My IPod stopped charging

I have an IPod 5, i ordered it off of Amazon. Recently we have had two lightning storms that have knocked out the power in my house. My Ipod was not plugged in, i dont believe, at the time but my Ipod cable charger was. After the storm my ipod stopped charging. I could only charge it in certain positions and after a couple of days my charger just wouldnt work. What is the cause of this? Do i need to replace my IPod or just get a new charger? I see nothing wrong in the IPod itself so im guessing its the charger? Also, i cant try out a different charger because i do not have another one. Also when I go to plug it into the computer it shows an error and says something about exceeding the power supply limit ?? Thank you for answering!

- Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use. Also the error message you received higly suggests a bad cable.
- Try another charging source
- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.

  • Ipod stops charging after a few seconds

My 4th gen ipod stops charging after 6-8 seconds of being plugged in. Since the battery is dead, the black screen with a red battery pops up whenever it's plugged in and then disappears after 6-8 secs or being unplugged. Both the home and power buttons are broke so I'm unable to activate in any way besides plugging it in.

  • Last night my Ipod stopped charging and I have no idea how to get it to charge. I've tried everything and it still won't work. Help?

I got out of my bed last night and accidently got shocked by my Ipod and now it won't charge. I tried using a different charger and my Ipod dock but it wouldn't show that it was charging. I turned it off last night and left it on my dock and turned it on this morning and it had a low battery then all off a sudden it was fully charged. Can anyone please help me because I don't want to have to get a new Ipod just because of that?

  • 5G Video iPOD stopped charging via USB: can someone help?

I bought 5G video iPOD last month. After about a month of charging via USB 2.0 port on WinXP desktop, iPOD no longer charges with USB port. If I connect it to desktop, it syncs songs and shows its charging but in fact it does not charge. As it can't sleep, its loosing power. If I hook it up in the night, its discharged in the morning.
I tried to charge it in the car (with car charger), iPOD charges fine. I have tried to change ports, tried different computer (laptop) and also sent iPOD for service, NOTHING HELPS!
I sent it for repair to Apple, but i got it back in 1 week saying its is perfect condition and no other details. (Very disappointed with Apple's lack of service)
Right now, I am stuck with iPOD not charging with any USB port. How do I solve this? Can the usb ports suddenly become low powered from high powered? Please advice.

  • Why did my  ipod stop charging?

    To whom it may concern:
I want for someone to tell me why my ipod won't charge. It was working on Friday when I last used it and yesterday when I tried to plug it from my computer to charge it didn't charge. I have tried all cables from all the ipods in my home and none of them seem to work on my ipod. So, I am assuming it is not the cable. What can I do?

  • IPod Stopped Charging, even though it said it WAS.....

I bought a wonderful 80g Video iPod about 3 months ago. Synced about 9000 songs and bought alot of videos from the iTunes store. Everything seemed wonderful, until....
About a week ago, I noticed when I would plug in my iPod to sync new CD's, It wasn't charging. I mean, when I would unplug it, even after several hours of adding CD's, the battery gauge would be less than full. It kept going down, down, down, until it reached the RED this weekend. Funny thing is, every time I would plug the iPod in, either in my computer USB or via wall charger, it would signal that it WAS charging. But it obviously wasn't.
Now, it seems to be completely dead. Won't turn on, and thus won't show up in iTunes. When I plug it into my wall charger, it powers on (like a reset), and I can listen and use it normally, but it has to stay plugged in--because the second I UN-plug it, it shuts off like the battery is dead. When I plug it into my USB port on my computer, all I get is the "Battery VERY low, please wait" message. I let it sit like that for 2 hours....nothing.
I have a warranty remaining, and want to have enough juice so I can at least restore it and see if it clears up. The problem is, I still have many, many GB of music and video I never backed up. So, I've been looking for a extra battery pack to power the iPod long enough to back everything up before a restore, either by me, or by taking it in.
Anyone know what is going on here? Should I be doing something different? Is this a simple dead battery, or something bigger? Thanks!

  • IPod Touch 4g stops charging randomly

I bought an iPod Touch 4g like 22 days ago and I was using my old nano cables and a wall charger to charge my iPod and one day, the iPod stopped charging apparently without a reason (it wasn't completely charged after 4 hours) so I decided to use its own cables and since then everything was fine but today I plugged my iPod to a wall charger (like always) and it was charging but after 4 hours the iPod wasn't charged at all. It appears that at some point the iPod stopped charging, the porcentage of charge was like 60% and it didn't seemed to be plugged and charging; the battery icon was a normal battery icon (half charged battery).
Anyone can tell me why is this happening to me? Is this normal or there's something wrong with my iPod? The iPod wasn't off while charging! The iOs that I have is 4.3.5 (8L1).

    - As you found out, not all cable are equal. I just tried a cable that came with my 3G Nao and it does not work with my iPod Touch.
    - Does it seem to work if yu wiggle the cable and/or connector? Cables can be damaged.
    - Does it charge OK with the Touch cable and your computer?
    - Doese the dock-connector plug and iPod socket look damaged?

  • IPod disconnects & stops charging after syncing even though battery is low

I have a 5G 30GB iPod video, both the iPod and iTunes have the latest software updates, I've only had it a month and haven't changed any of the settings.
When I connect iPod to my computer (a laptop, running Windows 2000), iTunes starts up and begins syncing with iPod as normal. However, if there isn't anything new to sync across, iPod will disconnect itself within 20 seconds or so and stop charging, even though the battery is still nearly empty. I don't think its a power to the USB hub problem as some laptops seem to have, as whilst its syncing it recharges fine, and a long sync period will see it fully charged - I just don't do those very often. Surely there must be a way to get it to recharge through the USB cable when its not syncing?
PS - I've tried the Apple support article on switching on the power to the USB hub, but my 'power' tab on the USB settings didn't have a 'keep the power on all the time' button, suggesting its always on anyway?
    Thanks, Chris

  • My original ipod touch charger has stopped working?

I have a 32gb ipod touch 5th generation with an original ipod touch charger. It just stopped working one day and I couldn't charge my ipod anymore, I thought my charger was dead and broken so I decided to buy a new. It worked fine the first week, but then stopped working, is my ipod the problem? please help...

Was it a genuine Apple cable? If so then if it is defective Apple will exchange it at now cost. Same for the original cable if it was not abused and you purchased the iPod less than a year ago.

  • IPod Touch 2G stopped charging in licensed accessories

My 2nd Gen. iPod Touch (16GB) has stopped charging in my Griffin Powerdock Duo, and Griffin car adapter, they have charged in it for the last 2 months and will no longer do so. My Wife's 8GB 2nd Gen Touch will still charge in both. The only change I have made is the installation of the 2.2.1 software while my wife is still on 2.2.0.
Any Ideas why this would happen?
I should note that it will properly charge via my PC and the apple cable or also in my Onkyo DS-A2X stereo dock.

I have an email in to them and am waiting for a reply. It also seems that the 2.2.1 update broke support for my 3rd party sync cables as well. Same Issue, don't work on my 16GB 2.2.1, work as before on my wife's 8GB 2.2.0...
I have had no problems until after the 2.2.1 update was installed.
So for an update, the problem is not limited to my Griffin branded products and appears to be software related.

  • Why did my iD9 ihome stop charging my ipod touch?

I got the iD9 ihome for Christmas and at first, it played and charged my ipod touch perfectly. Now, however, it has stopped charging and only plays music through the speakers. I'm very frustrated, because one of the reasons I chose this ihome was because it would both play and charge my ipod at the same time. I use my ipod religiously and am constantly draining the battery and hate having to plug it into the computer. Any ideas what could be wrong/where I could take it to get looked at without paying a fortune?

  • IPod 5th gen stopped charging in the middle of a charge.

I was charging my iPod touch last night and in the middle of the charge, it stopped and gave me the "This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this iPod."  It'll do this even when I plug the charger into the port but not to any power source.  It's now almost dead and I really need my iPod to charge. I've already tried resetting and clearing the debris out of the port.  I'm not sure what else to do.

  • My ipod touch suddenly stopped charging when connected to my iHome audio system.

My iPod touch suddenly stopped charging when connected to my iHome audio.  I downloaded the newest update to iTunes and then when I plugged my iTouch into my iHome a message popped up that said the iPod touch was unable to charge on the device.

    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod and dock for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Contact iHome. Maybe there is a firmware update for the dock. Sometimes an iOS update breks compatibility. However, sometimes the following works
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
