My iPod touch 5 will try to turn on but never will

So yesterday I was doing stuff on my iPod when it froze on the spot, I waited at least half an hour and it still hasn't responded to my touch so I decided that I would do a force shut down (which ive done before and had no problems with). After I shut it down I then waited a little while and then tried to turn it back on. The iPod looked like it was turning on normaly with the apple logo showing but after two minutes of starting up it just shut down again. It's been doing that every time and never actually restarts. (And yes I have tried plugging it in to charge and it did the same thing, show the apple logo and then crash again). One of the time I tried to turn it on it told me to plug it into a red iTunes logo (not sure why it was red) so I tried that and iTunes didn't recognize my iPod. Somebody please help, I would rather not have the hassle of going to the Apple Store.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod Touch 5th Gen Wifi Fine... but never at home :(

I own a 2 year old iPod 5th Gen wifi only. Since the 8.1.3 IOS update it will fail to connect with all but the newest and most up-to-date wifi routers. While traveling for my winter in Mexico I was unable to wifi connect at over 20 hotels and hotspots. Now that I am at home I see that it IS able to connect at the Apple Store's wifi, and also at Starbucks and some of my friends routers that apparently are newer than 5 years old. At my home I have a NETGEAR Wireless-N 300 router, purchased February 2010. I went to the Apple Genius people today and followed their sound advice and upgraded the firmware in my NETGEAR Wireless-N 300 router. I have tweaked and fiddled with almost everything I can imagine... but still never connects. The error this iPod gets here is the same it has given me since January when I said "yes" to the IOS update... "Incorrect Password, Cannot Connect". The ipod "see" every wifi router... just never gets past the password.
PLEASE!! Do I really have to go out and spend money on a new router just because ONE simple device, out of the 8 in our home (none Apple) will not connect?
    I did:
Update Firmware on NETGEAR Wireless-N 300 router.
Reset All Network Settings on iPod
    Reset All Data in iPod
Rebooted: Cable Modem, Wifi Router, iPod Touch
Tested with WEP as well as NONE under Netgear Security Options ... no help, so returned to WPA2-PSK [AES]
    Maybe it's MAC ADDRESS related?

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

I have no clue what you mean by "all the different methods."  Here are my suggestions.
First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

Did you go through [Unable to update or restore|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808]?
Be sure you turn off all antivirus, spyware, zone alarm, firewall etc. And connect using a different USB hub.
    Hope that helps.

  • My iPod Touch 5 Will Not Turn On... At All.

My iPod touch 5 will not turn on.
It's not that it's dead, nor that I turned it off.
I left it on, wrapped my earbuds around it, plunged it into my backpack and headed out... In the rain.
I had an otterbox case on it too.
I come home, leave it to chill out before using it for about 20 minutes because it's also very cold outside. (15-20 degrees fahrenheit)
After 20 minutes pass, I need it for something. I try to turn it on, and nothing pops up.
    No apple logo.
    No empty battery photo.
    Nothing.
I tried plugging it in in a variety of different wall plugs and computers.
    Nothing.
iTunes doesn't open, iPhoto doesn't, nothing.
I don't want to reset it completely because I would lose over 1,000 photographs and memories.
I don't even know HOW I would go about resetting it considering it's not working.
So much for a "protective" case.
It was in a backpack, an otterbox case, and I was outside for about 2 minutes in the rain. I'm not sure what to do.

Plave it is a sealed container with uncooked rice for a couple of days. Then:

Itunes does not recognize it and yes my charging cable is working fine (My brother has an iPhone and it charges with it).
