My ipod touch battery keeps losing power even when switched off

Why? What can I do? Change the battery?

I believe I have the information you're looking for, in return, please repond to the thread saying if it's useful or not.
The iPod Touch can lose battery under several conditions:
1. If the Touch is left in the USB cradle, disconnected, the wires can leech current, reducing charge.
2. Heat can significantly reduce a battery's charge, so keep your unit away from the sunlight or other heat.
3. Leaving your Touch with the wifi on will tax the battery, even if you're listening to tunes. Make sure the unit is completely disconnected and turned off.
In short, make sure your Touch has wifi completely turned off, keep its cool, and disconnect the Touch from the USB cable or cradle.

  • Why does my ipod touch 4th generation lose power even when it's turned off?

When my ipod touch is turned off for a couple of days, it loses most of it's charge.  Is this normal?

Are you turning the iPod Off via depressing the Power button until the Slide to Power Off appear and sliding it? If not the iPod is sleeping and the iPod is still doing stuff when sleeping and it is normal for the battery to fully discharge is  a few days, especially if wifi is on.
If you are really powering the iPod off that is not normal and indicates a hardware problem.

  • IPod Touch 64GB keeps losing artwork/artwork in iTunes not showing up on corresponding albums

after installing an update on my iPod Touch I noticed almost all the album artwork was erased. I'll just list the progression of events in order they've occured:
Install OS update on iPod Touch, almost all artwork is erased.
Re-add several of the albums that were missing artwork, artwork shows up fine.
Install second OS update that comes out.
Artwork is once again missing. Some albums I 'fixed' remained unchanged but all the files that did get the artwork erased were songs that had had it erased the first time.
Re-add a few albums that were effected, but some in the middle of it, iTunes crashes and things are messed up again.
I've tried all the basic fixes that people suggest for this kind of thing. Nothing seems to work. And it seems that whenever a particular album's artwork is lost on the iPod, it's lost in iTunes as well and neeeds to be downloaded again.
It's getting very tiring and I need to find a way to fix this so I'm not constantly worrying about re-adding songs and artwork and all that.

I had the same problem with artwork dissapearing, after I upgraded to ios5.
Never found a solution other then re-uploading the songs & artwork. Very time-consuming.
Sorry to hear that it's still happening - I'm really not looking forward to going through that again.

  • My iPod Touch won't turn on even when I connect it to the computer.

About a month ago, I lost my ipod 4th gen, and I got it back yesterday morning. Before I lost it, it was at less than 20% battery life, so I knew it was going to be dead. When I got home to charge it, my computer wouldn't recognize the device. I tried doing the home/lock button thing to no avail. I held the lock button for five minutes without any response. The stupid thing has been plugged into the computer for the last day or so, and nothing is happening to it. I really miss my ipod... Can anybody help?

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable

  • My new iPhone 4S loses battery life even when switched off?

Purchased a new iPhone just last week.
I drained the battery completely and then full cycle charged it. Disabled Siri, location, apps, notifications etc.
So far I have been very conservative with my iPhone making phone calls and texts only.
Just started to notice these past 3 days that i lose 2-3% of battery life even when my iPhone is switched off..
    How is this even possible?
Any help or advice on how i can solve this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • How long does it take for an iPod touch battery to die without even using it?

Asking because my itouch 4g has been stuck on a black screen and not able to turn off when pressing the power button. It's been 24 hours since it happened to the ipod. I've left it unattended on my table during that time period to which i have checked a couple of times to just see where and if the battery went down at all. At first the battery didn't seem like it went down at all since last night but recently it looked like it went down a bit from nearly being all the way charged to half/almost under half battery now. I was just wondering approximately how long it usually takes for it to die all the way down? I figured 24 hours but it doesn't seem like that since it didn't at in the time period since yesterday evening and night.

My iPod is back to working now. It took about 2 and a half days for the brain to drain and die. Thanks for the answer and help.

  • Ipod touch NOT SYNCING ANY MUSIC, even when plugged in and "syncing"

I press sync, and it skips syncing music. I try backup restores, and it worked the first time, yet now I restore to multiple previous versions and it deletes certain songs that weren't on before, and it has lagged once it reaches a certain song, and then stoppes showing me the "error 50". I have no idea what to do. I suspect it might have something to do with my computer which has a virus, and malfunctional charger, and has been slow lately, not allowing certain programs to run like my mp3 downloader software. God forbid if it's my computer. Help.

    I would try:
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
You may have to reinstall Windows since sometimes a a virus can't really be removed and a fresh install is required

  • HT4623 iPhone 4 s giving problems since installing OS 6, crashing and battery levels all over the place, even when switched off at night dropping from 88% to 2% overnight and some functions such as iCloud dont work consistently. Can I revert to OS 5?

Sorry once you have upgraded you can't downgrade IOS.  This is not supported by Apple.
    Suggest you restore your iphone.

  • Zen Micro lose Power when Switched OFF??

    Hello,
I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same problem as me. I fully charged my Zen Micro last night and then left it and just switch it on for the first time now (8 hours later), and the battery indicator shows 2 bars left?
Seems like the Zen Micro loses power even when switched off!?!
Can anyone confirm that this is the case and whether I can do anything to stop it from happening? Is this normal with Hard Dri've MP3 player or only with the Zen Micro?
    Thanks.

<EDIT: (April st, 2005):<<FONT color=#330000>JazzMC has taken the initiati've and written a sort of FAQ and put together a website with all the information to date gathered in one place regarding this power drain of the Zen Micro while off (in standby). It's a great read for those who want more information about the subject and probably easier than wading through this thread.<FONT color=#330000>You can view the document by clicking here: <Zen Micro Power Loss<. <FONT color=#330000>Thanks JazzMC!
Ditto here. I did do a disk cleanup last week and the micro seems to be holding it's charge longer now. It's still draining the battery while sitting idle though according to the bar indicator, but slower (go figure?). This is my only real issue with the Zen Micro as I love it otherwise!
One wierd thing I noticed was I charged it full then left it sit for about 3 days (checking it off and on) then on day 3 it was at one bar. So I plugged it into my home sterio and turned it on to see how long it would play for. I was really surprised to see it last a few minutes shy of 9 hours...
Could this be a battery calibration thing instead of it just loosing charge? Like the meter misreads the batteries actual charge over time instead of it loosing power?
Donno it's wacky, please fix Creative!
