My ipod touch is disabled and will not reset itself.

It is a friends and her kids locked it. I have never had it on my computer but when I plug it in to itunes it just says it is locked and has to be unlocked before it will connect. I have tried to reset it and it will not. The screen says ipod disabled try again in 21,872,000 minutes. Help I need to know what I can do

You likely have a hardware problem like a dead battery. To rule out a software problem try the following in order:
- Reset:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore the iPod from backup via iTunes
- Restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

You are going to have to restore it. Scince itunes does not connect to ur ipod because its disabled you are gonna have to put your ipod in DFU mode. Basicaly u have to hold the power and home button atthe same time for 10 second then release power button and keep holding home button for about 15 seconds ( all this you do it while ipod is connected to the computer) if it works, itunes will detect ur ipod in recovery mode and will give you the option to restore it.

If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone and use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
You can also wipe the iOS device by installing the FindMyiPhone app on another iOS device and using that app to wipe the device.
