My iPod Touch 2nd gen keeps freezing up, how can I fix this? It will freeze for like a minute, then it goes back to normal, then in a few minutes it does it again.

Question says it all.

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
-  Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
CAUTION
Before you restore the iPod make sure that your iTunes library has the version of apps that are presently installed on your iPod. Many apps have been update and the update apps are not compatible with the 2G iPod. I would do that by deleting the apps from your iTunes library and then transfer them to iTunes. See:

The iPod sees the new computer as a new iTunes library. You can only sync with one iTunes library.  However, you can manage music among disfferent computers.  See:

Create your own user account on your computer, open iTunes, log into your iTunes account on the iTunes Store then sync your iPhone.

The center button on my 5th generation ipod is stuck in the down position - How can I fix this?

I'm not sure if there really is a way to "fix" it without diassembling the iPod in some manner.  Perhaps you find or use some sort of tool that can attach itself to the center botton and allow you to pull up to try and pop it out.  Kind of like the way a plunger works, but I don't know if you'll be able to find anything that small. :S
Perhaps it would be worth it to send the iPod to a third party service company who would be able to fix it at a pretty reasonable cost. A simple Google search for "iPod repair" should give you a number of results to work with.

  • Why does my ipod touch (2nd gen) keep crashing?

I have had it for about 3 years now. I have the latest version i can possibly update to...
Over the past few months, it has been giving me a fit. Its seems like it has gotten worse...it crashes no matter what app i go to (except a few built in apps that are not very busy, like calculator). Sometimes I may be able to be on an app for 10 minutes without crashing, while other apps wont even let me get to a menu before it crashes. Even some built in apps like safari does it. I'm not sure what to do. Is this normal for the latest version a 2nd gen ipod touch can get? What can I do about this?

  • The time on my iPod Touch (2nd Gen) keeps changing

I live in Columbus, OH, so the time on my iPod Touch should be 1:19 am (as of right now.) The time was fine before, but one day I noticed that it was an hour late. So I went to setting>general>date&time on my ipod touch to change it. The time zone said New York, so I switched it back to Columbus, OH. I then set the time back one hour to the correct time. But ever since then, the time zone and time go right back to New York, and the time is one hour ahead. Either I plug it into the computer and it changes (the computer has the right time), or when I open an application on my iPod Touch, the time changes back. And when I cut it off, it does this. Why won't the correct time stay?

  • IPod Touch 2nd Gen - "One of the USB devices attached to this computer...

Advance Happy Martin Luther King Day to all,
Hi guys, I just got myself a 2nd Generation iPod Touch last December 2008. At first it really worked fine, I have never had any problem with it until today. early this morning when I was transferring a movie to my iPod, my PC froze, so what I did is pulled the USB attached to my iPod and I push the little button on my PC to restart it. Then after restarting, i tried to connect my iPod and it gave me an error saying
"One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it."
I tried, restarting my computer, reinstalling my itunes, repairing my itunes, and still it always gives me the same response when I try to connect my iPod. At first I thought that maybe my USB port really has problems and so tried using other ports but it always give me the same results. I even tried to connect my digicam, PSP and webcam and those worked properly, I also tried to run a diagnostic thru my USB ports and it worked well saying that I do not have problems with my USB Ports.
What will I do now? I tried reading here in apple support section but the only thing I found was for the iPod with the Wheel. Please help me fixing my problem.
    Thak you soooooooo much.

I've been trying to fix my own iPod for a while. Different problem but I think this might help.
Ultimately, if your computer HAS been able to recognise your iPod at one point, it's a driver problem.
You didn't specify which OS you're using, but I'll assume it's Vista.
    This might help you:
Download the new version of iTunes
Save it somewhere on your computer
UnZip the program using something like WinRAR or The Extractor
In the folder, locate Apple Mobile Device and double click it
    Remove the program
    Restart your computer
    Re-install the program
    Connect your iPod
Things should be working now. If not:
    Click Start
Type Run in the search field
    Type "devmgmt.msc"
Click OK if you are get a prompt
Scroll to Universal Serial Buses and look for "Apple iPod" or "Apple Mobile Device USB" or something to that effect. (If it's not there it may be in Imaging Devices or Portable Devices)
    Right click
    Properties
    Click the Driver tab
    Click Driver Details
    Tell me what you see.

  • Henry dropped the Ipod touch and cracked the screen.  How can I get this fixed.

    Hi,
Henry dropped his Ipod touch and cracked the screen and put in a passcode and now has forgotten his passcode.  Need to know how I can get the screen fixed and or if it is covered on the 1 year warranty?  How can I unlock the Ipod without the passcode?
Any info would be greatly helpful!
    Lori Neumann

Take to an Apple retailer. Such damage is not covered by your warranty.
A Complete Guide to Recover Your iDevice if You Forget Your Passcode
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
Try restoring the iOS device if backing up and erasing all content and settings doesn't resolve the issue. Using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition.
Before restoring your iOS device, Apple recommends that you either sync with iTunes to transfer any purchases you have made, or back up new data (data acquired after your last sync). If you have movie rentals on the device, see iTunes Store movie rental usage rights in the United States before restoring.
Follow these steps to restore your device:
Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes before attempting to update.
Connect your device to your computer.
Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
    Select the Summary tab.
    Select the Restore option.
When prompted to back up your settings before restoring, select the Back Up option (see in the image below). If you have just backed up the device, it is not necessary to create another.
Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (as long as you've backed up, you should not have to worry about restoring your iOS device).
When the restore process has completed, the device restarts and displays the Apple logo while starting up:
After a restore, the iOS device displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen. For updating to iOS 5 or later, follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. For earlier versions of iOS, keep your device connected until the "Connect to iTunes" screen goes away or you see "iPhone is activated."
The final step is to restore your device from a previous backup.
If you can not restore your device then you will need to go to recovery mode.
Placing your device into recovery mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the screen pictured below, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then start with step 2 again.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button:
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
    Additional Information:
Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information.
