My iPod Touch 5th Generation home button is broken?

My ipod's home button just suddenly stopped working one day. I haven't dropped it or got any liquid on it, and so I HAVE NO IDEA why it just suddenly stopped working and honestly it makes me kind of mad. My one-year warranty on it was over a couple of months ago. I am wondering if there is any way to fix it for free or anything? or like how much does it cost?

  • IPod Touch 5th Generation home button is stuck, support options?

Hi, I do IT, and when talking to someone in my science class and somehow he brought up the fact that his iPod touch 5th generations home button had become stuck overnight, without cause, it is in a otter box, and has never been dropped, come in contact with water, etc... . I had the exact same problem and luckily when I contacted apple it was the last day of my year long coverage. I checked his serial number and his support has expired, so what are my options? From my research it seems like this issue is not uncommon, and I have read that Apple will replace the defunct unit regardless of the warranty if you bring it to a genius bar, is this true? If it is not, then what would be the price for Apple to repair it, as it is in perfect condition with no scratches, and I would not want to void any future warranty options by replacing the button/screen myself?

Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store and find out if Apple will be nice and exchange it for a refurbished iPOd at no cost. Apple dies not repair yur iPOd, they exchange it for a refurbished one. If Apple will not exchange it at no cost, the exchange price is $99 for 16 GB 5G and $149 for the other 5Gs

  • TS1441 How can I restore an iPod touch if the home button is broken and I don't know the password?

I just bought my iPod Touch (4th Generation 8GB) from my friend and the home button doesn't work. Then, my parents took it away for about 6 months and I just got it back and I forgot my password. Then, I tried to get in too many times and now it says "iPod Disabled Connect to iTunes". Then, when I connect it to iTunes, it says for my to put in my password so it can connect. I've been trying to get back in but haven't found a way to restore it. HELP!!!!!
P.S. It's jailbroken, but the damage isn't due to Cydia. Also, I can't put it into DFU mode since the home button is broken.

Actually, I can give it to someone who fixes jailbroken iPod touch home buttons, but I don't want to pay anything. Also, if you just have something to say to me that will kill me, don't say it at all dude.

  • IPod Touch 4th Generation Home button semi-stuck, iPod Touch 4th Generation Home button semi-stuck

    Hi,
this is my first post here.
My iPod touch 4th gen has been experiencing some problems with the home button lately. The home button is semi stuck. It works but I have to press it really lightly at times and really hard at other times. I don't know what happened. I let my little brother play with it for a day, and when he returned it to me it was like this. I tried recalibrating it but it was no good. I would try the alcohol method, but there's no alcohol allowed in my house. I tried asking my parents to get me a swab for this purpose and they refused lol. Should I try using a wet q-tip around the home button? Or should I try using my vacuum cleaner's pipe suction things on the usb port thing while holding down the home button? Any and all help is appreciated

  • What do I do if my iPod Touch 5th Gen home button is stuck? I don't really want to have to pay to get it fixed unless I have to. Any suggestions?

I dropped my iPod the other day and quickly picked it up. It looked fine, but when I tried to use the home button, I found that I had to press much harder to use it. I tried to use it recently and it just decided to not work for me. I can't use the home button but I can still turn it on and off and use the touch screen; I just cant navigate between apps now. Anyone have suggestions for how I can fix this without having to pay to do so?

  • IPod Touch 3rd Generation Home Button stuck

Okay, I'm sure this question has been asked four hundred thousand times before, I have a 3rd gen ipod touch 32 gb model and I use it on a daily basis. I've dropped the thing so many times and the only damage is a few scratches (surprised the screen hasn't broke to be honest, but it hasn't!). So anyways, the home button doesn't work anymore. Normally when you press the button you would hear a nice satisfactory click. Well, recently it wouldn't work quite right but you could still persuade the home button to work. Now though, you can't press it at all. You can get the button to respond if you apply enough force to it,but that warps the screen itself and no one's got time for that. Taking it to a repair shop isn't really an option ($249 to repair it? might as well buy a new one!). So if there is any potential fix, please let me know. Note that I have heard of these tricks already:
    - putting a drop of rubbing alcohol on the home button and letting it into the button by pressing the home button with a pencil eraser. I won't do this because I don't see putting any liquid on an electronic.
    - blowing into the charging port will somehow make the button pop back up. what a load that is.
    - placing the ipod facedown in a bowl of rice. Seems just as stupid a trick as pouring rubbing alcohol on it.
    - and rapidly pressing the power button and the home button until the screen flashes white (which I thought meant you took a screen cap by pressing those buttons simultaneously) either way, this solution didn't work.
If anyone has a good method to try and can back it up with proof that said method works (not just 'trust me, it works') that'd be greatly appreciated. I really don't want to have to buy a new iOS device as I haven't been impressed with the last few years of updates.

  • My ipod touch 5th generation will not turn on and the home button doesn't work. what do i do?

Hello my name is Leslie and i would like to ask you guys a question on how to fix my ipod or what is wrong with it. My ipod touch 5th generation will not turn on and the home button doesn't work. what can i do to fix it ?

Has the home button worked in the past, or is this been something that hasn't worked for some time? The only way to reset the device is with the sleep/wake (power) and home buttons together. Without it, you would have to wait until the battery dies and then plug it in to try and reset it. The Home button is used for several user troubleshooting steps. Without it, you cannot perform a reset, put the device into recovery mode, or place it in DFU mode. You need to get the home button repaired.

If you can't get it to shut down or restart when holding down the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons and you can't get it recognized in iTunes to restore it, the iPod may have suffered a hardware failure and will need to go to Apple for service. Someone else here may have additional suggestions, though.
There is no "fifth generation" iPod touch, by the way, just for the sake of clarity; not yet, anyway.
    Regards.

  • IPod Touch 5th Generation won't turn on and the home button is broken, followed the steps from another thread but it's still not working

I have an iPod Touch 5th Generation with iOS 8.1, my home button is broken and I've been using AssistiveTouch for months now. Today I just locked my iPod and it wouldn't unlock again, it doesn't respond at all, it won't turn on. It was almost fully charged, so it's not the battery. I followed the steps from this thread, but I'm still getting the "USBMuxListenerCreate: No Error" message in CMD Prompt. I bought my iPod abroad and even though I do have the warranty, I've been told at the iStore that it's not valid here, so going to the store isn't really an option. Any ideas how to solve this?

Sorry, but without a working home button it is not possible to reset or restore your device. You should visit an Authorized Appel Service Provider or Apple Store to get it serviced. The warranty for an iPod is not limited to the country where it has been bought, check here: one-year limited warranty
Jailbraking the device will void the warranty.
You can check the warranty status by inserting the serial number on this page: https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
