My iPod touch is COMPLETELY unresponsive. Will Apple replace it?

This morning I picked up my iPod touch and tried to turn it on. Nothing happened, so I assumed it was just out of batteries. I left it on the charger for hours and then treid it again- nothing. The iPod just plain won't turn on. I tried it on iTunes in DFU mode- nothing. This iPod was never jailbroken, but it is safe to say it is "bricked". Recently I tried updating it to iOS 5, but I was unable to because of an iTunes error.
Unless Apple can magically go inside it and fix it- because it's most certainly some kind of hardware failure- this iPod has seen its last day. Will Apple replace it? It was a replacement iPod for another one I had that lost its charge, but is covered under the warranty for another year. Will they replace it or make up some trumped-up charge that I mis-used it? (A few years ago on a different iPod, a 2G, they claimed the liquid immersion had activated, but I checked this myself and found nothing!) Literally, I just picked it up and it was not working.

What was the error you received when yu tried to update the iPod? The following lists error  and their resolution.

    Yes unless:
If Apple determines that an iPod is not repairable, for example, if it has failed due catastrophic damage or the iPod has been disassembled into multiple pieces, then Out-of-Warranty Service is not available and the iPod will be returned. Please see Apple's Repair Terms And Conditions for further details.

  • My ipod touch is completely unresponsive.  Will not turn on at all even when connected to power???? HELP!!!

ipod touch completely unresponsive.  will not turn on at all even when connected to power source.  is it dead????

After charging for at least an hour reset the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next connect the iPod to your computer and see if iTunes sees the iPod.  If it does try restoring the iPod via iTunes.  If it is not visible try the following to make it visible:
--- Place it in recovery mode via:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
    --- Place in DFU mode:

  • My Ipod Touch is completely unresponsive and shows no signs of functioning.

I had received the Ipod from a sibling after they obtained the iphone 5c and I haven't touched it since I got it. It was working fine while my sister had it and as far as I know there are no injuries on the device besides the countles back scratches. Now that I have explained the conditionof the device, time for the problem. it is a 8gb 4th generation.
The ipod will not turn on or even show the apple logo. It doesn't charge either and I have tried charging it with multiple usb cords, ports, and multiple windows running desktops. The device will not be recognized by any computers AND isn't recognized by itunes.
I have tried to reset it and even charged it over night to no avail. I looked around endlessly on the internet but haven't found a solution. If someone can assist me with this problem i would be soooo happy.

In the evenings and at night it can take an hour or more to get a response
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Cracked iPod touch 4th gen screen, will apple repair it for free? Ive had it 4months

My boyfriend bought me the latest iPod touch for Christmas 2011. I've had it 4 months, yesterday I put it on the coffee table round my mates and my mate accidentally knocked it off (table was no higher than half a metre), when I picked it up I realised there is a crack in the screen. I know apple give you a year warrantee on all iPods but my boyfriend never bought the extended warrantee. As I've only had my iPod touch 4 months will apple fix it for free or will I have to pay? Also how long does it take to get repaired?

It is not covered by warranty.  However, sometimes if you make an appointment at the Genisu Gar of an Apple store the Genius will exchange it at no cost. Otherwise the exchange price is:

Apple exchanges iPods and does not repair yours so if yu go to an Apple store they will exchange it on the spot.

  • Ipod Touch is completly unresponsive(2g 8gb)

    IPOD TOUCH 2G 8GB
First, this issue started out with a power outtage while restoring, after that i checked the apple support for the issue and youtube(because ipod would not even appear on any computer with usb after restore) so i tried to do the hard boot(10 seconds each button) then the ipod repeated to startup(with just apple logo no itunes) then the screen went black and became unresponsive to anything, the only way i could get it to charge while stuck in recovery was to plug it into my dock, but now it wont even turn on with dock! please help!

  • Ipod touch wont completely turn on, Apple logo then change of screen colors.

Ipod touch 4th generation wont even turn on now. I was updating my ipod touch and then the battery died midway through the process. When i oringally started the update my battery was at 5% so i plugged it in to charge as told, but it still ended up dieing in the update process. Now,  it wont turn on I just get the apple logo, and then the screen eventually changes colors. I was updating to the newest update that just came out.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod touch 2nd Gen unresponsive, will not power on or charge.  Have plugged it into my iMac, but will not charge or power on...  Any idea what it could be?

  • If my home screen is completly black will apple replace it with a new phone within warranty?

My phone is operating but my home screen is completly black.

Basic Troubleshooting Steps when all else fails
    - Quit the App by opening multi-tasking bar, and swiping the App upward to make it disappear.  (For iOS 6, holding down the icon for the App for about 3-5 seconds, and then tap the red circle with the white minus sign.)
    - Relaunch the App and try again.
    - Restart the device. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
    - Reset the device. (Same article as above.)
    - Reset All Settings (Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings)
    - Restore from backup. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766 (If you don't have a backup, make one now, then skip to the next step.)
    - Restore as new device. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137  For this step, do not re-download ANYTHING, and do not sign into your Apple ID.
    - Test the issue after each step.  If the last one does not resolve the issue, it is likely a hardware problem.
As far as what Apple will do, you'll have to check with them.  If you're within warranty and they determine the issue is a hardware defect, and not caused by damage of some sort, you should get a replacement iPhone that will retain the remaining part of your current warranty, or 90 days, whichever is greater.
If it's not covered by the warranty, it will be $199 to replace it.

  • I restored my ipod touch however the apps will not sync.  I tried to re-download but I changed my apple id as my old id is no longer a valid email address.  Any ideas out there please

I restored my ipod touch however the apps will not sync.  I tried to re-download but I changed my apple id as my old id is no longer a valid email address.  Any ideas out there please?

It might be logical to someone, but not to me. I agree it's a pain.
How did you change your Apple ID? Creating a new one is not what you want to do, but if you changed the ID associated with your purchases then that might have worked. You would need to sign in with the Apple ID on both your iPod Touch as well as in iTunes. I'm not sure how you changed it but clearly they need to match.
If it's just your password that is not getting recognized reset it here: http://iforgot.apple.com/
It will send an email confirmation to the email address associated with that Apple ID. The email address you elect to use might not look anything like your Apple ID. If you don't appear to get an email check your spam filter.

  • Will apple replace my  cracked ipod touch which is under garranty for free?

will apple replace my cracked ipod touch which is under garranty for free??

You would have ot pay for the repair.

  • Will Apple replace my Ipod Touch 5g, Even if its over a year old?

I have an iPod touch 5g, which i bought in January of 2013. This iPod has been malfunctioning for a couple of days now. I connect it to a power source since it indicates its low on battery. When I do, it turns on, however, it will not charge much and the battery will continue to be red on the top right hand corner of the screen. I have an app which helps indicate around how much battery the iPod has. This app says that the iPod never charges past 15% and if i disconnect it, it shuts down. If the problem is in the battery, and it's a hardware problem, will Apple replace my iPod? Can they still do it? It is over a year old, but after all, i paid for a product that would last longer than a year and a half, didn't I?

You no longer have warranty coverage. Whatever Apple will do you will have to pay for it since it is out of warranty.
If your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad is Broken
Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.
ATTN: Beginning July 2013 Apple Stores are now equipped to do screen repairs/replacements in-house on iPhone 5 and 5C. In some cases while you wait. According to Apple this is the beginning of equipping Apple Stores with the resources needed to do most repairs for iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches that would not require major replacements. Later in the year the services may be extended as Apple Stores become equipped and staffed with the proper repair expertise. So, if you need a screen repaired or a broken screen replaced or have your stuck Home button fixed, call your local Apple Store to see if they are now doing these in-house.
