer obviously sees that the network is active.
This is probably my favorite part: when I run diagnostics or setup, I am told that I might have the wrong password. Oh, the frustration!
I have dumped preferences, deleted locations, deleted airport, etc etc to no avail. As with the network tooling, it occasionally works for a day or a few hours and then the problem returns.
The other three computers in the house have no problem connecting. Full connection. So odd.
Even stranger? My computer connects just fine everywhere else. WPA2,802.1x, WEP. It's just at my house.
I've also tried changing the channel, which has worked, again, sometimes for a day or so, sometimes not at all.
Oh, also lovely - occasionally, it just mysteriously works. IE, it has not connected for a week, I turn it on, and it's magically connected. No changes to settings, no restarting even. (which I have obviously also tried).
At this point, I am convinced it's haunted, becuase, knowledge of wireless technology or not, there seems to be very little logic in the situation.
I've talked to the router people, service people, etc, read the manuals, etc etc, but the people are all sure it's my computer because my roommates' computers work, but I'm sure it has something to do with them, because I can connect elsewhere. So any tips on router settings I may not have thought of are also welcome. Very confusing.
    please help!

Try Static IP address and update to 10.6.5 with combo update.
