My iPod Touch is freezing and rebooting itself.

Hi.
Here's the story:
My iPod was recently working yesterday. I left it on the wall charger for a while, and later I come back to find my iPod frozen, out of nowhere. For another while, it freezes and starts to reboot itself. I done all I can. I watched videos on how to unfreeze it and etc, and I tried restoring it, and doing about everything I can to recover this iPod, it doesn't work. So I turned it off, and let it settle overnight. This morning, I turn it on, and it restored, everything was working fine, until when I go to my Messages app, it freezes once again, and now it is doing the same thing, but this time it repeats to the home screen, freezes, and reboots again. I tried calling for support and they said my warranty is expired.
I own an iPod Touch 4G, 8GB, for about 6 months.
To be specific: It always goes to the Apple logo and then the loading circle then shuts off, then does it again. Before this problem about a day before this happened, I accidentally put a little water on it and wiped it off while I was working on chores. (Sorry, I often have it next to me a lot.) Plus, I did have a lot of data on it but it didn't seem much of a problem.
Please, if anyone can help, tell me what is the reason behind this problem, and at least if you can try to solve this for me. I will try going to a local Apple store later on if this problem keeps going. But for right now, I need this help. Thank you all.
Bye.

- Have yu tried letting the battery fully draining and then charging and trying to retore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod?
- Try placing it is recovery mode and then DFU mode and then restoring if necessary.
- For recovery mode:

  • Iphone 3gs freezes and reboots itself every now and then

Hi, I have an iPhone 3GS with latest firmware 5.0.1 and sometimes it just freezes and reboots itself. I tried to restore it as new, from backup, I upgraded firmwares but still every now and then it just reboots itself. Often when I start the phone in the morning it reboots several times in a row. Are the latest firmwares buggy or what? Please help!

I found solution on this forum.  He said the problem solved by reset all setting -> as new phone.  (Don't worry, data is preserved).  This works for me so far.. keep my finger cross.

  • Ipod touch 2G freezing and restarting

Lately, as in the past few weeks or so, my ipod has been freezing and restarting at random intervals. Sometimes, it works for days, then acts up, and sometimes it only works for a few minutes. When it does this, the screen flashes and goes all sorts of different colors, then the ipod shuts off. Sometimes, it takes upwards of five minutes and trying different buttons to get it to come back on. I've already tried many resets and I've restored it twice, I am also using the latest software. I have NO idea what else to do.

    Hi Damien,
please write about your experience there because I have a similar problem:
My ipod touch 2G 8GB freezes too after various periods of normal function. It is possible to get it working again by setting it back to factory defaults and then playing back the backup. The freezing occurs quite often.
The ipod was in the dealer´s repair shop twice (i suppos that is not an Apple repair shop). Both times they sent it back with de text "device tested, no mistake found, operating system installed as goodwill". I presume they just set it back to factory defaults which I can do myself but don´t want to do it every few minutes or hours.
How can I convince the repair shop that there is really a problem with the ipod?
    Cheers
    Peter

  • My ipod touch keeps freezing and doesnt want to turn on anymore.

i have a 32gb 4th generation ipod touch, it stopped working properly like 2 weeks ago. It stopped functioning right when the home button didnt go as smooth. I had to press it really hard to go from one app to the home screen. if i pressed it twice to change music, it would turn negative color. i turned that off but the button kept acting the same. it is fustrating. ive tried turning it off then back on but it doesnt change and today while in an app it froze completely.  i held the power and home button to reset it, although it was hard, it turned off. while trying to turn it back on, it froze on the black screen with the apple in the middle. is there anyway i can fix it or what can i do?
i need help its very fustrating and it keeps turning on and off by itself on the black screen with the apple for over 10 minutes.
ive only had it for 5 months. please help!

This also happened to me when I did the jailbreak and restored, he caught the apple in the middle of the screen and spent four monthswithout knowing what to do, I called support and found it was onlyTIGHTEN THE BUTTON UP, HOLD AND PRESS THE BUTTONAND HOME HOLD BOTH, then the image will appear to connectthe pc, when you will connect to iTunes and a message that youriPod disendo is in recovery mode, then just restore it and hope itreturns to normal. Hope this helps everyone.

  • Computer slowing down, freezing, and rebooting itself

I have a macbook pro, 2.6 Ghz and its running so incredibly slow you would of thought it was from 1990. If I click to fast it dies, spotlight causes it to freeze, apps boot really slow or auto quit, it has occasionally just restarted by itself. I have done the disk utility check and it says it's just peachy. I have also tried to install cocktail but it won't even load onto my computer. Most of the time now the only way to shut down is to hold power button because apps wont quit or even force quit. What is wrong and if I have to reinstall all software how do I transfer all my stuff. I also have 90GB of the 150GB so it's not memory either.
    Chris Cross

    HI,
*"I have done the disk utility check and it says it's just peachy"*
Define peachy. Does it actually say the, "hard drive appears to be ok"?
*"I also have 90GB of the 150GB so it's not memory either."*
I think you are confusing available disk space with RAM. But as long as your available disk never falls below 15% of the total capacity of the drive, you're ok.
*"it has occasionally just restarted by itself."*
How long have you had this MacBook Pro? Do you have AppleCare?
If your MBPro is restarting on it's own then try resetting the SMC, instructions here.

Try using a different user account and see if these problems persist. If they do, then the problems are system wide, not isolated to your admin account.
Try running the Apple Hardware Test, instructions here.

If you can, back up important data just in case the drive fails completely.
Last recourse is to do an Erase and Install.

  • Nokia E71 freezes and reboots itself when receivin...

My phone has numerous times frozen when I receive calls. The phone has also been replaced locally but the same problem persists even on the new unit... I assume it is software related.

Battman, you won't get updates in the form of texts or e-mail. You will get "alerts" if there are any updates, if you have subscribed to the My Nokia service.
You can check for updates and install them through FOTA. Type *#0000# on the stand-by, you will be shown the current firmware in your phone: press Options -> Check for updates. If there's an update available through FOTA, you will be prompted to install it. Otherwise, you will have to use Nokia Software Updater that can be downloaded for free from the Nokia website. Another option is to take it to a Nokia Care Point, but they might charge you for the service.
    Hope this helps

  • Ipod touch 2g freezing after unlocking

My ipod touch is freezing and having many issues right after I unlock it.
Usually it locks up and the screen and both buttons become un-responsive.
I end up having to hold both buttons down to restart, but it just freezes again right after unlocking.
What advice do you guys have?
It's 4 months old and has had relatively low use. I have a 2 year old Second Gen that's working perfectly.

First I would restore from backup via iTunes to see it that fixes problem
Next would be to restore to factory defaults, also via iTunes, and then sync.
If those do not solve problem I would say it is a hardware problem and you should either call AppleCare or make an appointment at the Genius Bar of your local Apple Store

  • Ipod touch Keeps unlocking n locking itself

I was adding more apps & was on the safari then my Ipod touch started unlocking and locking itself. tried to turn itself off & making sounds like it was taking a picture but I dont even have a camera on it. I think it might be a virus but I dont want to hook it up to the computer to restore it incase it is a virus I dont want it on the computer too! Please help!!

It's not a virus. Try resetting your iPod Touch to see if that clears the problem.
To Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).

  • Dead iPod Touch after upgrade and multiple freezes

I have kept everything up to date on my MacBook Pro and iPod Touch, but I began having problems on the Touch once updates for new Apps appeared. If I tried to update the Apps wirelessly using the Touch (is there any other way?) the thing froze up from the first try. Getting it back to normal would take several hard restarts or a complete reinstall from iTunes. However, whenever I got it restored and working there was still the problem that most of my Apps were still waiting on updates and the number was increasing. I figured the problem was a bug in one of the updates, so I tried updating just one App at a time -- but every time the Touch would freeze and the cycle of several hard restarts and much time waiting before it became usable was repeated. My next thought was to remove all Apps and try them one-by-one to see if there was a particular problem. In this way, I was able to get wireless updates to work (one-by-one) and most of my Apps back on the iPod. THEN while I was still doing this, the recent upgrade appeared for the Touch and of course I installed it immediately thinking my problems would soon go away. All seemed fine, and after checking it I went on to try to install the last few apps. But upon the installation of my last app (Texas Hold'em) iTunes froze along with the iPod. I had to force quit iTunes and tried to hard restart the ipod. I WAS able to get the iPod to shut down, but since that time, I am unable to fully RESTART the iPod Touch at all. It shows the Apple logo and over a period of a few minutes might beep a couple of times, but appears frozen. If I wait for a long while the battery eventually goes dead. If I connect it to a power source it makes no difference. I have tried restarting 6-7 times, but this time it just won't get past the Apple. Reconnecting it in its dead state to iTunes starts a vain effort that leads to iTunes freezing. Before I return it to Apple for repair, is there ANYTHING else I should try??

I too have been having many issues with the recent upgrade as well as updating my apps. For the upgrade, I rebooted 3 times and on the last try, I waited for over an hour before the apple logo finally gave way to the menu. Since then I attempted to install the app upgrades through the wi-fi on the iPod Touch to no avail. My previous attempts only resulted in the Touch freezing and I had to force a reboot. Today if I "install" I see the loading progress on the app's icon but it keeps repeating the process. One app gave me a message that it cannot be installed directly and that I had to use iTunes. I synced the iPod and I did see the message that it was installing the app; but, the icon on the iPod still indicates that it's attempting to load. Is there a way to update using iTunes? Is there a way to simply update using any method?

  • ITunes freezes when I plug my iPod Touch 4 in and it won't sync.

    Ok guys,
So recently, I have had MAJOR problems with my iPod touch (not jailbroken) and they're driving me INTO INSANITY!!! So, a few weeks ago, I added a movie I downloaded onto my iTunes. All **** broke loose from there. At first I wasn't able to sync. My iPod was detected but it wouldn't sync unless I restored it. Later, it began to not sync unless I plugged it into my computer without iTunes up. iTunes began to freeze and become unresponsive. When it froze, it would began to actually sync, just not say. Then it began to not sync at all, and now I can't do anything.
I am at my witts end. I am deperate. I have tried averything under the sun from deleteing practically everything on my iTunes to updating iTunes to trying to reset Bonjour. Down below are links to every problem I have. They keep piling on each other to where I can't find just one post to describe. And these people decribe it better than I do. Can anyone help? I don't want to have to reset iTunes or re-install. I have precious apps that NEED to be backed up.

I forgot to mention, whenever it does sync, it just gets stuck staying "verrifying ipod".
Try having that topped off with freezing.

  • My Macbook Pro *****! I have had it for 2 weeks now, got it brand new at the apple store, it freezes all the time, and reboots itself, sometimes when i start it, purple dots cover the screen and i have to hold the power button.

I have had it for 2 weeks now, got it brand new at the apple store, it freezes all the time, and reboots itself, sometimes when i start it, purple dots cover the screen and i have to hold the power button. a 2 week old computer is not supposed to do this! it wastes all its time being so flashy that it just craps out all the time. sometimes i feel like i should have stayed with my virus covered PC. at least when it shut down randomly you could turn it back on, but with the macbook pro, it just keeps restarting itself over and over. need help with this, any answers?

Here's a novel thought. Take it back to the vendor. Should have done that one week ago.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
