My ipod touch 4th generation wont restore or turn on, how do i fix it?

I was using my ipod as usual, nothing seemed wrong with it and it died because it needed a charge.
so i put it on the charger and when i went back to grab it for use it wouldnt turn on and my itunes was telling me i needed to download the newer itunes and also restore my ipod. Im a little upset about having to restore it, but what other choice do i have? but the worse part is it wont let me restore it.
its telling me there was a problem restoring it and it said the problem number is 1601 i think. i dont know what that means so i dont know how to fix it so if anyone else knows please let me know. its the only way i have to contact my friends and family. im losing everything off my ipod including pictures from when my daughter was born and also the  video from a very good friends wedding. so please let me know what i can do to fix this error.

  • The songs that I bought first with my iPod touch (4th generation) have randomly deleted themselves. How can I fix this?

I first got my iPod about two years ago and recently when I got an iPhone 5s, I noticed that some of my songs have been deleted, randomly. I looked under my purchased songs and there is no trace that I previously bought these songs. Another problem that I am dealing with is that some of my songs are being cut off. The song will start out fine, a few days later it will be cut off, and a few days after that the song will be cut off even more! I went through iTunes to see if I would be able to rebuy the songs (ludacris, I know), but each song is labeled as purchased. Are there anyways that I can fix these problems?!

Do you have any Restrictions set that would prevent those songs from being listed under purchased? Go to Settings>General>Restrictions and check/change.
    Otherwise contact iTunes.

  • My ipod touch 4th generation wont play music

My ipod touch 4th generation wont play music. I hit the play button and it turns into a pause button but the music does not play and the song length thing stays at 0:00. It is brand new and has not been damaged. No songs are greyed out. Certain songs play but most dont. Please help.

I have same issue with iPad3.  all songs play great, both songs I have downloaded and ones on iPad, except 2 albums by same artist that I bought from iTunes.  maybe more, but I have not found any others that seemingly hang exactly as you describe at 0.00 seconds and with pause button displayed.
mindful meditation in everyday life and mindful meditation workshop....Jon-kabat zinn.  I can play these on my iPhone which is on same account without issue.
I also checked console and don't see any relevant messages.
    I have restarted.
I have not restored from backup, but I did do a complete restore a few days ago....I had lost my ipad(left in cart at Walmart), so sent remote wipe command....but got it back!  iCloud restore was perfect.  I takes a while, so hoping to avoid another restore and would rather find the issue.
    please advise.
    thanks,

  • My iPod Touch 4th Generation 8gb won't turn on and is frozen on the loading symbol/wheel, I tried the method where you hold the home and lock button lots of times and it hasn't worked! What do I do?

My question won't all fit in but it says 'My iPod Touch 4th Generation 8gb won't turn on and is frozen on the loading symbol/wheel. What do I do?'
I've had this problem from about two weeks and I forgot about it, but today I wanted to play on it and remembered that it's not working, I've tried connecting it to iTunes via my laptop but I'm not to sure how to update it because I thought that might fix it, but no luck. I've tried the trick where you hold the lock and home button but nothing happened apart from it just went back to the apple logo and then to the frozen loading symbol/wheel. I need help!

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • How to fix an ipod touch 4th generation that will not turn on or charge

My ipod touch 4th generation randomly turned off and will not turn back on or charge.  I have tried restarting it, resetting it, and letting it "charge" for weeks but nothing has worked.  It is not registered by itunes when plugged into the computer either and there hasn't been anything dramatically done to it.  I also cannot do anything to update its software since it isn't being recognized by itunes or turning on.
Thanks in advance to whoever has helpful information!

  • My ipod touch 4th generation wont turn on

Ok my Ipod 4th generation wont turn on at all ive tried holding the buttons connecting it to Itunes (which by the way says nothings connected) and nothing is happening at all. My battery was halfway charged and after I put my ipod to sleep it wouldnt turn on anymore. Can anybody help me please?

Try putting it in DFU mode. Here is how to put it in dfu mode:
    1. First, Open up iTunes, plug in your iPod Touch/iPhone to the CPU's USB port. Turn on your CPU's speaker and make sure it is loud enough that you can hear it.
    2. Hold down the Home button (top left for iPod Touch and top right for the iPhone with the screen facing you) and the Power button (located on the front bottom of your iPod Touch/iPhone) simutaneously, until the screen goes black and the device turns off. (past the red slider/slide to power off screen)
    3. Now let go of the Power button, but continue to hold the Home button. Your iPod Touch/iPhone should have turned off and the screen should not be on.
    4. After around ~10-20 seconds, you will hear a noise (beep/ding) from your CPU as if it had just recognized a new hardware device, now iTunes should recognize it in DFU mode.
    5. After iTunes recognizes the iPod Touch/iPhone, let go of the Home button otherwise it will go into recovery mode and you will have to do the entire DFU process over again.
    6. You will know when you have put your iPod Touch/iPhone correctly into DFU mode when the display is blank and that you do not have anything on your device.
And you are done, now you can install any iPod Touch/iPhone firmware on to your device via the iTunes SHIFT recovery method.

  • HELP... Ipod Touch 4th Gen - wont restore

Hi,first time posting in the form and desperate for some help. I purchased the Ipod touch 4th gen for my 12 yr old daughter for Christmas 2010, it's work great until last night when I connect it to my PC to download the lastest updates. During the restoring process it gives me the message "The ipod "ipod" could not be restored. An unknown error occured (9)" Each time I connect my ipod to my PC it tells me "you must restore this ipod before it can be used with iTunes." I hit recovery and it goes through the recovery part to verify the ipod restore, but when it gets to the last step it gives the unknown error message again. It's a vicious loop of dissappointments each time I try to restore it. I've search the internet and tried almost everything and nothing seems to work. If anyone else has experience this and resolved this issue please let me know.

Yes, unfortunately I've tried that several times and other suggestions mentioned in this form but none seem to work for me. I'm really at a lost because its always updated great with no problems until I was request to update to the 4.3.2 version. PLEASE HELP!

  • IPod Touch 4th Generation wont sync with iTunes on Windows 7

Ok. I am going to make this quick. I just bought a new ipod off amazon from Apple. its a 35Gb 4th Generation ipod touch. I am able to sync my itunes library sometimes. Only SOMETIMES. I have about 1200 song on it now. But evertime i plug my ipod into my PC. iTunes comes up, but freezes up. itunes works fine when the ipod is not connected, but when it is, it freezes up. I can leave it for about 5 minuets and it will unfreeze and i will be able to use itnes, but itunes wont show my ipod is connected. AT ALL. I did the diagnostic, but that freezes up to. Only sometimes will it sync. I updated to the latest version. I think this is either a issue with itunes or the ipod. because my brother has the new nano, and his syncs perfectly fine everytime. Only on my account on windows 7 with MY $300.00 ipod touch will it not work. Anyone help me out here.
This is what i have done so far:
Reset ipod via sleep wake and home key while connected < no fix
Ended any process in the background of windows, that may affect itunes < No fix
updated to latest itunes version and ipod version < No fix
That's all i could think of. This evidently is sync issue.
    ANY HELP?

    I would try these:

I just purchased an ipod touch 1st Gen 16gb from ebay, its second hand but the company that sold it to me have said its been fully checked and works perfectly. However When I have tried to sync my songs to it itunes freezes and i have to close it down. So i tried to restore the ipod on 2 different computers and now it wont restore. In itunes it just has the preparing ipod for restore logo flashing and then doesnt do anything else. As mentioned have tried it on 2 different computers, one running windows 7 and another running windows xp. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.  I supsect a hardware problem, maybe a dead battery.
