My iPod touch 4g will only charge in my laptop

When plug it into the mains charger the light goes green but on my iPod there is no sign of it being charged, I also tried charging it in my xbox but still nothing happened.

- It could be that the XBx does not provide the current necessary for charging.
- Where did the wall charger come from? what voltage and current is specified on the wall charger for its output?
- Does the wall charger work for other devices?
- Are you using the same cable for the wall charger and XBox that works with the laptop?

You'll need to switch off iTunes Match on the device & sync the iPod with iTunes as hopefully you've kept all your music on your PC.

- Are you sure you have a 2G iPod and not a 1G? Yucan can itell the difference here by the shape of the black antenna cover on the back of the iPOd.

Brand New iPod Touch 4G will not charge, or turn on

Hello.
I have a brand new iPod Touch 4G, and when I plug it into my computer, nothing happens. My computer for some reason is not reading this iPod Touch;
I have no other way to charge it.
No damage has been done to the product from my observation.
I have tried to restore it, reset it, and other things like that, but iTunes still isn't picking it up, as well as my computer..
I am on a Windows 7 Starter Notebook, with 3 USB ports (that probably are not high-powered), and for some reason it just doesn't want to charge.
I'm going to take it to school with me later to see if it will charge, but in the mean time, do you guys have anything that could possibly get my computer to start reading this iDevice?

I have tried a different machine, and it is not my computer.
I have plugged a different iPod into this charger and it charges just fine.
So, it's the iPod its self.
I read an article somewhere and it said that
If your iPod is formatted to work with Macintosh, windows will not read it.
So, I'm thinking my iPod is formatted for Macintosh, (I cannot format it for windows), because it is completely dead, and it won't turn on.
So, should I try a wall charger as my last resort to try and get it to turn on?!

I got an iPod touch 5 in 2012. i have bought 4 and they worked for a few weeks then didnt work. The most recent cable i had will not charge unless held in a certain way. However now the iPod wont turn on at all what should i do? How can i fix it?

When I attach my headphones to my ipod touch 4G, it will play music normally, but when I remove, it will not play through the speakers, nor am I able to control the volume as the volume bar will disappear and the external buttons will not work.

You can try the standard fixes to rule out a software problem:
- Reset. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory defaults/new iPOd.

I have plugged my iPod into 2 different computers (one mac, one PC) using 2 different Apple iPod cords and I cannot get the iPod to charge. The computer does not recognize the iPod as being plugged in, so I cannot sync either. Basically nothing happens, so I'm worried something is wrong with the dock connector on the iPod! Any suggestions?

My sons ipod touch 2gen will not charge on the pc anymore but my daugthers does

I have tried a restart and also held down the home/soft touch and tried that. I have also re downloaded i tunes and still nothing. the only way to charge is to use his stero which is charging it for us, but i can't upgrade this i pod because it wont even recongise it in. i tried different cords, usb outlit. please help!!!

Truck stereo will play iPod touch be will not charge it's battery

My truck stereo will play the gen. 4 touch 32 GB, but will not charge it's battery. It did play and charge the battery for the nano 8GB with no problems for several years previously before switching it out with the iPod touch last week. What gives?

My ipod touch 4G will only show apple logo, and can't be turned on and off?

It eventually runs out of battery but that doesn't change anything. All i can do is hold down the power and home screen button simultaneosly for a while. After this it flashes white then black then back to logo. Anyone know what to do? I plug it into my computer and it doesn't show up or anything. Any suggestions? my itouch hasen't had problems before or anything.

HT201263 I have an iPod touch which will not charge even after staying on cable for days. It shows the red line on battery, and wont do anything else. Any tips for bringing this back from the dead?

I have done everything suggested by Apple. It does not show up in iTunes. It is a model A1288. It was working fine until the battery ran down. I hate to throw things away.

Ipod touch 4 will only play music through Bluetooth device.

My daughter's iPod Touch 4 iOS 6.1.5 will not play music or video through onboard speaker or headphones. Music and videos will not even run unless Bluetooth is enabled and the device is connected to the Bluetooth speaker. I have tried blowing out the headphone jack and different sets of headphones.
Will restoring the iOS help solve this?

As I said in a reply to your other post, it will help if you have a software problem. Not if it is a hardware problem.
