My ipod touch is stuck on recharge mode even when it isn't connected to the computer???
Right now my Ipod touch is in the charging / recharge screen and it won't leave that screen even when I unplug it. And it don't seem to be charging the red part on the battery indicator is flashing red and not moving into the green at all I have tried everything and would like to know what I can do to fix this!!!

How to recover from an iPod Touch 2G stuck in recovery mode (even after using DFU)
I have an iPod Touch 2G which is in a mode that requires recovery. When connecting it to a Windows XP computer running iTunes 11.0.2.25(HP) it is detected as needing recovery. I think it has got into this state from pressing random buttons when it stopped working (not a good idea!).
I turn off my AVG antivirus software and Windows firewall and start the iTunes recovery. This fails with error 40.
I now try putting the iPod into DFU mode using iREB-v6. This reports that the iPod is in "PWNED DFU state". I then try the iTunes restore again and this time the iPod screen turns white and then I get an error 21.
I have tried 2 different cables and 2 different computers (Windows XP and Windows 7) and have also tried different USB ports.
Whilst this iPod was never knowingly jailbroken a visit to an Apple store was unsuccessful in that they claimed it had been jailbroken. Various combinations of buttons have been pressed together but no different firmware installed. I don't want to jailbreak it - just restore the factory settings. I'm not bothered about retaining any contents of the iPod.
Any ideas on what to try next and any advice on what the updater log is telling me precisely about the problem would be really useful.

My Third Generation iPod Touch is stuck in DFU Mode (Completely Black Screen) and I cannot exit it as I have a broken Sleep/Wake button on the iPod. Even worse, iTunes will not see the device so I can restore it.
The only thing that I can think of is to wait until it's battery has completely drained and then restore it.

This program may geit out of recovery mode. However, if something went wrong with te iOS and it went inot recovery mode then it might not be able to get it out of recovery mode. When in recovery mode the data is not accessable.

Okay my Ipod Touch is stuck in recovery mode and will not restore because "the ipod software update server cannot be contacted". I have tried to restart my computer, restart my ipod, tried different computers, and re-intalled AND updated my itunes and it still will not restore. It is stuck on the picture of the usb cable pointing to itunes and won't do anything else. I'm trying to restore it because my memory was full and I wanted to clean it out and now the ipod is useless, please help me restore it!

When I accidentally disconnected my iPod touch 4G during an update yesterday, it automatically went into recovery mode (the screen with the USB cable pointing up towards an iTunes logo). Now it won't turn off, it is recognised by neither my laptop nor by iTunes, it won't even go into DFU, so there's absolutely no way, as far as I can tell, to fix it. My wife gave me her older ipad. I have reset and removed all data. My Apple ID (Ipod touch) is not an email adress, but when I try to stu up the ipad it asks for my Apple ID, then tells me that for security reasons the Apple ID must be in email format?

I have tried to update my iPod Touch 4G to the latest update, I currently have iOS 4.1. After the 4 hours an error message appears saying iTunes had lost connection even when I am fully connected to the internet. I have repeated the update 4 times now with not luck. Any ideas?

AdamIf you get a network timed out error, try disabling the security software on the computer during the download and install.

<E-mail Edited by Host>Thanks for that 'sberman' - because my iPhone is backed-up to my work computer (only at this stage) I have had to call our IT Department in Adleaide. (4 times this morning). The last guy managed to get the phone into 'DFU Mode' - no more recovery mode screen - (kind of 'asleep' perhaps) from my understanding of same. I am awaiting a call again from IT so they can get my computer to actually recognise my iPhone on the C Drive. This also happened to one of my colleagues in Newman (WA). She got so frustrated with the whole process that she bought another phone the next time she was in 'civilisation.' She hasn't had any problems since. (Cross fingers).

There are two different causes of this, either it has been overheated, or the iPod just crashed. If it crashed, there is one simple step to fixing it. Letting the battery die. Do not connect to a charger port, or the device may get overheated, and need to be replaced. Once it dies, it normally will show the icon, that is needs to be charged. Once you charge it back up, it should go back to normal. If this doesn't help, then contact apple to the nearest store about getting a replacement.
