My iPod Touch 4gen turn on or reset no matter what I try?

My iPod Touch won't start no matter what I try. For a while it wasn't being used and when I tried it wouldn't turn on. I tried charging it thinking it just might be dead but nothing still. Plugging it into the computer doesn't help neither. Also when Iplug it in iTunes does not open up like if it's responding to a device. I've tried the holding down the home botton and power down for seconds but again nothing.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My ipod mini wont turn on at all no matter what i try

I've tried toggling the hold button while holding down the menu and select buttons, and i've tried a few other things that i have been told to in the situation that my ipod wont turn on, but none of them will work. right now it's hooked up to the usb cable on my computer, and it has been for the last couple days. i think all this might be because ive been too lazy to click eject before i unhook it a couple of times before, but i dont know.

I've tried toggling the hold button while holding down the menu and select buttons
It seems you are not performing the reset correctly. Don't worry about the hold switch...just press and hold menu and select simultaneously for about 6 seconds until you see the Apple logo appear. If you have an AC adapter, plug the iPod into the wall socket using this and then try the reset.
i think all this might be because ive been too lazy to click eject before i unhook it
Bad idea! You should always eject it properly or you risk corrupting the hard drive...it would be a shame to have to fork out for another iPod just because of laziness!

  • For 19 hours my iPod touch is displaying a black screen, no matter what I do.  It appears to be reloading.  I've tried everything.

My iPod touch has 'freezed up'.  It has displayed a black screen, which appears to be reloading.  I've tried to turn it off, I have also charged it; connected it to my MacBook and 'Restored' it.  However, nothing has worked.  It still appears to be reloading.  It is going on 20 hours since the problem started.  I have a 32GB iPod touch 3rd Generation.

Have you tried resetting the iPod?
    Try this:
Press the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time.
Hold until the Apple Logo appears.

  • My Ipod touch doesn't seem to charge no matter what I do

sounds like it had an hardware or software clash and it's easy to fix it 2ways
1st was isan soft reset no data on the ipod will be lost
press and hold both the power and home for 15-30 sec's till the apple logo shows and it should reboot if that does not work
2nd is an restore to factory setting all data u downloaded to the ipod will be lost
this can be done in two way's

2nd way hold the power button for 3 sec's keep it held in now hold in the home button and keep both held in the screen goes black let go of the power and keep the home held in till the screen on the ipod will go blue and show the itunes logo with cdan up arrow and the usvb cable plug in to computer and open itunes and itunes willl start the restore

  • IPod Touch (2nd Gen) Won't Restore No Matter What I Do? Not Even Force Restore?

I've tried rebooting my laptop and plugging my cord into a different thing. I've tried force restore. I've tried restoring it on different computers. I've tried using different cords to plug my ipod into. NOTHING works.

    - Try placing the iPod in Recovery mode and then restore.
    - Next try DFU mode.

  • My ipod touch 4th generation adjusts the volume no matter what headphones i have plugged in. why is this? how can it be fixed?

will apple fix this for me even if im not under warrenty? it gwets annoying having to take my ipod out of my pocket every time i have to turn it up.

They can give you a replacement unit for a flat fee if it's no longer in warranty. See here for pricing.

If a reset, restore from backup, or restore to factory defaults fails to resolve the issue, it's mostly hardware related. In that case setup a replace or repairment either through Apple or a third party repair company.

  • My settings keep resetting no matter what I try

I have been having a couple problems with my settings. It has happened a few times already, this time it started with iTunes, and it started like i just reinstalled, then it moved to Safari, and caused the setting to go back to factory setting. Now I had deleted some extra stuff on my laptop so i had to restart because i am running filevault, once I restart, everything was fine, and my setting were ok, but then I put my laptop to sleep, and when i woke it up everything went back to factory settings, all my preferences in applications and overall on the desktop. I am not really sure what to do? does anybody else know?
    Powerbook G4 1.67   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

well I havent changed my username ever since i started using my laptop, and i finally figured out not to use filevault but now i have to first free up some disk space so I can turn it off, because supposedly it needs just as much space open as much as it takes up. So if I havent changed my username do you know what else it could be?

What battery life are you getting?  Is it short when you are using the iPod? When it is sleeping?

  • 1st Gen. iPod touch wont turn on. Home button doesn't work. Can't reset.

Hi there.  My 1st generation iPod touch wont turn on.  The battery has drained completely, and the few times this happened in the past, I could just reset it by holding the home and top buttons, the iPod would turn on, I could plug it in, and then it would charge--no problems.  However, now the home button does not work, so I cannot reset it. When I plug it in to the charger, the Apple logo appears for about 20 seconds, then disappears.  Also, if I hold the top button for about 2 seconds, the same thing happens (Apple logo appears for about 20 seconds, then disappears).  So, it doesn't turn on, wont reset due to the home button not working, and can't connect to the computer or iTunes.  However, it still has some life in it because the Apple logo always appears when it's plugged in or when I hold the top button.  Can anybody help?  Thanks.
