My iPod touch battery is dying when fully turned off.

I have had an iPod touch 5th generation for about 2 months and it's worked perfect until a couple days ago. The battery started dying even though I fully turned off my iPod. I fully turn off my iPod touch yet with a fully charged battery over night my iPod will be almost be dead when I turn it back on in the morning. Also when in sleep mode and no wifi being used my battery will still die within a 8 hour period of time but in these same circumstances a week ago my battery would only decrease about 10% max. What's wrong with my iPod? Can it be fixed? If not, how do I get a new new one replaced?

    Try:

    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My new ipod nano does not  work when you turn off the computer

I bought a new iPod but I have a problem when you turn off the computer does not work. Shows that the battery is full and it was lightning. Ipod only works while connected to your computer. What should I do

    Hello pepi95,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
If you just bought the nano, why not bring it back for a replacement or your money back? It's definitely a defective iPod. Not much else for options here. Sorry.

  • How long does it take for an iPod touch battery to die without even using it?

Asking because my itouch 4g has been stuck on a black screen and not able to turn off when pressing the power button. It's been 24 hours since it happened to the ipod. I've left it unattended on my table during that time period to which i have checked a couple of times to just see where and if the battery went down at all. At first the battery didn't seem like it went down at all since last night but recently it looked like it went down a bit from nearly being all the way charged to half/almost under half battery now. I was just wondering approximately how long it usually takes for it to die all the way down? I figured 24 hours but it doesn't seem like that since it didn't at in the time period since yesterday evening and night.

My iPod is back to working now. It took about 2 and a half days for the brain to drain and die. Thanks for the answer and help.

  • My iPod touch battery is dying really fast?

These past couple days my iPod battery has been dying fast! I don't have much on my ipod.. I have 299 songs, 3 internet apps (Youtube, FB, & iFunny), 5 Games (Temple Run, Solitaire, Jewelz, Angry Birds and fruit Ninja) Plus the required apps that I have to have on there. Oh, I also have 40 photos.. roughly.
But anyway, even when I leave the iPod alone the battery runs down! Like, this morning I woke some up with my iPod dead when I went to bed the battery was half full. I restored it, I deleted some songs on my ipod, i deleted some apps, and I decreased my brightness. Why is my iPod dying fast?
I got the ipod in October and never had battery problems before with any iPods that I have owned.

When not using the iPod, turn airplane mode on. WHen sleeping the iPod can do things and if it tries and connects to wifi it can discharge overnight.

  • My ipod touch is disabled and won't turn off, itunes doesn't recognize the device and i can't see the serial number on the back

My NOSY (now ex) husband did something to my ipod touch and it is now disabled. It was dead and I charged it and NOW the sucker won't turn off. When I connect to itunes i see a message that says i have to UNLOCK it with a passcode. I tried to get apple support but they want my serial number. Well...the ipod wont turn on!!! I've had it at least 6 years and have moved and I can't find my paperwork and WHO can read that serial number on the back? I know its kind of outdated (third generation, I believe)but its mine, I love it and it has ALL my music on it.

    Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

  • IPod Touch shake to shuflle not completely turned off

    *The Problem:*
On my 8GB iPod Touch, there seems to be shuffle bug, which occurs with both OS 3.1.3 and iOS 4.0.
Shake to shuffle seems to often shuffle, even when Shake-to-Shuffle is turned off in "Settings".
*The way the manual says it should work:*
When I let a playlist (or album) play to completion, and keep the Touch completely still, then after it goes to sleep (in 1 minute), I can hit the Home button once to wake up the music player (but not unlock the Touch), then double-click Home to get the music player controls on-screen, and finally hit the Play icon to restart the same playlist (or album) which had last played.
    *The way it actually works:*
However, even with Shake-to-Shuffle turned Off in Settings, if the iPod is shaken for a few seconds after it goes to sleep, then most of the time (but not always) when I hit the Home button once to wake up the music player (without unlocking), then double-click Home to get the music player controls, and finally hit the Play icon, then some random album will generally (but not always) be played.
If I then put the Touch to sleep, hold it perfectly still, hit the Home button once to wake it up, then double-click Home to get the music player controls, and then hit the Play icon, the original playlist will begin as expected.
    *Apparent problem:*
It seems that when the Touch is asleep, it erroneously picks up motion, and then thinks it should shuffle (even though Shake-to-Shuffle is turned Off) when the Home button is used to restore the music player controls, (while the Touch is otherwise still asleep and is not being unlocked).
I've tested two different 8GB Touch units, and they both exhibit the same problem, wherein the last played playlist (or album) is not being played after shaking the Touch while it is asleep.
    *Any Suggestions or Solutions?*
Has anybody else seen this problem? Or know a solution?
    Thanks...

    1. Check settings > Music > Shake to shuffle ON
    2. If IPOD is locked, double click home button. When the controls appear, shake rapidly.
    3. If not locked, you should be in the music app.

  • Ipod touch 5th wifi greyed out and turned off. Will not turn on.

I combed through FAQs and communities and see that I am one of the lucky people with 2 iPod touch 5th Gens with greyed out Wifi that will absolutely not turn on.  I have tried all the suggestions out there, resetting heating, cooling, etc.  I have updated to ios 8. Has anyone come up with a solution to this problem?  Of course these are no longer covered with Apple Care.  You would think Apple would have a replacement program for this problem since there are plenty of people having this issue.

    See:
iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
One user reported that placing the iPod in the freezer fixed the problem.
    Also heating sometimes works. See:
Why can't I select my wifi settings?
A trick that works frequently with iPhones:
Settings > AirPlane Mode ON, Do Not Disturb ON
Power down and wait 5-10 minutes
    Power up
Settings > AirPlane Mode OFF, Do Not Disturb OFF
If not successful, an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is usually in order.
