My ipod touch (5th gen) shut off and its not turning back on. what do i do?

My iPod touch was half way charged when left to school. then when I came back I thought it was turned off but when I clicked my home button a couple of times I noticed that there was something wrong. I tried to hold the power button, I tried to hold the home and power button at the same time but nothing was working. Please I need help. I am open to any options.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

my phone shut off and will not turn back on

Try resetting the device by pressing and holding the home and power buttons for 15-20 seconds until the white Apple logo appears.
If that does not work, plug it into a wall outlet for about 20 minutes then try a reset.
If it still will not turn on, take it to Apple.

Why would my iphone just shut off and now not turn back on?

Thank you, I tried it and it worked!!!

  • My iPhone was 100% charged. Mysteriously shut off and will not turn back on. Help!!!

My 1 week old iPhone 4s was charged 100%.  Worked perfectly one minute, the next it had shut itself off and will not turn back on.  I tried putting it on the charger with no change. I hit the power button on top, nothing.  I've tried everything is it just dead?

Try leaving it plugged in for at least 10 minutes. Then try to do a hard reset of the device: Hold the Power button and the home button until you see the Apple Logo... may hold for at least 10 seconds if you don't see the Apple Logo popup.
If that doesn't work force recovery mode.
Press and hold the home button and connect the phone to your computer with iTunes open.
iTunes should see the phone in recovery mode and allow you to restore it.
If it still does not work, the phone may need service at this point. Call Apple Care or setup an Genius Bar appointment at a Apple Retail Store.

  • My macbook just shut off and will not turn back on, connected to the charger. Help!

My macbook just shut iff and will not turn back on, connected to the charger. HELP!

Hi there,... what color is the charge indicator on the charger connector? orange or green.
Did you let your Air die from power?  Or has it been stored away for a while on a very low charge?
What happens when you try to power on? nothing?
If you cannot get to recovery mode and cannot power on at all, then its time for a service call to Apple for in shop full diagnosis and possible repair.

  • IPod Touch 5th gen headphone jack and battery not working properly

Yesterday my iPod touch 5th gen's battery started draning at an incredible rate. Won't last longer then 1 or 2 hours now. And add onto it the headphone jack stopped working properly. It's now only plays in one ear, it's all static over the sound it's supposed to play. I baby my iPod. This all happened out of the blue. What do I do to fix it?

Saraa22 , the same recommendation was given over a year earlier:
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Check also Settings > General > Accessibility > Hearing. Make sure that the sound balance is not set all the way to "R".
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

If anyone has this same problem with their Ipod touch 5g headphone jack. I found a way to fix it. I did everything of the above but nothing actually worked . But this is what worked!
First reset your Ipod by pressing down the on/off button and the home button at the same time for 10 seconds until you see the apple icon
Then after it turns back on : Go to settings then press on general. Then press on accessibility  and scroll down and make sure MONO AUDIO is on!
This will definitely fix the problem.

  • My iPod touch 5th gen went black and is not being recognized by my computer?

My iPod touch 5th gen was working perfectly fine about an hour ago i was taking pictures talking to my friends. I had it in my pocket for about 30 mins without using it and when I went to grab and check on it went completely back and I thought it was dead but I remembered it was charged more than half way.  When I got home  I plugged it in my computer and it doesn't appear on my computer what do I do?

Dang, if you had a Windows, I'd definitely be able to help you. Maybe try restarting your computer, & re-installing the Apple Mobile Device Support & iTunes under your "programs" on your computer settings. Idk if this helps because I have Windows not Mac :/ Best of luck.

  • IPhone 4 shutting off, and will not turn back on

my iphone 4 has just recently turned off, and won't turn back on even with a hard reset. I have tried plugging it into itunes and also the top button and home button... any other ideas?

I didn't drop it, I have taken extremely good care of my phone. One day the button started "sticking" when I locked it.... and then it just didn't "click" or pop back up anymore. The button wasn't even a problem because I started using the Assistive Touch function and could easily lock my phone on screen. However, today my phone just turned off out of no where, and I have had it plugged up into different chargers and different outlets and still none of them have made my phone turn on....
Also, do you know if I went to either the apple store or Verizon, would I be able to get my contacts/files, since I had not backed up my phone in awhile before this ordeal happened...
    Thank you for you help!

  • My IPhone shut off and will not turn back on!!!!

    SO here's what happened,
I was texting a friend and listening to music on my iphone... Then all of a sudden I get this pop up notification that says "This adaptor is not supported"
I didnt have my phone plugged in and then all of a sudden it turned off and will not start back up.
    I tried the following:
Charge my phone for an hour
Pressed the sleep/power+home button for 20 seconds
Pressed the home button and plugged it in my computer while doing so
Now with that said, I need to know the following:
Is there hope for my Phone?
And if I have to replace it, can I go to my cell phone provider-ATT and have them replace it ( I have insurance on it) because the closest Apple store to me is 3 hours away.
    All the advice the better!

    SIDE NOTE!!!!!!!!!
This phone does NOT have water damage and was working just fine until i had this problem

  • My phone just shut off and will not turn back on but I do not want to loose all my stuff...please help!!

Please help - my phone shut down a few hours ago and will not turn back on....I am scared to reset (home and power button) because I do not want to loose any of my info, pictures, contacts, etc

first thing to do is plug it in and let it sit for a little while.  if the battery was drained and you plug it in it will need to charge up a little bit before it will turn on.

  • Iphone 6 randomly shut off and will not turn back on - help!

I bought my IPhone 6 last fall from T-Mobile.  My iPhone 6 was working just fine about an hour ago.  Went to hit the home button to check the time and it would not turn on.  It appears to have randomly shut off and now it will not turn back on.  Tried holding the power button - nothing... same with the home button.  Assuming I need to take it in for service, but I'm not sure if there is some easy fix for this.

  • Fully charged iPhone 4 shut off and will not turn back on?

I am submitting this question for my boyfriend's iphone 4. He charged his phone lastnight, and it was fully charged and then it randomoly shut off without any warning. He says it will not turn back on.

Have you tried to reset the iPhone by pressing and holding the sleep/wake button and the home button for 10-15 seconds until the Apple logo appears, ignore the red slider.  Then turn back on. You won't lose any data doing the reset.

  • My iphone 4 shut off and will not turn back on

My iphone randomly shut off will not turn back on. it isn't dead, but I even plugged it in for over an hour still nothing. I already tried the home   lock button and that doesn't work either

    Hi there,
You may want to take a look at some of the troubleshooting steps found in the article below.

Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 15 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
