  • My ipod touch 4th gen isn't recognized on my itunes and if i restore it it says i cant because of the forgotten passcode

I tried to put it in restore but my sisters passcode is still on it and she forgot it and i cant restore it because of the passcode.

Place the iPod in recovery mode and then restore via iTunes. For recovery mode:

  • IPod Touch 4th Gen isn't detected on Windows 7 Starter

Device: iPod Touch 4th Gen (lastest update)
    iTunes Version: Latest Version
Operating System: Windows 7 Starter (A netbook computer)
My friend just started having this issue with his netbook where his iPod Touch will not be detected at all not even under My Computer. It will charge the device however it will not sync.
Before he had the iTunes Wifi Sync on, but it wasn't really working either for some odd reason.
On booting iTunes I noticed it kept coming up with the need to downgrade to be compatible for iTunes to run probably. I assume the latest version of iTunes cannot naturally run on Windows 7 Starter with downgrading to a lower compatiblity likely either it downgraded to Vista or XP compatibility.
I was wondering with it was an iTunes sync service was not turned on, but another friend had brought her iPhone and right away that device appeared in iTunes so it appears to be a issue with the iPod itself. We swapped usb cables in hopes that his older more worn cable may have been the issue, but still not luck.
We had used all of the following listed from this page: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538. As well as another which I can't seem to find that had about 15 items to try.
So basically it doesn't show up as even a usb device in the "Device and Printers" window or as a device under "My Computer".
    Thanks for your time.

    - As asked for the versions since many users think that have the "latest" when they do not have the latest version/
    - Q4: I said no that the iPod Touch 4G does not show up in iTunes/My Computer in my post. Please My question read my post.
My queston is does your iPod show up in iTunes when you conenct the iPod to another computer.
"If you connect the 4G iPod to another computer does it show in iTunes/My Computer?"
    If no:
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • IPod Touch 4th Gen won't connect to my computer, charge or connect to iTunes.

Okay, here is the issue. My computer runs Windows Vista. Ever since I have updated iTunes to 11.0.2, my iPod touch hasn't been able to connect to the computer at all. I don't know if there is any correlation between the update and my issue, but I need someone to be the judge of that. Apple has suggested that you uninstall iTunes, QuickTime, etc. restart the computer and then reinstall them. So I have done that multiple times, and my iPod still won't connect to the computer. My sister's iPod touch, 4th gen just like mine won't connect to iTunes or the computer either. I have spent a lot of time looking up possible solutions, but none of them work at all. I've done everything Apple suggests in troubleshooting and such, but nothing works. I was hoping someone else might be able to give me a solution. One that hopefully does not involve uninstalling and reinstalling Apples programs, which I have done several times.
I have tried all accessable USB ports on my computer, and I have switched between the four different USB cords that we have, so this isn't the issue. My PS Vita will connect to the computer with no issue at all, so it isn't the USB ports either. I can plug my iPod Touch into my PS3 and it will charge the instant I plug either end of the cable in, the same for my sister's. I can plug it into the dock on my mother's alarm clock and it will charge just fine. I'm open to any suggestion, so please help me out here.

    So you tried everything here:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
If you  have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar
Try connecting to another computer to help determine if you have an iPod or computer problem.

  • New IPod Touch 4th Gen isn't being recognized by my computer or itunes.

I got a new IPod Touch yesterday and I am finally getting the time to sit down and set everything up and when I plugged it in it makes the charging sound but itunes is not finding it and neither is my computer. I've been messing with it for hours now and at one point my computer thought the IPod was a camera. I've tried updating itunes to the newest version, uninstaling/reinstaling the drivers, even tried updating the IPod to iOS 6 thinking that might help but still nothing. What am I missing?

  • My iPod Touch 4th Gen isn't receiving messages,

but only from certain people. And it is sending them fine. My friend is responding on a texting app I have, because iMessage is being so weird. Anyone else have this problem? Know how to fix it? I tried logging out and then back on to my iMessage, that just succeeded in clearing all my messages.

You said " My friend is responding on a texting app ".
You can only receive in the Messages app, Messages from other iOS devices (iPod touch iPhone or iPad) who sent it via the Messages app on their device.
There are third-party apps like Text + thast work with other devices.

  • Ipod touch (4th gen) not recognised by windows 7 computer!

    Hello everyone
I have been unable to use itunes for a good while now because my computer will not recognise my ipod touch. My laptop makes a noise like it is configuring when I plug my ipod into it but then absolutely nothing happens. When I checked apple mobile support it was installed but when I go to device manager nothing appears. I have uninstalled itunes and reinstalled regularly and nothing solves the problem. I am completely out of solutions, any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Does the iPod work?
    Does it charge?

  • Ipod Touch 3rd Gen isn't recognized by ITunes.

So I bought my 3g today and everything was working lovely. Later though, I open up ITunes. ITunes decided that It wanted to act like this was the first time it had ever been used. So it shows me the 'welcome to ITunes' setup window. I go through through that ordeal but then I notice my ipod isn't showing up in the sidebar. So I go through troubleshooting and the 5 R's thing to no avail. So i reinstall ITunes expecting a fix. Since I'm posting here you could guess I still have the problem.
    Things I Know:
My Ipod is charging, it has the green battery symbol.
Anytime it's plugged in it shows the 'scanner and camera wizard instantly, even though there are no pictures to copy over.
I tried plugging in my sister's 1st gen touch and got the same results.
Any help would be appreciated guys, I'd prefer not to have to return this thing.

  • Ipod touch 4th gen will not connect to my computer or itunes

Everytime I plug it in, the laptop says that the ipod is a camera and does not automatically open itunes. Then the message of "MobileDeviceService has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." shows up.
When I click to see the data of the error report it says this:
    szAppName: AppleMobileDeviceService.exe
    szAppVer: 17.88.0.7
    szModName: kernel32.dll
    szModVer: 5.1.2600.5781
    offset: 00012afb
I have Windows XP and have tried all of the troubleshooting tips, like reinstalling itunes and stopping and restarting mobile device services. Nothing works. I can plug it into my sister's laptop, which has Windows 7 and it works fine.
    Can someone help me please?
