I don't know about your deleted files but I suspect it was due to synchronizing issue. With regard to your funky video, I think you may have protective case on your iPT that squeeze the touch screen too tight. As a result, it causes the screen to malfunction. Get rid off your protective case and reset your iPT and you may get your video back (and that was what happened to me when I put a Griffin case on my new iPT).
Hope this work for you.

I charge my ipod using a wall to usb adapter. While charging, the ipod seems to lag behind my touch and not respond at all sometimes. Help?

    That happens to some:
    - Try another cable
    - Try another charging source
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

iPod touch 3rd generation crashed while updating, and now it won't turn on, and it won't charge or be recognized in iTunes because it's completely dead; it's been dead for 3 days now. I've tried pressing home/sleep buttons for reset but nothing works, I've tried using different usb ports to charge it, but nothing seems to work. Please help asap. ...Thanks!(:

After charging the iPod for half an hour, see if placing the iPod in recovery mode will allow iTunes to see the iPod so you can restore the iPod.  For recovery mode see:

I have an iPod Touch 3rd gen and while it is recognized by my laptop with Win 8.1, it won't sync with iTunes.  It worked fine while my laptop had Win 8 but after the update, it quit syncing.  Strange though, I downloaded an app directly to my iPod and when I connected it to my laptop again (for recharging if nothing else), iTunes updated itself by including the new app.  I also tried syncing wirelessly.  Also unsuccessful.  I'm about ready to change to an alternate to iTunes if I can't get this situation fixed.  Anyone else have this problem and/or a solution?

Correct. When you update via iTunes all synced media that is not in your iTunes library will be lost.
    As IO said before:
You can redownload most iTunes pruchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
I do not think it included audio books.

  • Is the iPod Touch always going to backup?

Since updating to 2.0, iTunes wants to backup my iPod every time I connect. Is my iPod Touch always going to do a Backup during the sync process or is there a setting to adjust this?

    This is what I do.
I created a TextEdit file and stored it on my desktop, It is two lines (commands) separated by a return. You can copy the two commands from this message to your clipboard. The two commands are:
defaults write com.apple.iTunes DeviceBackupsDisabled -bool true
defaults write com.apple.iTunes DeviceBackupsDisabled -bool false
When used in the Mac OSX application Terminal, the first line is used to turn off backups. The second turns them back on.
Once you have the TextEdit file saved in the location that you want, do the following steps.
    1. Open your TextEdit file
    2. Highlight the command you want. Use only one. I triple click the text with my Logitech mouse.
    3. Select Edit>Copy
    4. Open the application Terminal
    5. Select Edit>Paste (Hit return if you don't get a new prompt.)
    6. Terminal does not confirm the result of the command. You just get the same prompt as before.
    7. Type exit. Terminal responds "Process Completed"
    8. Quit Terminal and TextEdit You are done and ready to sync.
This takes about thirty seconds compared to the backup which in my case takes hours.
    PLEASE NOTE
I use my Administrator account to do this. Never tried it with a Standard account.
If you choose to disable backups, any data saved in iPod touch applications will be lost if you have to do a restore.
I tested the no backup command a few minutes ago and it worked syncing my iTouch 1G to my iMac.
I posted this step by step incase you have never used Terminal. My apologies to the Unix geeks.
    Use at your own risk.

We are evaluating the use of iPod touch devices to record best practice videos on our manufacturing floor and to post to an internal Moodle web site. How can you upload a video from the iPod touch to a site other than YouTube? The Moodle upload interface is expecting a file selection dialog box like windows or OSX. I do not want to have to go through an intermediary step of messing with a pc.
    Thanks!

It should be around 7 and a half gigs. In iTunes, across the bottom there should be a bar that show how much storage is being used and by what. (music, movies, apps, etc.) To make music take up less room, you can check the box to make it convert the music to 128kbps AAC. This lowers the quality, but with most earbuds and speakers, you can't even tell the difference.
The iPod touch has parental controls built in. You'll find them in Settings. I think they only work for enabling/disabling Safari, Mail, YouTube, and App Store. Here's an app that does more: http://www.mobicip.com/online_safety/ipod_touch

    Thanks Tgara.
Its funny. So far the responses have been 50/50 on this question. I even asked two seperate Apple Store employees here in NYC, and got two different answers! One said yes, the other no.
    Argh!
I know from watching the keynote speech about icloud and iOS 5 that you will be able to cut the cord between the pc and ios devices like the ipad. No more need to sync them via a cord. So will that mean i would then be able to load video directly to the ipad via tha cam kit connector from my ipod? Also i wonder if/when Apple will allow HD video from on Apple devices like a canon dslr to be able to transfer to the ipad via the cam kit connector AND be able to EDIT that footage in imovie for the ipad. Speaking of imovie for the ipad...i hope it gets an update soon as well.
Anyway....with the macbook airs getting updated next week with thunderbolt and new sandy bridge chips....i may just get one of them instead of the ipad 2 for editing video on the road. Still...i prefer surfing the web experience on the ipad. Grrrrrrr. **** youuuuuuu Apple!!! Lol

  • Ipod Touch Keeps Going Into Recovery Mode

Hi, I've had an Ipod touch for about 6 months now and haven't really had any problems with it to date. Recently (around the time I installed the 1.1.3 firmware), it seems to be randomly going into recovery mode.
When I plug it into my imac, Itunes says it detected an ipod in recovery mode, and I have to restore it. During the restore process the screen lights up with apple logo and spinning wheel, it says successful restore. But the ipod doesn't restart... just goes straight back into recovery mode. It usually takes about 2 or 3 restore attempts before it works properly. I resync and everything goes back to normal for a few uses. Then I go to turn it on and nothing... itunes just tells me to restore again.
Anyone else seen this issue before? I'm pretty sure the batteries aren't flat (since when it finally does restore, they usually start around half full... and I've tried leaving it on the charger for a few hours to no avail). And I only turn wifi on when I need it (usually turned off). I've tried pretty much everything I can find in the help files (hold button, hold+power, hold while connecting to itunes, nothing seems to wake it up... just black screen until a successful restore happens)...
    Thanks in advance...

I had the same problem with my Touch but it started the first day. It was also doing weird things like telling me the battery was full then half an hour later warn me there was only 10% left. It got better for a while but long syncs with iTunes usually threw it into restore mode again.
I finally brought it to the Apple store nearby and they were able to recreate the problem when they tried a sync on their machine. They told me it was a hardware issue and did an exchange right there. I have heard bringing it to an Apple Store will increase your chances of an exchange. Sending it in may or may not get you a new one. Good luck.

  • Ipod Touch only syncs apps while next, older touch syncs everything fine

    Hi all,
Weird issue here. Don't know if it's an iTunes or Touch issue, but think topic is ok for here.
Both me and my wife have an ipod touch which we sync via the same pc (same iTunes), what worked out fine up to now. We have our own playlists we sync with the touch by selecting them in the music tab. These settings are equal for both, configured correctly, so iTunes knows it has to sync the music playlists selected. This works fine, as before, for my iPod. However for my wife's it does not anymore. The overview tab of the touch in iTunes nicely shows how much data is present in the selected playlists (little over 6 GB) and as said, the music tab is set such that it should sync selected playlists. The strange thing happens when actually syncing. It starts, syncs the apps and stops saying syncing is completed. No music, while everything is set correctly and recognized as such judged by the overview of data per type (i.e. apps, photo's, music etc.) in the overview. The one difference of today compared to the last time, when all was fine, is that I updated the software on my wife's touch. What can cause this? Any ideas?
Help appreciated; I can't see why it works fine on mine (older version touch), settings are equal, shows correctly in iTunes, but does not act like it when syncing.
    Hope someone has an idea.
    Thanks,
    BMC

I have a theory that it's tied to Snow Leapord and/or iTunes, probably something Apple did to disable Palm Pre phones from being able to sync with iTunes. I've never seen that confirmed though, so it might nto be. All I know is I've been having this problem for a long time. I just tried iTunes 9.2.1 on my Mac hoping Apple had finally fixed it, but alas they didn't.
The solution I found? Get a PC and find an old version of iTunes. You give up some of the newer so-called features, and you've got to deal with a Windows box for your library, but at least the iPod will sync.
