My ipod shuffle isn't showing up on itunes or my computer

I went to go update my ipod but when i plugged my ipod shuffle 2nd gen, nothing came up on itunes or my desktop. The light on it is repeatedly flashing orange though when plugged into the computer. But when i plug it into the wall, it flashes green, then orange three times. Also, the usb port is recognizing that an ipod is plugged in it. I've update itunes, restarted itunes and the computer. I've done the reset ipod by flipping the switch on it back and forth.
Does anyone have any solutions besides the 5 R's? No offense but I've tried them, they haven't worked for my situation and may scream if I get that answer one more time.

I have loaded most of my music library from Windows to iTunes, but now that I want to download the music onto my iPod Shuffle, the darn thing doesn't show up in what they call the Source Pane, so there is no way for me to load my music onto the Shuffle. I think Apple has made a product that is fraught with glitches! Any suggestions on how I can download music from my music library?

  • TS1363 1st generation iPod shuffle does not show up in iTunes (windows 7)?

1st generation iPod shuffle does not show up in iTunes on my Windows 7 PC (but shows up in my computer).  Tried all the Apple trouble-shooting steps (some several times).  It used to work with Windows 7 on this PC.  Are there other steps I can try?

I'm not sure what "all" means, unless you state them, so if you have not done so already, you should use this procedure to reset the iPod shuffle
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1655
Then, shut down your computer (power off) and start it up, with iPod shuffle NOT connected.  Run iTunes.  Then, try connecting the iPod shuffle again.
Since this is a first gen iPod shuffle that IS recognized by the computer (so it's probably not a bad USB connector), you can also try using the iPod Reset Utility
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1238
This is for the first and second gen iPod shuffle only, and does a lower level reset than using a normal Restore in iTunes.

My new Ipod shuffle is not showing up in itunes. I've downloaded the newest version. When I set up my account I was not asked to name or register this shuffle. Its a 5th generation 2gb. I cannot find the page to do so.

    Welcome to the Support Communities!
I would recommend making sure you've run your Windows software updates, and then follow the steps to remove iTunes and reinstall the latest version.   Here are a few articles to help you with this.

  • TS3572 My 4th gen ipod shuffle will not show up in iTunes

My 4th gen ipod shuffle will not show up in iTunes, and is not recognized by my computer. I am using a MacBook Pro purchased six months ago, with all software up to date. I am using the most recent version of iTunes, and the original factory connector.  It does charge through the computer, but is not seen by the computer.  I have gone through all of the recommened troubleshooting, and have verified that the connectors are plugged in properly.

    Thanks for a reply
The cable that I'm using came with my 5th gen nano. The 6th gen Ipod shows that it's connected but the computer doesn't see it, so I don't think that it's the cable.
I did try this before when looking at the troubleshooting guide and nothing happens. It just resets and then the Ipod screen tells me that it's connected to the computer. It still is unseen by Itunes and no where to be found in my computer.
I don't have another computer to plug it into at the moment but I may be able to visit a friend that owns a decent PC in a few days. If that doesn't work out I will be getting a new lap top in a week and I'm hoping that it will work on that, but it won't be a Mac. So, let's say it works when I plug it into one of these computers, should I reset my Ipod from there or is there something else I should do?

  • My ipod touch isn't showing up in itunes?

It won't show. It's not the cable at all. I plugged up to the itunes on mom's computer and it showed up. I resatred my computer even installed new updates on my computer. I went as far as deleting programs I don't use. Itunes freezes up on me then I have to close it down. When I try to open it back up again, I have to click the shortcut on my desktop, on my toolbar, in my menu, and go as far as in the start menu and use the run option. I called apple and I had to pay to get help?!!?!?! That's some bullsh*t. I'm only a teenager. Where the **** am I going to get 29 dollars from?
BTW I'm using it on my pc and it's a second generation. If I uninstall Itunes will all of my music get deleted too??

  • My Ipod Touch isn't showing up on Itunes

    Hey Guys,
Up until four days ago my ipod touch was working perfectly! Now it won't show up on Itunes however it still shows up on my laptop as a camera. I've tried numerous solutions to fix this problem, such as uninstalling/reinstalling itunes, factory reset on the ipod, I've tested it on other computers and it works fine, so I know the problem is with Itunes! I'm using windows 8 as an OS.

  • Ipod shuffle dose not show up in itunes and slow down my computer

hi i can see my ipod shuffle in my computer as removeable hard drive not my ipod name anymore and also i can't see my ipod in itunes at all and every time i connect my ipod shuffle it slow down my computer (very slow) and use my CPU 100% all the time my other usb hard drive(not ipod) works fine its only my ipod i also try to use all my usb port but its still the same thing.
and it can't be my windows because i have just reinstall windows 3 days ago
can someone help me fix this

I think I can add a bit to this problem.
My iPod stopped working during the first use after running the iPod Updater 2005-11-17. When a button is pressed both green & amber lights up.
When plugged into my computer, iTunes (vs 6.0.1.3) does not recognize it is there. Naturally, I tried to run the updater again (2005-11-17 version) and the program hangs. It does not use up the cpu though (~3%). Eventually, after ~5-10 min the updater recognizes there is an iPod and then the restore button can be pressed. However, soon after the updater gives the error "Firmware update failure. Disk write error"
I reinstalled iTunes and the iPod updater as well as tried to use the new updater (2006-01-10) and same error. I am in the process of checking the drivers now. But I still don't know what is causing this error...

  • IPod shuffle isn't recognised neither by iTunes nor Windows XP

I have tried (3 times now) to raise this issue with Apple Support (via iPod shuffle Repair and Accessory Replacement service) and I keep getting setting the Shuffle Dock - which is very nice but it doesn't resolve my problem
I've detailed the problem(s) in the on-line Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Repair Status system ... and I've tried 4 out of the 5 Rs the latest error I got (using the Dock(s) was :
iPod Service Error- and therefore I cannot run the iPod updater ... so no Shuffle
... p.s. it would be nice to have a telephone no. to talk to someone about this as it is obviously costing Apple money sending out the wrong parts ... a few more and I could buy another shuffle !
Has anyone else come across this issue -

  • My iPod touch isn't being recognized by iTunes but my computer recognized it.

It recognized before but isn't working now. I tried all the troubleshooting and nothing is helping. What can I do?
My iPod is an iPod touch 5th gen and I have the latest version of iTunes on my computer. Help me please!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My ipod touch isn't being recognized by iTunes or my computer. It's in "ipod recovery mode"?

My ipod touch 5th generation is not being recognized by my computer under devices or in itunes; however, when I click on devices and printers it comes up under "unspecified" and is labeled as "Apple mobile device usb driver." I right clicked the icon and hit troubleshooter and it opened itunes and told me I should restore and update my ipod. I did this twice and nothing has changed, it is still not being recognized. This is a big problem because the only thing that will pop up on the screen of my ipod is the symbol for the usb plug with an arrow pointing to the itunes symbol (meaning plug into itunes I assume). I have tried restarting my ipod and restarting my computer and nothing is working. I have the most recent version of itunes. How do I fix this?

    first try:

  • My first generation ipod shuffle is not showing up on itunes at all and I went and bought a new 4th generation one.

I did everthing the online manual said to do. I even deleted my itunes and reinstalled it. I changed my file location from E: to another letter (I:) ----what happened was my itunes was syncing with my phone and ipod and was overwhelmed I guess and that's the last my ipod has synched up with my computer (Windows 7).
    Help

So, your iPhone (and new shuffle) still work properly with iTunes, correct?
Your 1st gen shuffle... It's the white one with USB plug, that looks like a USB flash drive...?
Are you able to see it in Windows, and maybe change the drive letter back to E:?
