My iPod touch 4g won't turn on. Some one help me!

It was working fine a few hours ago & then I turned it off because my home button wasn't working. At all. & when I turned it back on my lock screen was taking longer than usual to unlock. So I left it alone for about half an hour & when I went back to it, it was off. I tried to turn it back on and nothing happened. I tried to sync it to iTunes and nothing happened. I put it to charge and nothing happened. I swear there's a way I can fix this. But I don't know how seeing as most solutions include the home button & mine simply just doesn't work. Someone help me out please! I could really use it.

I've tried it, but it doesn't work because my home button doesn't work.

  • My iPod Touch (3G) won't turn on?

I've owned my iPod Touch since June 30th, 2010 (a little over a year). I am no longer under the warranty, so I know that if my iPod is broken, I will have to pay. My iPod has been dropped several times, it has cracks in the screen, but the screen hasn't chipped away like others. It's never been dropped in water, so I don't think water is the problem. I'm also positive the headphone jack is broken, as several pairs of working headphones have not worked on it unless a decent amount of pressure is applied. Anyways, back to the major problem. My iPod will not turn on. I'll hold the power and home button, and the apple logo will come up, but it won't take me to the lock screen, it will simply go black again. It won't charge at all, and the only time I can successfully turn it on is when the iPod is "charging". However, the second I unplug it, it goes all black. All help is appreciated!! Thanks!

Same problem here - Ipod touch 3G won't turn on. I've tried reseting - but absolutely no response and when I try to restore, before it completes the restore, error 1600 comes up. This is my daughter's ipod and we've tried all of this after plugging in to a wall charger overnight and then using a pc and then mac and still nothing. Any suggestions?

    OR use this method
    1. Press-hold the Home button (big circle below the screen)and the Sleep/Wake button (on top of the iPhone) simultaneously.
    2. Continue holding both buttons (Ignore the"Slide to power off") until the iPhone shuts off and begins to restart.
3.You may let go when you see the silver Applelogo.
    Thats all Folks!!

  • IPod Touch 1G won't turn on or show in iTunes

I have an iPod Touch 1G 16GB with firmware version 2.2.1 and it just won't turn on and iTunes thinks it's inexistant. I think it could be in recovery mode but iTunes is ignoring it. Please help so I don't have to buy a new one since this one cost me £380 !!!

I know this maybe a little too late judging from the date of post, but for those still experiencing this problem, you may want to consider this hard restore method which worked for me.
Tip courtesy From aarond-sf of sioux falls, sd, Registered: Mar 30, 2009:
Have you've tried holding down the power button for several seconds?
If so and you're still getting nothing you may have to do a hard restore.
here's how to do it on Mac OS:
    1. Connect you're iPod to the computer with the sync cable, and open iTunes.
    2. Hold down the power and home buttons for 10seconds, then release the power button (continue holding the home button for about another 6-8 seconds). iTunes should display a message stating that the iPod is in restore mode and needs to be restored before it can be used (or something to that effect).
3.Hitting the restore button will likely give an error message. You'll need to hold down option and click the restore button, which will bring up a file browser. Navigate to <your user name>/Library/iTunes/iPod Software Updates/ and choose iPod2,12.2.1_5H11aRestore.ipsw (or similar ipsw file depending on your ipod, or iphone, generally choose the newest one) and click open.
    4. Wait for it to restore, when that's finished you should be able to further restore it using the backup that was generated when you last synced it.
I have never done this on windoze, but I imagine it's quite similar, just not sure where you'd find the ipsw file.

  • IPod Touch 2G won't turn on or go to restore mode.

    - Hi, my almost-2 year old iPod Touch got very hot and turned off itself like 4 months ago, and now it won't turn on or nothing.
I tried to prees all the buttons at the same time, home+sleep, trying to get it to DFU and nothing, even the computer doesn't detects it.
I tried with 5 different cables, a sync-base, wall-chargers, and I'm tired of trying things.
Can someone help me? I need my iPod so bad.
    Thanks.

Based on the troubleshooting you performed and the "hot" ipod that atarted the problem, I suspect you have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My Ipod touch 4g won't turn on!!

Hi, This has happened before, while i was charging it, my iPod slowly turned white, and when i press both the home screen and the on/off button it turned off and went black. The problem is that i can't  turn it back on, no matter what i do. It was so hot, that I can't even touch it without burning myself! A while later, it started to cool off, but it still won't turn on. I tried reseting it but it did not work. This has happened before, but i still had a warranty on it so i took it in to the Apple store and got another one. So I'm hoping it works again so i don't have to bring it in again, but in case it doesn't turn on, will i still get another one because my warranty hasn't expired yet. Keep in mind this will be my third iPod, if i do get another one yikes!

    - Does it make a sound when you connect it to a computer?
    - Have you tried charging it for an hour or so and then try resetting (Home and Power button for 10 seconds or so)
    - Next would be to place it in recovery mode ad then trying to restore. See
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
    - Last would be to put it in DFU mode and then they try restoring it.

  • IPod Touch 4G won't turn on

I got a serious problem now. Right now, I think my iPod is dead and I might take it to an Apple Store. Here are the signs I'm getting:
Black screen like it's locked or turned off, even in recovery mode.
iTunes won't detect it unless in recovery mode/DFU mode.
When trying to restore, iTunes keeps giving an error code 1600. Tried other USB cables, USB ports, computers, Mac or PC.
Any other suggestions that I haven't tried yet I'll accept.

  • IPod touch 4g won't turn on and my home button is broken

My iPod touch that I just got last March won't turn on after putting it to "sleep" while I was in class today. My Home Button does not respond that well so I used SBSettings as an alternative. I've encountered this situation before but my Home Button was 100% working back then. I resolved it by holding the Home Button and the Power Button at the same time. Now that my Home Button is broken, I can't fix it anymore. Does anyone know any alternatives on how to fix this?

I was playing on my Ipod, then I left it sitting in my room for a few minutes still on and came back it was just a black screen, I can't turn it on, charge it on my laptop or plugged in the wall and none of the resetting buttons work, also I don't want to particularly reset my Ipod as its not backed up and so I would lose everything, please help, thanks.

  • IPod Touch 3G won't turn on or enter recovery mode, but is recognized by iT

I recently put new songs on my ipod touch 3rd gen and they started skipping when I was listening to them so I decided to Restore it. So I went through the whole process and it went through I guess what they call a "Recovery Loop". So it keeps Restoring and then keeps saying "This iPod can't be used with iTunes until it has been restored". It keeps looping over and over! Now the iPod doesn't turn on at all and doesn't enter DFU mode however it is recognized by iTunes.
    HELP!

I think you have a couple of hardware problem:
    - The grayed-out wifi indicate one hardware problem:
iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
    - Not using a battery for extended periods of time can cause battery failure. Thus, your battery may be dead.
    - I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
