My iPod seems to not skip songs, like the iPod is jammed.

I try to skip songs on the right side of the iPod, but it's not working. The button seems to be jammed, although the others seem perfectly fine. Anything I can do?

If it seems your iPod is frozen and doesn't respond to your on-screen touch, your answer is here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3281
The last step says to contact Apple if it doesn't fix your issue, but you can always look up your warranty status, set up service and more here: http://selfsolve.apple.com

This problem does seem pretty random, affecting just a small number of tracks. Apparently it is due to some file corruption or something... Anyway, this thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2654317?start=15&tstart=0 has a couple of solutions spelled out. Basically the same thing that a-monk-at-large suggested above. (Delete and redownload the offending tracks.)

My 4G Ipod shuffle does not play songs in the correct order? Already restored to factory settings and no success.. Can anybody help me?

I FINALLY GOT IT! after months of relentless synching/autofilling problems on my 4th generation i figured out the solution.
this is what i did: plugged in ipod on off mode~>manually deleting my ipod's songs~>restored factory settings~>unchecked automatic synch~>made a new playlist with exactly the songs & order i wanted for my ipod (just dragged old playlists into the new one)~>then autofilled that new playlist into my ipod. came out like a charm! (before u autofill UNCHECK random add songs)
my ipod always ended up autofilling/synching my customized playlists wrong or it would automatically do my music library (and that was way unorganized), so this worked.

Try my script FindTracks. Select a few of the missing files to start with then run the script. Choose No at the first prompt so that you can check how it works track by track, then confirm or edit the location of the media folder where your files are. Once you are happy with how it behaves let it process larger numbers of tracks automatically.

  • "itunes could not copy song to the ipod because the file could not be converted."

Hello.  I'm using iTunes 10.6 and trying to sync an iPod Classic 120GB with Mac OS X 10.6.8.  I keep getting the error "itunes could not copy 3 songs to the ipod because the file could not be converted."   All three songs are AAC, 256kbps. I didn't have this problem with these songs a couple days ago until I decided to convert all 256kbps songs to 128kbps to fit on my 120Gb iPod.  iTunes, nor my iPod haven't updated during this time.  Any suggestions?

  • Itunes will not download songs to the IPod

When I sync'ed my Ipod I got an error message that 275 songs would not be copied from the library because I was not authorized to play them on my computer. It then removed the 275 songs which were already loaded on the IPod. Any help would be appreciated.

Choose Authorize Computer from the Store menu in iTunes, provide your iTunes store account details when prompted, and then try transferring the songs again.

  • Can I make my iPod I'm using display albums, like the iPod "Classic"?

I was wondering if there's a way to make my 30GB 1st Generation iPod Video (it came out around the same time as the 1st Gen iPod Nano) display the same way as the iPod Classic and 2nd Gen iPod Nano. Also I was just wondering if the iPod touch also uses the same display as the iPod Classic.

    No.
The 2nd gen nano doesn't have the same display as the iPod Classic. Maybe you meant the 3rd gen?
Also I was just wondering if the iPod touch also uses the same display as the iPod Classic.
Coverflow is similar, but in almost every other respect, it's different.

  • Ipod not skipping songs in shuffle

I seem to have the opposite problem as most in the shuffle mode.  I have marked all of my holiday songs to skip in shuffle mode, multiple times now, but a few songs continue to play when I hit Shuffle.  Any ideas?

You haven't actually set some songs to skip when shuffling
You have two copies of a song that plays in shuffle mode - one copy set to skip when shuffling, and the other one is not and this one therefore plays in shuffle mode
You have set skip when shuffling while the iPod is connected to iTunes, and that change to skip has not been synchronised with the iPod
If a song plays in shuffle mode when you think it should not do so, check the setting for the song in your iTunes Library to make sure it's the way you want. Make sure you select just the one song, do not check multiple items while trying to resolve this issue.

  • FYI updating my IPOD seems to have fixed song skipping

    Hi,
I was having problems with songs that I purchased from Itunes skipping on my IPOD mini. I saw that alot of others here are having the same problem. I updated my Ipod, and the problem seems to have gone away (at least for now!). Just thought I would share this with others who are having the same problem becuase I know how frustrating it is when you IPOD keeps skipping your songs .

Hi I am replying to my own message just so that it gets pushed back up to the top. No, I am not doing this for some sort of egotistical reason, I am doing it because this problem seems to be very common with the IPOD mini, and I know how irritating it is when your IPOD keeps skipping over all the songs you want to hear.

  • Ipod click wheel keeps skipping songs

It has worked fine for two years, but now it makes a clicking noise when you try to play a song, and it skips four songs and then plays. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!

Have you tried resetting your iPod? To reset an iPod:
Press and hold the Menu and Select (center) buttons together for 5-10 seconds.
Try connecting your iPod to a power source while resetting your iPod.
If several attempts at that step doesn't help, you could try restoring your iPod (if it seems like it's your iPod's problem, not an issue with the song files that your iPod is having problems playing).

  • 160 GB iPod Classic just started skipping songs. Is there a fix?

My 160 GB iPod Classic worked flawlessy for about two years and now has begun to skip songs. Always after the same playing time from zero to around 48 seconds. About 5% of the songs skip, but the list is growing and it seems to happen at random. I am on iTunes 9.2.1 (5) on my iMac running Tiger OSX 10.4.
(I also have an older 60 GB iPod that is working fine). I have read many strings by this community concerning  this problem and cannot seem to find a good solution here. It seems like some sort of corruption issue.  My iTunes library seems to be fine. If I delete an album from the iTunes library and then synch the iPod Classic to delete the same album from the iPod Classic then re-burn the album to iTunes and then resynch the iPod Classic, the album plays just fine. Of course, I do not wish to hunt and peck for all the bad songs in order to clean them up, especially if more corruption is going to happen. This is a maddening problem as many of you know. It drives me nuts and ruins my enjoyment of my music with this 160 GB iPod Classic.
My music is all in the AAC audio file format and I have about 8700 songs, some 25 music videos, 25 podcasts and thousands of photos taking up around 63 GB of space on my iPod Classic.  I sure wish that everyone who is having this skipping problem can band together and get a voice at Apple for some help.
The iPod Classic was a joy for about two years - and now - has become an aggravation.

Here I am submitting possible causes and solutions for my own problem. Possible root cause of skipping may be the use of a headset cable having a TRRS connector male plug having 4 conductor rings and 3 insulator rings. My problem started when I began to use an AKG Q460 headset which has this connector. Same TRRS plug may be found on iPhone headset or many other headsets having an active switch control in the cable. I think this headset plug may have caused corruption of digital song data when I actuated skip to next or previous song or possibly even when I increased or decreased the volume which is an incrementing pulse control signal. I went back to the headset cable having the same TRS connector as found on the Apple original headset and on my Sennheiser headset and there is even a short TRS cable that comes with the AKG headset. The problem seems to have gone away. No new skipping songs have occurred since using the TRS connector. You can learn more by searching on TRS connector on Wikipedia.
Fixing the corrupted songs was accomplished as follows: 1) MARK the corrupted song as a one star rating on the iPod. 2) Synch the iPod and then when synch is complete, DELETE the marked songs into the trash. 3) Synch the iPod again to remove the corrupted songs from the iPod. 4) Drag the songs out of the trash to the desktop. Then drag the songs back into iTunes. Remove the one star rating. 5) Synch the iPod once again to restore the uncorrupted songs. Fortunately, the iTunes version of the song does not get corrupted when synching the iPod. So far, this has worked fine. I even had one corrupted music video which was repaired with this method. Comments are welcome, especially regarding the TRS vs TRRS connector theory.
