My iPod Touch 2G home button is sometimes unresponsive?

I've had my iPod touch 2g for three years and it's been working pretty great. I get one to 2 days on one battery charge and everything is still running pretty smooth. Last night though my iPod's home button started to get weird. Sometimes I'll press it and it won't turn on, and then I have to press it a few more times or a bit harder for it to work. Other times the home button works no problem? What's wrong with it? I know it's old but it's works fine, and like I said it's not the battery because it still is strong. Is my iPod freaking out because it's getting old? I can't afford a new iPod right now (I'm 17 and dealing with school and stuff) what can I do? Is this just a temporary problem? Did I maybe accidently get something stuck in the home button? My iPod also has a screen protector and case so it's also been protected, and I always take off the case when I charge to avoid overheating. I haven't dropped it recently or anything eithier, I take good care of it. Please help!

  • IPod Touch 4G Home button random issue

    Hi everybody.
Don't know if it's from the last firmware update, or just a coincidence of time, started to have an annoying issue with my (bougth in March) iPod Touch 4G 32GB.
The home button is sometimes unresponsive. I've tried hard reset and all the things but nothing changed.
It's really a random problem, a can press il 40 times and it go well, than it happens to me that I have to press twice to wake it up when it's stand by.
Also home button can work well 30-40 times using iPod Touch, going in and out Apps, and then 1-2 time it misses completely the home button command, like I've never pressed it. Again (but less often) I press it once and the multitasking bar shows up.
It's note a huge problem, I kwon, but it's kinda annoying having a brand new, slim, beautiful thing not working properly 100%.
I'm not really into bringing it to an Apple point, 'cause the problem it's not easy to replicate, and it can easily happen that it works flawlessly for 10-15 minutes without missing a hit.
    So guys, what you say?

    - First restore from backup via iTunes.
    - Next, restore to factory defaults/new iPod
    - Lastly, bring it to Apple.

  • Is there a size difference between iPod Touch 1G home button and other versions of iPod Touch?

I have an old iPod Touch 1G home button that got stuck. So I bought a new home button to replace it and I'm having trouble fitting it in the hole that I'm replacing. I'm not sure the new button I have is for iPod Touch 1G or for other iTouch versions.
Does anyone know where I find a video how to replace iPod Touch home button and where can buy the home button if the button I have is not for 1G?

this is a shop online were you can buy the home button http://www.repairsuniverse.com/ipod-touch-1g-button-replacements.html
and this is a video telling you how to replace it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izf0HLSwL7w

  • How to fix ipod touch 4g home button(jammed)

How to fix ipod touch 4g home button(jammed)?

Hey! So I found out this free way to be able to use the home button with no cost! It won't unjam it, but using this method you will have a touchscreen homebutton.
    Directions:
    1. Go to Settings
    2. Go to General
    3. Scroll down and go to Accessibility
    4. Scroll down and go to Assistive Touch
    5. Then turn assistive touch on.
What you will see is a little white circle on the screen. When you tap this circle you have the Home button option(which functions all the ways of your jammed home button). As well as a few other options; Device, Favorites and Gestures. You can move that circle about the screen for your convenience. This is just a way to have a home button without paying to restore.

yesterday my iPod touch's home button would not work and to day it is completely turned off and wont turn back on and it is fully charged and when i connect it to itoons it dosent reckinise it

Given the information supplied, it sounds very similar to what happened to my wife's 4.  Locked up...came back on with a blank (bluish) screen...could here emails and text coming through.  It would get very hot as well.  Our local apple store tried two times to rescue it, ultimately rendering it complete inoperable.  I'm sorry to say in our case we had to buy a refurb and trade in the phone for $150, which actually wasn't a bad deal.
There could be other information I'm missing, but I would start with seeing if apple can restore your phone.  If they can't, then I'm pretty sure it's dead.

  • IPod Touch 4 Home Button Sensitivity

My iPod Touch has been causing a bit of worry for me, as it is recently playing up when I tap the home button, and sometimes it doesn't work. I have to press it like 3 times before it works? Can I get some help?

All good, I got it replaced by Apple.

  • My iPod Touch 5 home button has lost all sensitivity. What should I do?

I own a blue iPod Touch 5Gen running iOS 7.0.2. I am experiencing sensitivity problems with its home button. Really taking its toll on my thumb. Will Apple India replace the iPod or the home button for me? It is still under warranty but I have bought it in California. I would hate to make an unnecessary trip to an Apple store. Fast answers will be appreciated!

  • My iPod Touch 4g home button doesnt work

Hello. I bought a refurbished iPod touch 4g last may. When i recieved it the home button was indented into the iPod. Normally the rim of the button is flush with the glass surrounding it. With mine it was pressed down a few millimeters. I thought it was odd but ot worked fine so I didnt care. After a while the home button became slightly unresponsive and had to be pressed slightly more firmly for it to register. It kept getting worse until a few weeks it stopped working altogether. Previously i had been too lazy but I decided to send it in to Apple becuase it still had a warranty. Earlier today i got it back with a note saying that I had damaged it and it wasnt covered by the warranty. I was so ****** off because this wasn't my fault. Now i have no ideas what to do. How much would it cost to get the digitizer replaced by Apple? Should I do it myself? Is there an easier fix? Can i prove it wasnt my fault? Is it cheaper to buy another iPod?
(just fyi my ipod never got wet or damaged, i always kept it in a cas and kept it safe, before i had a 2g ipod touch and it worked fine. Are the 4gs prone to breaking?)

Yes, it should be covered by the warranty unless you spilled something on the iPod.  However, have you tried the standed fixes of:
    - Resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restoring the iPod from backup via iTunes
    - Restoring the IPod to factory defaults/new iPod
to help ensure it is a hardware problem?

  • IPod Touch 4G Home button doesn't work

I bought my iPod Touch 4G in January of 2011, so I've had it for a little over a year now.
Recently, the home button has been finicky (I had to press it repeatedly for  it to respond sometimes) and today it stopped working all together. I restored it, hoping that it was the iPod itself, but it still doesn't work. It's not stuck or anything, because I'm able to press it all the way down.
If I were to take it into the Apple store, would I have to pay to have it fixed (I never bought a warranty)? I've never dropped it or anything either.

  • Is there a way to fix an iPod touch 4G home button that isn't stuck but just doesn't work?

A couple weeks ago my home button got stuck. To fix it I found this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBfhCmq9VkA&list=WL429346A18D0B1E65 to help me out. The second option of using the charger ended up working, thus making the button work again. It was working fine after doing that but then it got stuck down again and I had to put the charger in and do that again. However, all of a sudden the home button just doesn't work anymore. It's not even stuck all the way down. I can press it repeatedly but still nothing.
I've had the iPod for about 6 months now and got it off of amazon refurbished so warranty is out of the question i'm sure. If it really is broken with no way to fix it then that's fine as i've been using assitive touch for weeks now and am used to it since i've been using it egulary since there's no other way. I just wanted to ask and make sure first before anything else though.

  • Can somebody confirm this for me: The iPod Touch's home button is smaller

    than the iPhone's home button.
I don't know if it's just my imagination or what. But I swear it is. I also notice it's much more "clicky" whereas the iPhone's is more "soft" when you push it.

I'm sure that the "clicky" or "soft" varies from unit to unit.
Why is this important to you?
We have bought an iPod Touch 3rd Gen and an iPhone 3GS.
The iPod has a much louder "clickier" button. Very annoying compared to the "soft" iPhone button.
Does anybody else has this issue with iPod Touch?
My iPod button clicks. I like it; that way I know I've clicked it. It's not annoyingly loud but it does click.

  • IPod Touch 4G Home Button is Jammed

Guys, where's the best place to bring an iPod Touch 4G for repair? It's no longer under warranty. I know I should bring to the authorized service center, but kinda hesitant to bring it to the apple service centers. word is, they don't repair stuff. they just replace the unit if it's under warranty. Is this true?
It seems to be a hardware problem. the home button is stuck. it's not just unresponsive, but it can't be pressed anymore. kinda like jammed. no clcking sound, can't be pressed, nor pop out, just lays flat. I tried the quick fixes on the net and apple forums like blowing in the ports to free up the dust, etc. nothing worked.

  • IPod Touch 3G Home Button Loose

    Hey All.
I recently got the 3rd Generation iPod 32GB Touch for Christmas and I have used it quite a bit.
I've just noticed that the home button is a bit loose if I use my finger or thumb to move it around a bit.
Are there problems for 3rd Gen iPod Touches or is it due to my excessive use and excessive use of the home button?
Thanks. If only there were exit buttons on the apps then I would not use the home button as much. Wondered if anyone could help me with this query.
    Thanks

Well my parents bought it for me. I believe they did not buy it from an Apple Store but from a store like Currys, PC World etc. Would I still be able to take it to the Apple Store with the reciept?
Is Apple most likely to fix the button or replace the whole thing?
Also I would like to know I downloaded a few apps free and paid and backed them up to my PC so if the whole machine has to be replaced would I be able to copy the apps to the new iPod Touch?
    Thanks Alot.

  • How to get rid of switch control on an iPod touch that home button isn't working and wifi is off.

My son has an iPod touch and his home button doesn't work on it. Because the home button didn't work he had the touch button on his screen to navigate through things. Last night he was out, shut his wifi off because there wasn't any wifi to connect too, and was fooling around with his iPod. Somehow he enabled switch control on his iPod, then it shut down and now can't get into it because the touch home button has disappeared, wifi still isn't connected and home button doesn't work.
We tried rebooting it and wiping it remotely, but because there isn't wifi, we can't connect. Also, it's password protected and we can't get into it from the computer because of the switch control.
Please help if you can. He's had it for two years and is feeling pretty down today, it took him a long time to save up and buy it.
    Thank you so much.
