My iPod touch is stuck on the loading screen. Help?

I was on an app and it stopped working and went to a screen with a loading symbol that was not moving. I restarted my iPod and now all that comes up is the Apple logo. After a few minutes, the Apple logo will have that loading symbol with it and the loading sign will keep filling in until it is full and white over the Apple logo. I let it sit while I went to work and when I came back, the battery had died like I had hoped. I plugged it into my computer, but it is doing the same thing again. I am very frustrated and have no idea what to do!

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
