My iPod Touch 4G is recognized as a camera in Windows 7 64-bit.
I have uninstalled and re-installed iTunes many times. The iPod charges but (maybe because it is recognized as a portable device which is a Digital Camera) iTunes will not recognize it! iTunes won't even open up.
I used to use the iTunes in my Vista but I lost my whole library, but I shall ask the question of how to transfer songs from the iPod to iTunes some other time when the iTunes on my Windows 7 works!
I NEED HELP. WE HAVE BEEN BREAKING OUR HEADS TO FIND A SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM!
I have this problem too, but with my 2nd Generation iPod. I completely understand how you must be feeling, but like you, I am banging my head against the wall because I can't fix it either. I've tried everything I can think of.
The weird thing is, my iPod worked fine for about 2 years, and then out of the blue, this happened. And Apple Support refuses to help me. Thanks apple, for taking my money for this thing that won't work, and now not helping me with it. What a lovely bunch of people.
Anyway, if I figure out what's wrong, I will tell you so you can fix your iPod too. I hope that makes you feel a little better.

Your Touch is working correctly. Currently, without unsupported third party hacks, the Touch has NO disc mode. It will only show up in iTunes.
how do i put programes and games in my ipod touch
Right now, you don't. The SDK is scheduled to be released in Feburary. Then developers will be able to write programs that will be loadable. -
I can't seem to get my Ipod touch to be recognized by Itunes now that I'm using my new upgraded Windows 8 Pro. Has anyone else experienced this problem and do you have a solution?

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

My ipod touch is not recognized on itunes and will not turn on or even give me the battery sign that it is dead. I turned it off and it won't turn back on now. The screen is completely black and won't do anything. I have tried charging it over night and nothing happened. It was never near water. I have tried troubleshooting it by holding down the home button and the sleep/wake button, but nothing happened and it didn't work. What can I do to fix it?

My sons iPod touch is not recognized by iTunes, or windows. I have tried a variety of options, even resetting, but still no luck.
What does the iPod's screen say or do, when you connect it to USB port on the computer?
The article referenced is for "regular" iPods. An iPod touch is an iOS computer, so this article would be more appropriate for troubleshooting.
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
Be sure to rule out a faulty USB cable as the cause. Try another cable, or try the cable you have with another device that has a dock connector.
Also, you should do this test to rule out a problem with the USB port (such as lack of power or USB device conflict). Shut down (power off) the computer and disconnect all USB devices, including any hub, except for standard keyboard and mouse (if normally used). If the computer is a laptop, connect its power adapter (so that it's not running on battery power).
Then, start up the computer, run iTunes, and connect iPod to a direct USB port on the computer. If it still does not connect, connect something else to the same USB port to confirm it is working. Preferably, use something similar, such as a USB flash drive or external drive. -

Ipod Touch is'nt recognized in Windows or Itunes
Hello, my Problem is that my Ipod Touch isn't Recognized in Windows or Itunes on my PC, on a Friends PC it works fine, so u guess the Ipod is ok..
1. I tried everything Restarted Apple Mobile Device Service and reinstalled
2. Reinstalled Itunes
3. Reinstalled Windows
4. Other USB Ports
5. Recovery Mode (In Recovery Mode the Ipod is recognized but can't Restore because bevore it Restores completly it gets automaticly disconnected and does'nt connect again)
I Restored my Ipod at the PC from my Friend, but it still doesn't work here.
The USB Ports also can't be the Problem, since all other USB Devices work fine. And the Ipod Touch worked fine as well till a few Days ago.
Every Help is appreciated.Hi,
What's the make and model of the PC? Is it a desktop or laptop PC?
Make sure the iPod touch is directly connected to a high-speed USB2 port on the PC. The tips in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1286 will help rule out USB connection issues.
What security software is running on the PC?
If you haven't already, try to reconfigure, update, or uninstall the security software, as suggested here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3125.
Also, this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1852 provides general tips that will resolve most issues that prevent the iPhone from being recognized by iTunes.

Ipod touch not being recognized by itunes (but is registering as an external drive by the computer itself) have updated and reinstalled itunes, stopped/started apple mobile device and removed any mobile programs associated with my non apple cellphone. This seems to have started happening after the last Itunes update I did as I was able to put music on my ipod touch a month or so ago. Is there some way to go back to an older version of itunes? I really have no idea what else to do since I followed every step on the trouble shooting page for windows 8.
I had this problem too and my roommate solved it!
Go to 'Settings'
'Music'
Scroll to the bottom and enter your password to log onto your home sharing
Then connect to iTunes and sync! -

Ipod touch is not recognized by itunes
Why is my ipod touch is not recognized by itunes? I have tried everything that the troubleshooting guide says and nothing works. Anyone have any other suggestions?
Just what have you tried. There are many Apple articles on the subject and it easy to miss one or more. Did it work before? Did you do anything to the computer since it last worked? oDoes the iPod work OK? Have you tried:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
iPod not recognized in 'My Computer' and in iTunes for Windows
iPod: Does not appear in Windows or iTunes and Device Manager is empty -
Ipod touch doesn't recognized by itunes password
My ipod touch doesn't recognized my itunes password, so I am not able to purchase anything from the ipod touch, but I am able to do it through my computer.
Try going to Settings>Store and sign out and then sign back in.
This is assuming that your problem is that when you try to make a purchase the PW you enter at the prompt is said to be incorrect.
