I'm not understadning whats worng with my Ipod. I ddi the latest update on the ipod and after that no music was showing up on my ipod but if i plugged it into my computer or a forgin computer it was showing that there was music on the ipod. what troubleshooting step am I missing??

I need to know how I can connect my ipod and have it upload the music on it to my new computer. I have 900+ songs on it right now and alot are from CD's that I no longer have access to. I have had this ipod for forever and I want all the music to show up on my new computer but everytime I connect it says my only options are to sync and erase everything or only transfer the music that was bought on the itunes store which isn't alot since like I said most is from CD's that I don't have anymore. How do you get everything off the ipod into Library on new laptop & free up the space that was used when transferring (using ipod as hard drive to move over to new computer)? Also when try to sync music a box pops up saying are you sure as everything on the ipod will be removed & replaced with the items in the library but at the moment there's nothing in the library so don't want to lose everything?! These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Note if you have iOS devices and haven't moved your contacts and calendar items across then you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should merge the existing data from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

My ipod touch shows 10.1 gb of memory, but when I try to transfer a movie from my computer to ipod touch I get a error message that says "Cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the itunes library, additional 5.81 gb required.
I have had as many as 3-4 movies on here plus my music and had no problem, there are no other movies on my ipod. Wasssup??? I am 66 years old, can build a house or a car engine, but for the life of me I don't understand this stuff....Help!!Unless the move is about 16 GB, you are trying to sync more that the movie to your iPod. I would look carefull at awhat is checked to sync to the iPod.
Also how big is the "other" category as shown in the colored bargraph in iTunes? -

got my ipod touch a week ago. i have yet to be able to connect to internet. been to the airport twice in the last week. FULLLL wi-fi signal, still get that dang message saying it's not connected to the internet blah blah blah.
so now i'm trying to connect to my home network. (that 2wire thing).
it's the only network my ipod picks up and i know it's mine.
sometimes the password workes, sometimes it doesn't.
yesterday it sorta worked for a while. (i reset my router and had to set everything up again) but it would just say the server isn't responding.
just now, i made sure to set the passwrd as the default and everything.
and it says 'cannot join network.' or something like that, i forgot.
MAIN THING:
i noticed that when i click the blue arrow my network, all the info is blank, like the ip adress, dns, all that. yesterday when it seemed like it wuz attempting to work, for a little while, the ip adress,etc, showed up. not now. why's this?

P.S: yes i've tried everything that's suggested, restarting, forgetting netwrk, renewing lease,resetting settings, all that, many times.Regarding "public" wifi spots, like perhaps your airport, it may not be enough to choose that wifi point in Settings|Wi-Fi. or let the iPod choose it for you. (You'll get a signal to these, but that's not enough.)
You may have to open Safari and try to access a site. At that point, the wifi provider will jump you to a login page where you either press an acknowledge button or have to provide other information. Once that's done, you are connected and can browse or use other apps that connect to the web. One warning, some spots (like my local mall) will block some ports, like email.
For your local router, my blue arrow gives a page with ip, subnet mask, router, and other info filled in. What kind of router are you using and what type of security? -

If they are iTunes purchases that you bought on your phone then have you copied them over from it to your computer's iTunes ? If that is the computer that you sync the phone to then you should be able to copy them over by connecting it and doing File > Devices > Transfer Purchases. Or (depending upon what country that you are in) you might be able to redownload them directly on your computer's iTunes via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage.
In terms of your account's balance, have you tried logging out of your account on your computer (Store > Sign Out menu option) and then logging back in (it will change to a Store > Sign In option) and seeing if your balance changes ? -

An email sent from my iMac has a button linked to a clip hosted on Vimeo. When received, the link functions on iMac and iPad, but opens a window of app icons on iPhone and iPod touch. Any ideas what's wrong?
For anyone else reading this thread, it is worth knowing that sometimes an email is, or can be, corrupted thereby jamming the works. The solution above is good, but I just wanted to suggest another one.
If the problem arises, go to an online mail access service, such as Mail2Web.com and login to you mail account there and delete the offending message.
Problem solved.
And George, as this is all entirely voluntary, whinging about no takers may not endear people to you. Besides which, a few minutes of searching on Google would have found you a number of solutions. -
my ipod touch is stuck on the apple logo and after a while a white screen comes up and it restarts and the same thing all over agan. this happened to me before and after a while it turns on but why does it keep on doing this?

After my computer has been asleep and I touch my trackpad, it wakes enough to show my icon but not enough to acknowledge my keyboard or trackpad so I can type a password. It seems the only way to make it work it to turn it off the back button.
The reason, I included the annotation that I'd upgraded my Itunes, (On my Computer) is B/C in many forums - the very first question, *HELPERS* ask, is. "Do you have the latest version of Itunes downloaded on your computer." I wanted to knock out any obvious replies.
Now- "DO YOU have any idea,"... how your UNHELPFUL remarks, do absolutely nothing but hurt others that might not have the EXPERIENCE you have? How do you expect people to know things without asking questions? Whew! RUDE!!
