My ipod touch ios 5 has no upgrade option please help me upgrade to a higher version

i have followed all directions, go to settings, then general, then software update but all it says is ios5.1.1 your software is up to date. I need to install a higher version I cant even play good games

It depends on which generation iPod touch you have whether you can update.
The versions on the right are as far as the iOS software can be updated to for each generation.

iPod Touch 4                               iOS 6.1.x

My iPod Touch has been misplaced by me. It has a passcode. I have it set to where it automatically asks to connect to Wi-Fi when around the Wi-Fi, but since it has a passcode lock, I doubt that will happen in the lock screen. my new ipod touch 4 isnt showing up on itunes i have the latest itunes installed and im not sure why it isnt working.
it used to show up fine since i have had it for about 2weeks and then i tried to restore it and it has stopped showing up

My iPod Touch's screen has turned pale blue. Help?

My iPod Touch is still newly brought, just a few days old and whilst I was trying to charge it, the screen went to a pale blue. I tried switched it off with the "Wake/Sleep" and home button pressed together at the same time and took out the charger. After 10 seconds, it turns on with the apple logo but then, after a few seconds/minutes it turns back to pale blue. I'm going around in circles and my battery is on low charge.

It seem's that this a major problem and my best advice would be to create a meeting at your local Apple Store's Genius Bar. If you're not sure how to do this, ask me!

I have an iPod Touch 8gb model MC540LL and it will not update. My iTunes program is 10.6 but every time I attempt to download and update the iPod I get the same message "The network connection could not be established." I've tried almost everything I know, even resetting the iPod's factory settings, but that won't work either, it recieves the same infernal message. Does anyone have any idea what could be happening?

As Apple has posted on their website since early June, only the 5th gen ipod touch can handle ios 7.

My Ipod was working fine this morning it had nearly ran out of battery, I put it on the docking station and nothing happened. I've tried charging it loads of different ways but it seems to have just died nothing is working and it won't switch on. I've tried to connect it to my computer but its not even showing up. Please help me I can't live without my ipod touch and when I've gone to the apple support it has just ran out of the warranty.

I recently restored my ipod Touch 4th gen on itunes 11.1 (On a PC windows 8.1 64-bit) but after doing that I updated itunes to 11.1.4.62 . Now my ipod will not sync or show any sign of connecting to itunes even after I put it in recovery mode. I tried everything in itunes' troubleshoot guide but none of that worked. So today I decided to change my Itouch password. After realizing the code was an awkward movement for my fingers I changed it to something easier. If your iPod Touch does not have volume buttons on the left side then it is a first generation and iOS 3.1.3 is as far as you can go. If tou have volume buttons, you can go higher using iTunes,

Like I said my ipod touch built in speakers wont work now yesterday I was able to hear and use them when I was using the pianist app from the itunes store and it worked fine and today I redownloaded the digidrummer lite app since my old one for some reason didnt work and once I did download the app I synced to my ipod and tried to play and noticed that no sound came out so I tried other apps and also my music and also no sound. with headphones connected it works fine sound comes out and all.

K, so last night I tried the home+sleep/wake button hold thing and reset it that way and also just normal shutoffs which didnt fix it and also tried the ideas that you guys said and no go. everynow and then it would make the sound when I unlock it. so i just left it on and let the battery die see if that would do something it got to 10% and shuts off i guess so then i charged it on my stereo system with an ipod dock and was listening to music then i disconected it and to my suprise it started playing through the internal speakers again. I was skeptical at first so I turned it off and tried again it worked. so i went to the app that I think caused the problem in the first place called digidrummer lite I was able to hear the drums tom toms etc went to the home menu tried again played that app once more but this time there was no sound. I went to my music and everynow and then it would play but fade out or not play at all. so I took digidrummer off and so far the speakers are working again but I will still need to test them more.
