My ipod shuffle is not getting recognized by my comp or i tunes :(

What should i do it dosent show up anywhere?

If you have iTunes version 8.2.1.6, it won't work. I have been through ever Tech procedure. The first work around I tried a week ago that worked was to install an older version of iTunes. The older version had USB issues, but could be worked around by doing some silly things with USB connections. Last night, I installed iTunes 9. It may have taken care of the problem (iTunes/iPod interface). I won't know for sure until I get through my play list on the iPod. Everything seemed to work, I deleted some songs and added some songs, and the iPod menu changed accordingly. The only thing I was not able to do was play a song on the iPod. My Windows machine is 9 years old (still meets the requirements), and iTunes 9 runs rrrreeeeeaaaaallllllllll sssslllllloooooowwwww when working with the iPod. That may explain why I could not play any songs. For anyother operation, i.e., switching playlist, etc. iTunes 9 is faster than iTunes 8.

  • HT1510 My iPod shuffle is not being recognized by my computer. I have the original USB cord but when I plug it into my computer there is no recognition. The first time I plugged it in it recognized but never again.

My iPod shuffle is not being recognized by my computer. It is flashing orange and when plugged in with the original USB cable nothing happens to show the computer recognizes it.

Flashing orange usually means it is being recognized by the computer.  The flashing means do not disconnected, because the shuffle's "disk" is mounted.
In iTunes (with the shuffle connected), when you look in the sidebar (left side of window), under DEVICES, the iPod is not shown there?  Does it say DEVICES in the sidebar?

    Please help!
I recieved my iPod in September 2005. It has been working perfectly fine until this month. I've been trying to add more songs to my iPod. I connected my shuffle to the USB port, and all I am recieving is my iPod blinking orange. I have tried all of the three R's, yet it hasn't affected my results in any way. When trying to download the new iTunes, it would stop downloading or just disappear. If anyone has anything that could help me, please reply!

  • IPod Nano does not get recognized as it should

    Hi
I have got a problem that just popped up. The iPod itself works fine but I can not sync any longer.
When I plug in my iPod Nano it does not open iTunes anymore and when I open iTunes it does not appear. It get recognized in Windows Explorer as a new drive but without the iPod name and when clicking on the drive it says that the disk is not formatted and ask if I would like to format now.
I tried to changed drive from G to other as from one support page but without result
I have tried the 5 R´s but I am unable to restore the unit as the iPod updater freezes when I open it and it tries to look for the iPod.
My PC is with Windows 2000 and my iPod worked fine earlier.
I have tried to connect the iPod to other PC´s but with the same result -- the iPod says "do not disconnect" and nothing happens more than that the battery get charged.
I have tried to end the iPodservice.exe from the task manager but it fails saying "unable to terminate process, access is denied" This happend in all three PC´s
The unit shows up when clicking on the Safe Hardware removal icon in USB as "Apple iPod USB device" but when trying to stop the device it says that the unit can not be stopped now...
In my iPod I have checked and it is Format Windows
    What to do now???

Ok I reply to myself if anyone intresetd in what happen in my case
I have now been able to do the restore my iPod Nano using the hints in one of the questions below. So now the iPod is recognized by Windows Explorer but now by iTunes. At least some progress.
What puzzles me ist that it seems that half teh world have teh same problem and Apples suggestion how to solve this does not work so where is Apple support?

  • Ipod shuffle is not getting synced

..recently i bought ipod shuffle...in iTunes window..shuffle's detection picture along with my name is coming...but wen i clik on tht..thr is nthing coming on the right pane...wat 2 do?...plz help to resolve this prblm?..

My problem is similar. iTunes , latest version, sees' my shuffle but when I try and synch it says disk can't be found. If I try restore via iTunes I get the usual error code but I CAN restore via the utility which then takes me into iTunes to confirm name but again it fails to synch after that.
I can even load songs onto the shuffle via My Computer, XP Pro, but they don't play or show up in iTunes. It was all Ok as far as I know before I loaded the latest version of iTunes. SHould I revert back to an old version ? Why does utilty restore work but ITunes doesn't and why doesn't iTunes synch my shuffle after the utilty restore ?
    Any help appreciated.

  • My ipod shuffle is not being recognized by Itunes.

I tried all the steps in the Apple troubleshooting guide, no luck.  I'm operating a PC, the current version if ITunes and a Version 4 Shuffle.  Can anyone suggest a fix?  Thanks!

If you see it in Windows as the F drive, that is good.  So, I wonder why you are not able to follow the procedure to re-assign the drive letter.  If Windows sees the iPod's disk, it should appear in Disk Management.
Try shutting down the computer, and disconnecting all USB devices, including hub.  Start up the computer with only standard keyboard and mouse connected, if normally used.  Do this to Reset the shuffle
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1655
Run iTunes.  Connect shuffle to a direct USB port on the computer (the one you use with your iPod touch).

My iPod shuffle will not turn on, nor is it recognized by the computer to pull up iTunes. I have order new USB cords and nothing. Please help! Not sure of the generation of iPod shuffle, I think 3rd.

first: why did you download the iOS Beta 8? If you are a developer, go to the Apple Developers website and check what they can do for your case.
second: setup an appointment to a Genius Bar for service.

Assuming you bought the song at the iTunes Store, you can go here
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/
and follow one of the "paths" to get what you need or to an Apple customer support employee.  One path is to click Contact Support at the bottom of the list of choices, and use the Express Lane.
The iTunes app also has a way to report a problem with a purchase.  Select iTunes Store in the sidebar (of the iTunes window).  Toward the upper right corner, click on your Apple ID.  This gets you to your Account Information screen.  Find Purchase History and click See All.  On that screen, you can select a specific purchase with that problem, and Report a Problem.
If you want to try to figure out WHY that song does not play on your iPod shuffle, please post back...

  • I have an ipod classic 120gb. Its not getting recognized by itunes.

I have an ipod classic 120gb. Its not getting recognized by itunes and i am unable to format it even though it says i must if i want it to appear on itunes. It does'nt work on any computer so its not the usb. ive reset it a few times but no luck. Any ideas?
Here is some of the info i got, im not sure however what they represent.
    Retracts: 534
    Reallocs: 216
    Pending Sector: 62
    PowerOn: 1253
    Smart/Stop: 469
    Temp:Current 27c
    Temp:Min 5c
    Temp:Max 56c

If Windows or Mac can recognise it, then reformat it using a Hardisk Partition tool, if not, it is time to replace the Hardisk.
The High Pending Number, indicates some bad cluster, which Hardisk firmware can't reallocate or remapped. This maybe due to, leaving the iPod in a Hot environment, damaging the Hardisk.

  • TS3572 My 4th gen ipod shuffle will not show up in iTunes

My 4th gen ipod shuffle will not show up in iTunes, and is not recognized by my computer. I am using a MacBook Pro purchased six months ago, with all software up to date. I am using the most recent version of iTunes, and the original factory connector.  It does charge through the computer, but is not seen by the computer.  I have gone through all of the recommened troubleshooting, and have verified that the connectors are plugged in properly.

    Thanks for a reply
The cable that I'm using came with my 5th gen nano. The 6th gen Ipod shows that it's connected but the computer doesn't see it, so I don't think that it's the cable.
I did try this before when looking at the troubleshooting guide and nothing happens. It just resets and then the Ipod screen tells me that it's connected to the computer. It still is unseen by Itunes and no where to be found in my computer.
I don't have another computer to plug it into at the moment but I may be able to visit a friend that owns a decent PC in a few days. If that doesn't work out I will be getting a new lap top in a week and I'm hoping that it will work on that, but it won't be a Mac. So, let's say it works when I plug it into one of these computers, should I reset my Ipod from there or is there something else I should do?
