My iPod Touch (1stGen) won't charge ... After plugged in, it shuts off.

Two days ago, my iPod Touch stopped charging using either computer, AC adapter or the iHome system. Whenever its plugged in, it would begin to charge (with the lightning bolt), but stops and shuts off minutes later . There are other times where it will hold the charging position an hour, but when I unplug, theres no charge (still 10%). I never had any issues with it before. I did the reset several times to no avail. I tried cleaning it ... no luck. Today, it got worse, now it wont even turn on ... I would plug it up and it will show the battery power being charged, but shuts off after seconds! Could it be a battery replacement issue?

I have tried all the same steps. First a Bose home system that the IPod touch (8G first generation) sits on, then my computer now an AC adaptor. It also appears to charge (lightning bolt displays) then shuts off after a couple minutes. I have preformed a reset and the problem still exists.
Does anyone have a resolution?

    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.

  • My iPad won't charge after plugging into my computer and after holding down the power and home button at same time for 10 seconds- Can anybody help? Has IOS7.0 but the most up-to-date version

My iPad won't charge after plugging into my computer and after holding down the power and home button at same time for 10 seconds… Can anybody help? Has IOS7.0 but not the most up-to-date version

It's just the battery sign - nothing else. I've tried to reboot by holding down both power and home key for 10+ seconds, waiting for the apple logo - but nothing happens. It's plugged into the imac at the moment. I tried to recharge it overnight using the normal charger - but no luck. It went dead during a Skype call with a friend - even though it was powered into the mains - albeit at a low battery level at the time

  • HT201412 My iPod touch 4G won't charge. I charged it and when I took it off charge it was really hot but it showed it was fully charge then when I turn it on the battery was dead and know it won't charge. Please help thanks.

My iPod touch 4G will not charge. I charged it and when I got it off charge it was really hot but showed it was fully charge then when I turned it on again the battery was dead. Now it won't charge. Please help thanks!

Try the standard fixes to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod
if still problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
I suspect you have a hardware problem.

  • IPod touch 5g won't charge/turn on?

I just got a brand new iPod touch 5g this month for my birthday. I've had it for a little over a week and it has been working perfectly. I went on a trip to Kansas City this weekend, and used my ipod during the ride up there. It drained the battery substantially, and it must have died. When I got home to charge it, I plugged it into my computer and waited for iTunes to recognize the device, but it won't. When I try to do anything on the iPod, this image appears:
and then it vanishes after a few seconds.
When I go to turn the iPod on, it won't. And now it won't charge and the above image is the only thing that appears when I try to do anything. I've tried plugging it in and waiting for periods of time, but that didn't work. I've tried restoring it, but whenever iTunes downloads "iTunes Software Update" I get an error message when it's finished downloading.
What is wrong with the iPod? Is the battery defective? Is there a way I can fix this at home or do I have to take it in to Apple? Or is there a simple solution to this that I'm missing?
    Thanks in advance.

Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
    When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.

  • IPod touch 3G won't work after falling in water? Help!

Ok it's been 3 months since my iPod touch fell in the...toilet. I immediately put it in rice after pushing all the buttons. It was only in the water for a second. When I picked it up the screen was dim, flickering, then when black. I wiped it off and put it in rice. I left it in rice for about four days. I finally plugged it up to the charger and after 20 minutes it came on. It told me I needed to plug it up to iTunes so I did. I restored it and when it was restored I tried to slide the bar at the bottom of the screen but it would never register. So I let it die and when I charged it again it wanted me to restore it AGAIN! I've restored it about five times!! Each time the touch screen won't work and it doesn't hold a charge very well. Also every time it does it wants me to restore it. What's wrong with it and how can I fix it? Oh and the home button doesn't work.

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.

  • IPod touch 4g won't charge

Hello,my iPod touch 4g is fairly new but for some reason it just won't charge. I replaced it the 1st time back in April, because it was very cracked and I got a new one but this one isn't working that well. When I plug in the ipod it shows the red low battery sign and the lightning sign but when I leave it on the usb charger to charge its still on the low battery sign with the lightning under. I've tried to reset, but when I do the screen flashes white and shows the same red low battery sign and the lightning sign. After that I tried to restore and it itunes recognizes the ipod trying to restore itself and the screen turns a bright white, and then the apple logo comes up. After that, the apple logo flashes off and the same red low battery signal with the lightning symbol shows up and I get error 3194 or 1604. I've tried using more than one computer and more than one usb plug. I don't know what to do anymore please help me.

Have you tried the actions specified in the following for the specific error codes you received?

  • My iPod Touch 5 won't Charge?

For some reason, my iPod won't charge, I do intend to call Apple for support but I may aswell get help before I do. My iPod charger was working perfectly fine during last week, but ever since yestreday, when my iPod went out of charge, my iPod wouldn't charge at all, I'd try to plug it in differently, use my sister's charger, blow into it and none of it seemed to work. When I check if the iPod even is charging it won't charge. Even if I check iTunes on my laptop it won't recognize it. I may have my iPod data saved onto iTunes but I'm not sure so if there was any way of determining that I do, that'd be helpful. Also, since yestreday my laptop said something about the charger using too much energy or something of that sort. So I would really appreaciate some help or any tips when I get my new charger (let's hope so). I do have a little wear on the wire of the charger but i purposely made it 'wrinkly' (if that makes sense) so I would be able to tell the difference between my charger and my sisters. Thanks. Also, would it be possible to import my pictures to my laptop whilst my iPod has no charge?!

  • IPod Touch 2g won't charge battery or sync to Mac Mini

Until yesterday charging and syncing worked normally. No changes or updates have been made to the touch or mini. Now it won't charge the battery or sync to iTunes.
    I have tried the following:
    1. Tried 3 different sync cords and all 4 usb ports on the Mac Mini (running OSX 10.5.6), no luck
    2. Tried another iPod Touch 2g and an iphone 3g and no luck.
    3. Tried the Touch on another computer we have, a cube, and all is well, works as it should.
    4. Have restarted the Mini, no luck
    5. Ran DiskWarrior on the Mini and all green, no red, i.e., mini ok.
    6. Referring to 5. above, while running DiskWarrior (of course booted from a flash drive with mini system) the iPod Touch starting showing it was charging??? After returning to the main system, no charging.
    7. To repeat, all worked as it should up until yesterday.
    Thanks for any help

Since your USB ports appear to be working, the problem appears to be a communication issue between the touch and iTunes.
There is one piece of software that controls communications with iTunes and your touch/iPhone - Apple Mobile Device Services. The linked article discusses how to remove and reinstall it.

  • My IPod Touch 4g won't charge or sync, how do I fix it?

I had my IPod Touch 4 generation for 2 years now and suddenly my ipod won't connect to my laptop nor to any other computer source in my household. Before my IPod would only sync and not charge, so I would had to figit with the sync cable connected to my IPod just so I can make it charge and sync at the same time. Now it won't do either and my laptop doesn't even recognize there's a device connected (It doesn't even say "Device has malfunctioned, Computer can't recognize device). I open Device Manager and no IPod connected at all. I tried different sync cables and it's not making any differences. My IPod is drain out of its battery right now and when I connected, the IPod screen stays blank and when I click the power button, All it tells me is that my battery is low and i need to connected to a power source to charge it even though I have it connected to my laptop
Now I have this feeling that there is something wrong with my IPod, but I don't know what it is. is it: Old Age, The Battery's dead and needs to be replaced, The place, on the IPod, where you connect the syncing cable to the ipod is broken? I have no idea and I have things in my IPod that I need to get urgently. So is there anyway to fix this or do I have to go to an apple store and see what they can do
Thank you for all your help, I gladly appreciate it

  • Ipod touch 5 won't work after installing IOS 8.2

I had gotten my Ipod in February from my boyfriend (he bought it brand new from Amazon). Recently, I had tried to install IOS 8.0.2 (the newest one) and I had accidentally shut it down, thinking it would stop the update. Boyfriend told me nothing about not updating it and just waiting. But now it refuses to turn on. there are times when it has the apple logo and it stays for a good 15 seconds but sometimes it will fade away completely. We have tried everything. The Itunes will do the restore thing but then at the end, it will say it can't finish. Help!

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

It won't charge when attached to my computer using the usb lead and it will not link to itunes. I have some photos on it which  I do not want to lose. What can I do?
