My iPod Touch 4th gen is disabled for 22,000,000 minutes. I remember the passcode, and I can't restore.

My iPod Touch 4th gen is disabled for 22,000,000 minutes. I have looked all around the Apple support communities and I always find the same "solution", which is to put it into DFU or recovery mode and restore from a backup. Here's my problem: My computer crashed awhile back and I had to completely start over from scratch. So, unfortunately, a backup of my device no longer exists on this computer or any other computer.
Is there any way I can simply get rid of the disable? I remember my passcode, so that isn't a problem, all I need is to be able to input my passcode.
Or, do I absolutely have to restore to factory settings, and lose all my data?
By the way, I hope it does not matter, but I can't remember the IOS is was last updated with.
Thanks.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

For how to restore:
iTunes: Restoring iOS software
To restore from backup see:
iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

    Try a reset:
Hold the Sleep and Home button down until you see the Apple logo.

    Try:
    - Reset the dock
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
Otherwise you are out of luck. Apple is not making any more update for the 4G.
Also check with Phillips. Maybe they have an firmware update available

  • If I replace my Ipod touch 4th gen screen with a local company other than Apple will the apple warrenty be void or will the warrenty be void if I replace the screen myself?

If I replace my Ipod touch 4th gen screen with a local company other then Apple will the Apple warrenty be void or will the warrenty be void if I replace the screen myself?

Regardless of what Apple may or may not say about repair work done by a third party (a non-Apple company or you yourself), the Magnuson-Moss Act precludes them from voiding your warranty simply because you had work done by a third party or used non-OEM parts.  Typically people hear of thie Act as it is applied to cars. Car manufacturers cannot require you go to a dealership for repairs or that you use OEM parts. They cannot void your warranty for doing that. The Act applies to all consumer goods. Computer manufacturers cannot require you send your computer to them for memory upgrades or that you use memory supplied by them. Apple cannot require you to go to Apple for repair work or that you use Apple parts in that repair.
With that said, though, if you have a problem in the future, Apple could make the claim that it was the result of damage from improper repair or substandard parts. Your only recourse would be the court system, not a quick or inexpensive endeavor.

  • My iPod touch 4th gen keeps asking for my iCloud password and it won't backup to my iCloud anymore.

My iPod touch 4th gen 8gb started to ask me for my iCloud password multiple times even when I put the correct password multiple times. I also checked my iCloud on my iPod and said that the latest backup to iCloud is unknown and says that my iCloud storage details are currently unavailable. Try again later. My iphone 4 also backs up to my iCloud but works perfectly fine. I can't get my email anymore on my iPod either. This started like yesterday and was working fine for a long time.

What if you try after tuning off  two-step verification?

  • How do I get my new iPod Touch (4th gen) to authorize for old purchases?

Recently, I upgraded to the iPod Touch 4th generation model. Unfortunately, even though I have authorized my PC for the new device repeatedly, old purchases cannot be synced. I continue to get the error message that I am not authorized on the computer. My Apple ID and password have not changed and now I am out hundreds of dollars in songs and movies I simply cannot load to the new iPod. Any suggestions in resolving this issue?

  • IPod Touch 4th gen is disabled

Hi, My teenaged daughter lost her iPod at school but it was turned in 3 days later. The screen says "iPod is disabled / Connect to iTunes" so it looks like someone tried  putting the wrong passcode in too many times and got locked out. While we are happy to have it back, she has never synced it to a computer and did not have iCloud turned on. Looking at Apple Support, it says we have to erase it to get it to work again, and to do it remotely through Find My iPod, which we think we did. BUT the erase won't take place until the iPod is connected to the Internet and of course, she can't connect it to the Internet because it is disabled! Am I missing something, or are we in a Catch-22?? Hoping to solve this in the community as we can't get to an Apple store for a while. Thanks in advance for any tips!

The iPod only has to be connected to a computer running iTunes, not the internet.
You need to restore it using the recovery mode as described in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212 and it may take more than one time to succeed.

  • I have an ipod touch 4th gen. charged twice battery went dead now will not charge or power on. what can I do?

I have had my 4th gen ipod touch for over a yr. But I've only charged it twice now it wont charge or power up. I have had ppl try resetting it. But no change. Is there something I can do to fix it?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • I was changing album art on my ipod touch 4th gen with a different laptop then all my music disappeared (the titles are still there but the music is gone and the space is empty) i recently updated to ios 6 and the laptop im using just got itunes on it

i chose not to sync my ipod for fear i would lose all my songs because the new laptop had no songs. ni chose to manage files manually, and after around 3 chages my ipod only read my purchased songs. so i unplugged my ipod and pluggd it back in. the laptop said i had all of my music in my ipod. after this the titles appeared but they were that light gray color and i couldnt play them. what happened???

That suggests the track is damaged.
If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copy of the track and try redownloading a fresh one. See the following document for instructions:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

  • After updating iOS 6 in my iPod Touch 4th Gen, my Synced photos from computer are all gone. The remaining pictures are only in the Camera Roll. HELP THANKS :)

Hello! I updated my itouch 4g with iOS 6 using iTunes at Windows 7. After updating, my musics and videos are still there but my synced photos from the computer are lost. The only remaining photos are from the Camera Roll. I lost 4000 photos. What will I do to restore them? Thanks for thise who will help :)

You need to obtain the synced photos from where you obtained them the first time. Synced media like apps, music and synced photos are not included in the backup that iTunes makes as the first step of an update or restore.

My sons iPod touch 4th gen is disabled as he forgot his pass code. I have tried to force a reset but the iPod has never been synced before with any pc it comes up with error asking for pass code. What can I do?

Use any computer with iTunes and Restore as new.  Since it has never been synced, he will lose all of his data.
