My ipod touch headphone jack do not work when I plug in any headphones to it.  How do I get to listen on headphones with my IPod touch?

You likely have a problem with the headphone jack.  You jhave to ways to listen to music via headphones:
    - Get the jack fixed.  Here is one place:
DigiExpress.us - The iPad Repair Professionals
However first I wold rule out a software problem by try the following:
    Reset the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore the iPod from backup
    - Restore the iPod to factory defaults.
The other way is to use bluetooth headhone if you have a 2G or later iPod.

  • IPod Touch Headphone Jack Isn't Working?

I own the original iPod Touch, I have had it for about 9 months, and out of nowhere the other day, I plugged my headphones in to listen, and I could only hear some of the instruments, and no vocals. At first I thought it was my headphones, but then I tried several other pairs, and none of them worked either. However, when I plugged it into an iPod Docking Station through the connector (not the headphone jack) it worked fine, so I know it's a problem with my iPod's headphone jack.
Any suggestions on how I could fix this?

If you bought it new only 9 months ago, which I think would be a little difficult, you can send it in to Apple or take it to an Apple Store (make a Genius Bar appointment first) and get it serviced under warranty. If it is out of warranty you can try a 3rd party repair site such as http://www.iresq.com or use Google to find other such sites. If you are the DIY type try http://www.ifixit.com and look at the pictures/videos on how to disassemble the iPod and replace the headphone jack.

  • Headphone Jack No Longer Works

Does anyone know of headphones that may plug into the bottom outlet of the iPod, where it connects usually to stereo equipment. My iPod still works with this connection, to charge it, to listen on my computer, on my stereo but the headphone jack no longer works so I can't use it in my car or at other times.

Ok I just talked to headroom and with this adapter you can go directly to a set of headphones or to one of their amps. Additionally the pin connector provides improved sound quality over the cheap headphone jack that comes stock on the ipod.

It's not clear whether your printer is included in the Apple list - there is an Officejet 6100 and a couple of other types. Go to the page linked to above and use the browser search for 6100.
I'm afraid HP are notorious for not supporting older printers - I had the same problem. Probably they hope you will buy another printer (I did, but it was a Canon). I did look on HP's site and couldn't see a driver - you could give it a try (make sure you have the exactly correct printer name):
    http://www8.hp.com/uk/en/support-search.html?tab=1#/qryterm=HP6100&search_search type=s-002
Alternatively ou could try Gutenprint (open source software):
    http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php
I found it would indeed drive the printer, but the colour dithering wasn't very satisfactory and the duplex printing bolt-on wouldn't work. However as Gutenprint is free it's worth trying to see if it's any good for you.

  • Headphone Jack No Longer Working

About 2 weeks ago, my iPhone's headphone jack completely stopped working. I started to notice it a month ago (after installing the latest iOS builds, but I dont necessarily have any reason to believe that it's a software issue) when it wouldn't play music in the headphones when I'd plug them in but after trying a few more times it would finally work again. Obviously now it doesn't work at all.
I've read the few threads around the Internet on this issue and most people just had lint in the jack that had to be cleaned out. Mine did not but I tried cleaning it anyway with a q-tip and also light oiled it with electronic lube (with a q-tip, being mindful of the sensor at the base of the jack).
Has anyone else been able to fix this type of problem?

SOLUTION: Headphones no longer work on iPad
I had the same problem: suddenly my headphones didn't workon my iPad. All the headphones (3 pairs) worked on my iPhone, so I knew the problem wasn’t with the headphones. The sound worked fine from the iPad speakers, so when I unplugged the headphones, the sound returned. I called AppleCare Support and tried everything they suggested, including restoring it to the factory settings. Nothing worked, and they authorized a replacement iPad.
The new iPad arrived, but it had the same problem, so I knew something had changed in the iPad's programming. I went online and found that many others were having the same problem, but no one offered a solution. However, someone mentioned that the problem first occurred after installing the latestOS (4.3.3), which is when my iPad’s problem occurred. Next, someone else wanted to know if there was a mute switch that needed to be turned off. This started me thinking...
To make a long story as short as possible, I played around with the controls on my old iPad and discovered the following: Apparently, the latest OS has added a safety feature to protect our eardrums (that’s nice, but it would be even nicer to have been notified of this change .. even the support technicians were unaware of it). Previously, when you listened to the audio through the iPad’s speakers, the sound was so low that you had to turn the volume up as high as possible to hear it. Then when you plugged in the headphones, the sound blasted your eardrums as you frantically lowered thevolume.
    (PROBLEM:)
Now, however, WHEN YOU PLUG IN THE HEADPHONES, THE IPAD AUTOMATICALLY MUTES THE SOUND. When you unplug the headphones, the sound is automatically restored through the speakers, giving you the false impression that there is something wrong with the headphones or the headphone jack.
    (SOLUTION:)
So after plugging in the headphones, you have to use the volume button to bring the sound back up to the desired level. When you press the volume button, it will say “headphones” on the display to let you know that you are adjusting the sound for the headphones only. The speaker volume retains its previous setting (maximum volume).
So, the solution is quite simple… just turn up the volume after you attach the headphones.
    Cheers!
    Becky Bear

    Hi Mr.Acevedo329!
I have an article here for you that can help you troubleshoot the issues you are experiencing. That article can be found right here:
iPod troubleshooting basics and service FAQ
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1382
Specifically, you will want to take note of this section:
    The headphones don't work
If your iPod's headphones don't work or have static or garbled audio, try connecting them to any other 3.5 mm stereo headphone jack, like the one on your computer. If the issue with the headphones persists, replace them. For an iPod under warranty, you can order a replacement online. Otherwise, check out the cool headphones at the Apple Online Store. If the issue appears to be with the iPod, try resetting it. If that doesn't work, then restore iPod with the latest iPod software using iTunes 7 or later.
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Have a good one!

  • Buttons (silent, volume, on/off) and headphone jack no longer working!

All of a sudden my iPhone stopped working - that is, none of the buttons work except the round one below the screen. None around the sides work any more and the headphones jack doesn't work either. I have the latest os/firmware (3.1). This happened totally out of the blue. I know of nothing special that could have caused it. Just happened one day when I tried to use headphones and noticed the volume kept sounding through my speakers rather than the phones. And then I noticed the silent didn't work, the volume up/down button on the side didn't work, etc.
I can not turn my phone off so I tried to let the battery die out and then recharge it which resets it. But that didn't help either. Buttons still aren't working.
This means I can't turn on silent, adjust volume, listen using my headphones or use hands-free.
    Any ideas why?
I purchased my phone back in Aug '08 so it's just out of warrenty, of course!

Problem is since I bought mine online, I have to send it in to the online store to have it checked. And they couldn't even promise they could, or would do anything.
I live in Norway and there is no Apple store. They have "certified dealers" but they won't look at my phone since I didn't buy from them.
Bottom line is I will be without my phone for at LEAST a week for them to look at it, and then there is a good change they won't fix it for free or even at all.
That's why I was hoping for some advice from somebody that may know about this...

  • IPOD touch. - Headphone jack no longer working.

I'm new to this site, and it's sincerely making me angry.
I got an ipod touch NG december 2008. It ran fine, but it seems as soon as my warranty ran out, the headphone jack decided to mess up. Now, I only get audio out of my right headphone, and not the left. It is not to do with the headphones, as I've tried multiple pairs. So, now I read that I have to pay 99 dollars for a repair fee? Is this how it is? Or are there any loopholes around that ridiculous fee considering I paid three hundred dollars for something I expected to actually work.
Has anyone else had this problem? How'd you fix it?
I'm sincerely annoyed with apple, and very much considering changing MP3 forms. Because, my family have all owned a certain IPOD product, and they've all had problems.
    Someone, please reply.

the same thing happened to me but i didnt know it would cost about 100 bucks to repair. ive tried it with 3 diffrent pairs of headphones

  • IPod Touch 4 headphone jack no longer working??

So recently, my ipod touch 4's headphone jack stopped working. As in, I would plug in the headphones, and I would just hear the bass guitar in all the songs and the vocals, drums, beats etc. would be almost muted. And then, I would re-plug in the headphones not all the way through but it would be loosely connected to the ipod. Any slight touch to the headphone would turn the music off. But, it would play the music fine. What am I supposed to do?
These are the same headphones I've been using for the last 5 months and this has never been a problem. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

If the problem is not due to the headphones:
    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Check also Settings > General > Accessibility > Hearing. Make sure that the sound balance is not set all the way to "R".
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

  • Will apple replace my ipod touch since the headphone jack no longer works properly?

It is still under warranty and there was no damage to it from anyone. The headphone jack is faulty and it is a hardware problem not user damage

If they determine it to defective, then they will replace it.

  • How to properly disconnect Headphones from Ipod Touch  Headphone Jack

I just wanted to know if there's a way to properly disconnect the headphone plug from the Jack on the Touch,
I heard that the metal contacts in the jack can be flatten out (How would that happen?), I dont want something like that to happen, especially sine i recently got the new iTouch.
If you have any idea on this, let me know
    Thanks in advance
Sorry If i seem paranoid, My last Ipod touch jack stopped working and i dont want the same thing to happen again. These Ipods aren't cheap you know...

From my knowledge, jack problems are mostly caused by snagging the cable and stressing the jack in the iPod. To disconnect just pull straight out.

  • IPod touch headphone jack

I'm sure this has been asked many times before but I can't find a good answer.
My friend gave me his old iPod touch 8gb 2nd gen and i juts noticed that the left headphone will not work no matter what headphones i insert.
they will only work if i apply pressure downwards onto the headphones where they are inserted or wiggle them around but it will often times loose noise in the left headphone.
My warranty is up and idk when it expired.
Is this considered a mistake/hardware error by apple and will they replace it for free?
Also ,is there anything else I should know? Thanks

My friend that works at Apple says the headphone jack breaks easily. Since you're out of warranty I would suggest a local repair in specialty with iPod/Mac repairs. Apple costs way too much if you're out of warranty. If that's not possible, I know Ebay has iPod reliable repairing services available but that would mean you have to wait a week or two. Please do not repair it yourself if you do not know what you're doing.
Also I know extending your warranty can get expensive, but for iPods it's relatively pretty cheap on ebay. They have legit warranty extensions (make sure they ship you the actual box and not just give you the code). I know Apple charges around 70 USD and ebay was like $20ish.
For future reference try not to put much pressure on near the headphone jack as you store it in your bag, or your pocket etc. Unplug your earbuds/headphones from the headphone jack to prevent this from happening again.
    I hope I helped.
