My ipod touch is picking up wi-fi networks but cannot connect

My ipod is scanning and picking up the various wireless networks that i have however when i type in the user name and address for these networks it says unable to join this network. I have restored and updated my ipod but it still doesnt work. Can someone help?

- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router.
- Reset networks settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Does it connect to other networks?
- Did it evry connect to your network?
