My ipod ticks when i switch songs or press the buttons

I just got a ipod from apple after my other one broke and its ticking just like my other one did before the sad face showed up. I can still use it and everything but i want to know if its bad for a ipod to start ticking.

The "ticking" you hear is the hard drive spinning. In other words, it is loading the song that you selected to play. The ticking sound is normal, my iPod does it too.

Try the standard fixes to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset. Nothing wll be lost
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/newiPod
If still problem you have a hardware problem and service is necessary.

  • Why do my songs freeze when i switch songs?

I just updated my iPod to the new iOS 5.0.1 and when i switch songs it would freeze then the screen would turn black then load and lastly just freeze again and take me back to my lockscreen. So now i cant switch songs because then my iPod would freeze.

    - Try restoring the iPod from backup
    - Next try restoring the iPOd to factory defaults/new iPod
    - Last, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.  You likely have a hardware problem.

  • Why won't my iPod let me manually switch songs?

    Hello everyone,
I sure hope you will help me!
I can't manually switch songs. If I let a song play through, my iPod will change to the next song by itself just like it's supposed to. It's only when a song comes on & I don't want to hear it so I hit the right arrow but it will not move to the next song. I don't have the "repeat" on. The screen is not locked. I even restored it but no luck. I've tried holding the Menu & the middle button down at the same time but it has not helped. Oh...my iPod will let me switch songs BACKWARDS! It just will not let me manually forward past a song I don't like.
    Thanks so much,
    Cindy

Sounds like the forward button is busted. Take the unit to the local Apple store. If that is the case, and your iPod is under a year old, you might get a new one.

When I hook my ipod up to my mac I used to get the Itunes has detected an ipod that appears to be corrupted error message. It would then sync all my song to the ipod but when I ejected it, none of the songs would be on the ipod. Now I hook it up and I get the Mac OS X can't repair the disk error message. Then the spinning colored pinwheel pops up and I can't use iTunes. Please HELP!!!!!!

Sounds like your iPod is broken. Take it to Apple or someone else who repairs iPods and see if you can get it fixed, or get it replaced.

  • TS3833 I am receiving this error when syncing my ipod: iTunes could not copy "song name" to the iPod "name" because an unknown error occurred (-50).  I am using iTunes version 10.6.3.25. Why?

I am receiving this error when syncing my ipod: iTunes could not copy "song name" to the iPod "name" because an unknown error occurred (-50).  I am using iTunes version 10.6.3.25. Why?

Right click the filename that won't download and selsct 'Get Info'. Look at the file path, does it have a //?// in it? That is a problem with Amazon downloads that prevent iTunes from finding the file. Use 'Add Folder' to add the album to your library and try syncing it again

  • Having problems us ng my ipod 7g Nike Fitness.  When running when I press the button between the volume buttons, I get a different action almost every time.

I am having problems using my ipod 7g with Nike Fitness.  When running when I press the button between the volume buttons, I get a different action almost every time. And usually I end up either turrning volume up very high or ending the workout. I need to be able to pause workout, and get spoken feedback regarding time, distance, and pace, that's all. I'm using a Griffin brand armband, that covers all of the buttons.  I've read the online manual.  no help.  I'm just about ready to return it and go back to my 5th gen with its smaller song capacity and no blurry.  Any help or suggestions very welcome.

    Jeff:
I have had both good and bad experiences with Acronis True Image. I got the recent copy of ATI via a Newegg.com bundle. I haven't tried it yet on any Windows 7 editing systems. ATI installs some services that I would rather not have running in the background.
What made you change from ATI to ShadowProtect Desktop Edition?
    Are you running Windows 7?
What do you see as advantages to running ShadowProtect Desktop Edition as opposed to Acronis True Image?
    Thanks

My iPod touch is having a little issue with the volume. When I plug in my headphones the volume works fine. When there aren't any headphones plugged in, no sound comes out from my iPod. When I go to turn up the volume, it still says headphones. I tried restarting it a few times, nothing worked. I looked up many tutorials, and still nothing did the trick. Any tips?

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

My mini ipod appears off and not respond to any commands when pressed the buttons to reset, apple logo appeared and then the apple support site and it shuts down. already tried all the steps, but none worked, and when I plug it into my computer it does not appear in the iTunes bar. what do I do?

If MacKeeper corrupted the Recovery partition then even I underestimated its potential for damage. Garbage "cleaning" apps will cause misery but I have not found that the Recovery partition to have been affected by using MacKeeper or anything like it. I doubt that it did so, but I have learned not to underestimate the potential for such things to result in system corruption.
Before concluding your Mac has a hardware failure, try booting OS X Internet Recovery by holding command option r on startup (three fingers). That will force your iMac to bypass the Recovery partition altogether, and convey the ability to create a new one.
An Internet connection will be required (wired or wireless).
At the Mac OS X Utilities screen, select Disk Utility. Select your startup volume (usually named "Macintosh HD") and click the Repair Disk button. Describe any errors it reports in red. If Disk Utility reports "The volume Macintosh HD appears to be OK" in green then you can be reasonably (though not completely) assured your hard disk is in good working order.
Assuming the HD remains usable you can then use Disk Utility to erase it. Reinstall OS X, restore your essential software and other files, and don't reinstall the junk.

  • Am having major issues! this does not work i dont understand..does the ipod have to be off while pressing the buttons if so how is it possible if it is connected to the computer either way it turns on..and when i tried these steps while the ipod was on it

i am having major issues! this does not work i dont understand..does the ipod have to be off while pressing the buttons if so how is it possible if it is connected to the computer either way it turns on..and when i tried these steps while the ipod was on it still doesnt  work it just asks me “slide to power off” please someone help me i just cant seem to put my ipod in DFU mode

To get the iPod in recovery mode and DFU mode you first have to turn the iPod off.
Just what is the problem you are tying to resolve?
Sometimes you have to let the battery fully drain if you can't turn the iPod off. After charging for at least hour try again.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
