My iPod Screen is Messed UP PLz Help

What can i use to remove scratches from my iPods Screen

Yeah, you usually won't get an iPod replaced for screen damage by Apple. Your problem does sound suspiciously like it getting "squashed" by something. Was something else on top of it in the drawer? Anyway, Apple is a business, and they do not want to pay if they don't have to. In your case, you got screwed over because it sounds like a typical screen crack due to negligence, even if it's not.
However, for $105, iPodResQ will replace your screen. There are other third party sites if for some reason you don't want to use them.
Sorry

  • Had 1418 error.formatted as fat.not fat32.now ipod doesnt work.why?plz help

    The iTunes keeps saying that:
"The iPod "IPOD" cannot be updated. The disk could not be read or written to"
"The iPod "IPOD" cannot be updated.
And when I tried to restore it.
"The iPod "IPOD" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1418)"
thats a dreaded problem and i researched at many forums on how to solve it.....
before reading ur reply....there were some other replies that i read.....
which told me to format my ipod into fat partition...and not fat32 partition....then we had to update it and then restoring it would be possible........
that was the only article which i came across and which had a solution to 1418 problem......
    so i began my work....
but as soon as i formatted my ipod shuffle second generation into fat partition.......
i restarted my comp...and then.the ipod is no longer working.......
if i push it to on......then there is a constant green light on it which does not go off even if i connect it to comp. using the dock provided.......
if i put it off,the green light goes off....
ideally when an ipod shuffle is connected to pc..there is an orange light that starts blinking ,that shows that the ipod is being charged.
but now when i connect mine.....
the green light blinks only once......and then nothing happens...
the device isnt working and so i cant even solve my 1418 problem ,as now i even have the solution.......
    help me plz....
    its really urgent....
its been just a month my uncle gifted me this ipod ...he stays in north carolina........and i stay in india.....
i dont even know if there are service centres of apple available in mumbai.and if they are, whether they are trust worthy or the ipod that i send to them might never to me and get stolen or something.....somebody might just keep it and say that its lost.......mumbai is not trustworthy.
but if there is a recognized apple service centre then i would want to go there and get my ipod repaired....i have one-year warranty with me.......but i dont know if the warranty of a product bought in north carolina works in india......
i cant throw this ipod....cause its my first ipod and it has hardly been time that i got it...its too early for me to throw it.....
i dont know why the ****.....cant i connect it to the comp...
i tried the following: after getting 1418 read and write error...:
    reinstalled the itunes 7.0.2
    reinstalled the drivers......
    reset the ipod shuffle...
    restarted my computer several times.....
    checked the cable....
plugged the usb cable onto another port...
    scanned the comp for viruses......
now the only thing left is that i think.....there can be a problem with the jack where the dock is plugged.....
maybe thats the reason my ipod isnt working...
even if i formatted into fat partition rather than fat32 partition,it should atleast be connected......
    should atleast charge.....
    should atleast be detected......
my ipod is not even getting detected by the comp as any unknown device also.....forget as an ipod....
i just shouldnt have formatted it...
although i think....that formatting it did not lead to this problem......
    please help me.......
    urgently...........
    plz.....
plz......send ur reply fast..plz help me.........
    get this ipod to work......
i will fix the 1418 error myself....
just get this device to work....so that comp starts detecting that i have connected something thru usb.....

On top of the two suggestions already given, make sure that the drive letter being assigned to the ipod when you plug it in in windows is not also a drive letter being assigned to another drive. I've heard that this happens occasionally and can cause all kinds of conflicts, from problems you are describing to lockups when trying to sync.
I would also try it on a different computer to see if that helps. Maybe you've got a friend or a computer at work that you can install itunes on and give it a shot there. This will let you know whether it's a problem with your specific computer or if it's a problem with the ipod.
The fact that it runs in Windows and you were able to reformat the flash memory stick tells me that the Ipod is working, but that something on your computer is not.
P.S. Obviously you've had it for 90 days, So I must assume that the USB port is working correctly. Otherwise the Ipod's battery would have drained by now. So I don't believe it is a hardware issue. So move past that for right now and look to your computer's settings for the answer.

  • My iPod cannot be updated! Plz help!

I'm using a 30-GB iPod with Video, bought May 06 in Japan. It can't be updated for 1 month so far. I still can update songs into my iTunes properly, while songs in iTunes can't get into my iPod. I've tried to reset iTunes and iPods in my PCs for several times, but the problem can't be solved. Error message is "The iPod cannot be updated. The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable". Can anyone show me how to settle the problem? Thank you guys. Van Anh

Oh, I don't think my iPod's being not updatable due to iTunes 7.0 on Windows XP. The error message "Your iPod cannot be updated. The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable" also appears with my at-home PC which runs original iTunes 6.1 (the Apple running disk went with my iPod). I've come to realize that Folder "Photos" in the iPod may be the reason? I deleted pictures in it once, and since then, I can't add new photos, together with new songs from my iTunes library into iPod. When I double-click the Photos folder, the message "The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable" also appears. How can I fix it? I've reset my iPod but failed to fix the problem. Don't anyone of you meet the same matter? Plz help! Thank you guys.

  • IPod Touch 4g Battery Problem Plz Help

I will plug my iPod touch in before I go to bed each night and it has been working fine since Ive had it shipped to me about a year now. But the past two nights I plug it in and in the morning it says 20% battery remaining. When I plug it in it says it's charging with the battery charging icon and everything. So I tried plugging it in to my computer USB and it worked and got past 20% but I have never seen it at 100% ever since two nights ago. My other iOS devices like my iPad charge perfectly fine on the same wall charger I use with my iPod. Is something wrong with my iPod touch 4th generation battery! Plz help Thanks for reading.

    Sorry to hear that.
If you set it up "as new" without using the latest backup afterwards and the battery life did not get better, you'll have to get it serviced or make an appointment at your next Apple Store. Maybe your battery is damaged.

  • My iPod Screen is Messed Up...

Ok, so I was running outside with the nano in my pocket. When I was finished, I took the iPod out of my pocket to listen to it. When I took the hold off, the screen turned on, and it was all messed up. My friend told me the ink went all the way to one side and it probably did. How do I get it back to normal??
    Thanks

  • Screen is messed up..help please

I have the new video ipod and the screen is all messed up. The top of the screen is completely black and at the bottom you can slightly see the blue lines from the menu. It still plays the music though. It almost looks as if the screen is cracked but it isnt...well at least i dont think. Im getting very frustrated so if someone could tell me if i can fix it or if i should return it (does it have a warranty???) that would be great.

Just take the iPod to your local Apple Store and they should be able to fix it for free

  • My ipod screen is messed up its green

I pressed the home button a couple times, and then the screen turned different shades green! Help!! How do I fix this?

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

  • Ipod Screen Frozen... HELP!!!

I was walking on my treadmill tonight and I tried to play a song... now my Ipod is stuck on the "Now Playing" Screen and won't respond to anything!! The blue icon in the top left says it's playing but the song is at 0:00 and it isn't doing anything. It's got a full battery and was working just fine moments before.
Please help me... it's my baby!! I've tried everything - switching HOLD on and off, resetting it, and plugging it in to my computer -- nothing works.

*I'm sick of the 5 R's answer to everything.*
Actually, the "5 Rs" does correct many problems. Further, many posters describe their problem with the claim "I've done everything" when they really haven't. It doesn't make sense to go to heavy-duty investigation when the basics have no been performed.

  • IPod screen goes blank and flashes - help!

I recently got this ipod from the Apple store because my previous one broke. They gave me the ipod and right when I plugged it in, the screen turned an offwhite color, made a quiet buzzing sound and flashed. After a week of this it mysteriously started working so I didn't put much thought into it, I was just happy my iPod worked. Then after a month or two, it randomly started doing the same thing. No matter if I plug it in or not, the screen flashes a blank off white page. It's extremely frustrating. Since the Apple store is far away I didn't get to take my ipod in until a few days ago and when they plugged it in, guess what? It worked. The guy said the battery was just low. So I brought my iPod home and when I'm not using it, I have it plugged into my wall charger. This morning, I woke up and the screen was blank again! I don't know what could of caused this. Apple won't fix it so maybe you can help?

It is also possible that your iPod has entered one of its "Sleep" modes. When it hasn't been used in a while, it goes through a couple of stages of this to preserve the battery's charge.
Try pressing the iPod's center button to wake it from sleep.
If this fails, start with a reset of the iPod (hold Menu & center buttons) and work your way through the rest of the 5 R's.

  • IPod Touch Freezes A LOT PLZ HELP!!

I got my touch in sept when it came out, until about 3-4 weeks ago it has be causing SO SO much trouble!!
    About my ipod:
    * Had software upgrade
    * Bought from apple online store
    * NEVER did anything like this before
    1) it would ALWAYS freeze when:
    * I press press home after i move icons
    * It will freeze when i press home from mail, internet and photos
    2) (note: Battery would be FULLY charged) i would restart it and it would not turn back on, i would leave it for TWO days and only AFTER 2 days would it turn on to the DEAD battery screen then i have to wait for it charge!
    3) from the ipod i erased everything and then i plugged it into my ipod and even while it was plugged in it froze.
    4) Now what REALLY * me off is that it will freeze all the time and then it wont freeze at all. back and forth!!
I am at my wit's end!!! Please help! in any way you can!
Should i send it into apple??
Also: i looked at the apple site and entered my serial #, it says there is no comp. phone service, will this be a prob?

This just happened to me a week ago or so. I had major freezing problems, tried restoring the iPod to no avail. I took it into the Apple Store and the genius replaced it with a new one for me. He said that if the freezing kept happening after I restored it to factory settings, it was most likely a hardware issue. Take it in while it's under warranty.

  • My ipod screen is messing up.

the screen appears to be dark and looks normal in the center but there is like this lighter area around the normal looking area. and the lighter area appears to have horizontal lines when flipping through the photos, turning the volume up or down, going through songs when it's on shuffle. the lighter area is really noticeable when its on a song that has no cover art. Should i get the screen fixed?
my ipod is a 4th generation ipod nano if that helps. and it's almost two years old.

    Hello katie,
Should i get the screen fixed?
Definitely sounds like a hardware issue, so yes.
