My ipod touch 2nd generation is unresponsive.  When I try to connect to Itunes it is recognizing it as an iphone.  I can't do anything.  Please help.

Place the iPod in recovery and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. For recovery mode:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
