My iPod touch froze while updating to iOS 6 over wifi, what do i do?

I started updating my ipod to iOS 6 over wifi, and it just froze part of the way in to the update, and I am unable to connect to my iTunes account right now.

Looks like you need to put your device into DFU mode:
To put the device in DFU mode, connect the device to iTunes and hold both the power button and the home button down, after 10 seconds, release the power button but leave the home button pressed until it goes into DFU mode. iTunes should then recognize that the device has entered DFU mode and ask to restore.
I hope that helps.

I can't use the camera function in my ipod touch 4s while updated to iOS 6.0.
There is all black screen when I turn on my camera.
I open the restriction setting already.
    thank you.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

my IPod touch froze and its not responding at all what can i do to fix it?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod Touch won't update from iOS 3.1.3 to iOS 4

My second generation IPod touch won't upgrade from iOS 3.1.3 to iOS4. Everytime I plug it into the computer it tells me there's an update. I'll click theupdate and it will start backing up my files but it never gets beyond this point. What is the best way to fix this?

  • Ipod touch will not update from IOS version 6.1.3 to IOS version 7

Are the previous ipod touch devices not compatible? An ipad the same age updated just fine.

Only the iPod 5th generation can update to iOS 7. If you have an earlier model then you cannot update to iOS 7.

  • IPad Mini froze while updating to iOs 8.1

My wife's 32 gig iPad Mini was still on iOS 6 (6.1.6) It had automatically downloaded 8.1 and we tried to install it. The progress bar showed it was about 2 - 3 mm from the end when it froze. I tried attaching it to her computer while holding down the home button to put it into recovery mode and received an error message that  its locked with a passcode that has to be unlocked on the iPad before it will recognise it. Obviously this can't happen as its frozen.
Is there any way of getting around this?  (There is about 20 gig of spare space on the device.)

I'll give you something else for the near future ... it's doing a clean system install and it's a good way to get rid of any possible corrupted files in your system. This can also be for troubleshooting a particularly difficult problem.
Follow this procedure for a Troubleshooting Methodology ... basically reset to factory default condition -BUT- be sure to do the following methodically and also to follow the part with Apple Support!
First you want to make sure you have several backups of your data and done with a couple of "different" sources. Be sure to understand what data is backed up and what is NOT on iCloud Backup and iTunes Backup. Use a variety of methods for backup ... you might check into Dropbox, in addition to your Apple options.
Then turn off your desktop anti-virus software when using iTunes for this reset to factory default. After you do that reset, then leave your iPad in its factory default state and see how it operates then. If you encounter any problems in that factory default state, then take it to Apple Support, and let them know that you have just reset it to that state with iTunes and have not put any of your data back on and it is operating in this fashion (whatever the problem is) in that pristine state. Make sure you keep that trouble ticket number, because if it has to be escalated through Apple Support, you're going to find all communications tied in with that number. If the lower level help isn't able to help you, then escalate it to a higher level to examine the problem. Keep at it with that trouble ticket number until Apple Support arrives at a solution to that problem. Be methodical and keep at it.
On the other hand, if everything is okay with the factory default condition, then restore your backup. Some people have discovered that the problem resides in the apps or something in the restored backup. If that's the case, then it's going to be trying and difficult to find out which developer's app is causing you the problem. And ... it's true ... that a developer not following Apple's instructions and guidelines for his app can CAUSE YOU TROUBLE. This kind of thing does happen from developers, especially when a new system upgrade comes out, because some developers ignore what Apple tells them about changes coming, and what they do BREAKS SOMETHING.
This is a troubleshooting methodology that you are going through. See it through to the end.

  • First Generation iPod Touch stuck on updating to iOS 3.1.3

I just recenetly finally updated to iOS 3.13 for 4.95 with my first generation iPod Touch. Problem is, that it's stuck on this one screen for what seems to be a few hours. I'm new to this whole iOS thing but can someone explain to me what it is.
Here is a picture of the screen http://i.imgur.com/haeOY.jpg Also when it's connected to the computer it says it's 3.13 for the os.

Based on the responses from Niel and Diavonex, I deleted my response as it did not seem relevant. Did you follow the link that Niel provided?
I will ask my original question, just to make sure - are you certain that you have an iPod 4g and not an iPod 2g. The 2g cannot be updated past 4.2.1, so wanted to make sure about that. But if you are certain, then the best thing you can do is follow the link provided by Niel.
    Cheers,

  • How do I get my iPod touch 3G to update to IOS 5.

I  currently have IOS 4.2.1 on my iPod touch 3G.  I am running version 10 of iTunes. When I connect the iPod and  check for updates, I am told my software is the latest version.  Will IOS 5 run on iPod touch 3G and if so, how do I get this update?
    Thanks
    Jim McColl

I think you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to 4.2.1. If yours is a 8 or 16 GB it is a 2G. Apple only made 32 and 64 GB 3G iPods. A 32 GB can be either. To identify yours:

  • HT4972 My iPod Touch won't update to iOS 5.

I just recently found my old iPod  Touch and it's still on iOS 4.2.1. I want to update to a higher iOS but I can't update it. How can I attempt to do an update with this? Badly need your help.

If it a second gen ipod, as I would guess that it is, then you can only go to 4.2.1

  • My iPod Touch won't update to iOS 5.0.1? It's on one of the iOS 4 updates?

Every time I go on iTunes, I get this window thing that says "New update available for iPod Touch....iOS 5.0.1" but every time I do it, it downloads it and then says "The network connection timed out. Make sure your network settings are correct or try again." There's something wrong, right? I never updated it to iOS 5 so shouldn't it be from my current iOS to iOS 5, not 5.0.1?

iTunes only allows you to update to the latest iOS which is 5.0.1.
Disabling the computer's security software (firewall and antivirus) during the download and update usually resolves the problem.
