My ipod stopped responding to commands

This is the second time that this has happened. The first time I took it to the apple store and they gave me a new one but now after six months here we are again.
My ipod will start skipping songs, and also it will not respond to commands. It will not pause a song, it will not play. I can hear a sound like the hard drive going crazy inside. I already reset it twice it gets better for a few minutes and then the same thing. Any input is very much appreciated

yea, i have no idea what to do, but mine is doing the same thing. I got it in December and haven't had a single problem, well except fot all the stupid scratches. But yea, yesterday, i must have reset it six or eight times in two hours. then i just gave up, pluged it in and let it sit and charge. Today, i reset another ten times before finally giving up. When i press the click wheel I hear the little click noises, but nothing happens on my screen. ???

  • Is it possible for a DAQ task to just stop responding to commands?

    The software I am working on controls a NI USB-6501 digital I/O device using the NI-DAQmx library.  When the software initializes, it attempts to create 10 "tasks" (for different I/O lines of the device) using DAQmxCreateTask().  If any of the tasks cannot be created, the software should close with an error message.
     if ((!CreateTestModeTask(&TestModeTask, USBdevname)) &&
         (!CreateChooseDUTTask(&DUTSelectTask, USBdevname)) &&
         (!CreateChargeStatusTask(&ChargeStatusTask, USBdevname)) &&
         (!CreateInitLinesTask(&InitLinesTask, USBdevname)) &&
         (!CreateChargeEnableTask(&ChargeEnableTask, USBdevname)) &&
         (!CreatePassFailEnableTask(&PF_EnableTask, USBdevname)) &&
         (!CreatePassFailResetTask(&PF_ResetTask, USBdevname)) &&
         (!CreatePassFailStateTask(&PF_StateTask, USBdevname)) &&
         (!CreatePassFailWriteTask(&PF_WriteTask, USBdevname)) &&
         (!CreateResetDUTTask(&ResetDUTTask, USBdevname)))
         continue running the software
    else
         show error message and close software
    Once the tasks are created, the software goes on to use them to manipulate the I/O signals of the NI USB-6501 device with DAQmxWriteDigitalLines() or DAQmxWriteDigitalU8().  The software does not check whether these functions return an indication of success or not... The assumption is that it works every time.
    This is my question:
    At run time, is it possible for a successfully created DAQ task to simply stop responding to commands?  This is what I believe happened.  I observed it only once out of hundreds of trials, but it is still a great concern.  Only 1 task stopped properly controlling the NI USB-6501.  All of the other ones continued to work properly. It continued to misbehave until I closed and re-started the software (thus re-creating all tasks).
    And if it is possible for a task to simply stop responding, is there any way to prevent it?
    -Mike

    Your assumption that instructions will work every time without facing errors is excessive in my opinion. I never observed a daqmx task simply stopping responding to commands: every time it happened, an error condition was raised explaining the misbehaviour.
    I would add some error checking where you are manipulating the daq board and look into the informations the error message gives you.

    Try to give it a reset. Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. When you see the silver apple let go and let it reboot and see if that helps

  • ITunes stops responding when iPod is connected to the computer

    This weekend I switched from Windows Vista to Windows 7 with a custom installation of Windows 7 to completely replace Vista (I did not do the upgrade that lays 7 on top of the Vista installation, and I did completely remove the windows.old folder that is left on the hard drive after the installation of 7 is complete). Until tonight, I have had no problems with reinstalling all of the software I need.
    When I first installed iTunes, everything seemed to be working fine. I had no trouble importing my songs from the backup I had made before changing the OS. However, as soon as I plugged in my iPod, iTunes froze and stopped responding. I had to shut it down through the Task Manager, and had to use Windows Explorer to eject the iPod so I could disconnect it (I could not restart iTunes with the iPod connected). Now when I plug in the iPod, Windows 7 tells me I should scan the "drive" because it did not shut down properly.
    I tried several times to get iTunes and the iPod to sync, but the same thing occurred each time. Finally I did a complete uninstall of iTunes, QuickTime, Bonjour, and a few other Apple products, rebooted, and reinstalled iTunes to try again. The same thing happened again, except this time I cannot even shut iTunes down using the Task Manager. I am sure that iTunes works with Windows 7, so there must be something on my end that is causing the problem. If anyone has any thoughts, I would greatly appreciate it.

    What happens when you try?
    Can you sync music?
    Have you synced apps from this computer/iTunes library before? You an only sync app from the one syncing computer you can have.
    Are the apps compatible with your model iPod/iOS
    Do you have restrictions set that would prevent installation of those apps?

  • I have tried to transfer files from my windows media player to my ipod but it saysthe device has stopped responding or stopped working.this is the first time ive connected nmy ipod to my new pc.any ideas?

    I have tried to transfer music from my windows 7 media player to my ipod.This is the first time i have tried to use my ipod on my new computer .In the media player it doesnt give me the option to add to itunes library it just give me the option to send to my ipod and when i do this it says that the device has stopped responding or isnt working.Any ideas? coz i aint got the foggiest where i am going wrong.My ipod keeps telling me to update the software,but then will i lose the music thats already on my ipod?

    You should import the music (that is listed in Windows Media Player) into your iTunes Library - on your computer - to add it to your existing iTunes Library. I take it you have moved (or copied) your music from the old computer to the new computer, haven't you?
    Then Sync your iPod to that Library.
    iPods will not respond to Windows Media Player, they're designed to connect to iTunes.

    Yes you can drag and drop music to the iPiod if you select Manually Manage Music and Videos in  iTunes.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod nano 5th gen TOTALLY stopped responding

    My iPod nano completely stopped responding. It was sitting on a table, then i went to get its usb cable, since the battery was low. I come back and it's off. I'm like, "no biggie, just auto off" But it doesn't respond when on the charger. Then i notice something's wrong. I press the center button, press other buttons, shake it, tip it sideways, plug in the earbuds, nothing. It's been on the charger ever since, and still doesn't respond. And no, i didn't drop it or anything, it was just sitting there when it happened. Any info is appreciated. Thanks!

    Never mind, found a similar topic and got it up and running again. Weird thing is, itunes read the thing as corrupted when i hooked it up. But now you couldn't tell it happened.

  • IPod click wheel suddenly stopped responding. Cant click anything.

    My iPod recently developed a clicking problem. It first started out days ago that I had to click stuff twice, or hard, for it to respond, but last night, it just stopped responding completely. The scroll still works, I can scroll up and down, but i can't click anything, not the menu button, or the play, or the middle button. Does any one have an idea of what could have caused this??? Is it a hardware or software thing?! Help!

    My boss just brought me his iPod and he is having a similar problem, however I cannot fix it so easily.
    He has an iPod classic, 160 GB. The scroll wheel works most of the time. Sometimes it's need some love to cooperate, but nothing that is supposed to click works. It makes the clicking noise, but does not do anything. I have tried over and over to reset it in hopes of fixing it, but the center button seems to have stopped working as well.
    I've looked all over the site to try and find someone to call to see if we can send it in to get fixed. My boss has not had this iPod very long. I can't seem to find anything helpful.
    Any suggestions?
