My iPod touch is synced to my old Mac and I have a new PC. Now when I plug my iPod into the new computer it will make the connection sound, but will not show up in my iTunes. I do not care to have the content copied over. Any suggestions?

I think that's the way it's supposed to work. When you connect to a computer that has iTunes, but is different from the computer you are normally synced to, you are asked if you want to sync to the current computer. If you say yes, it will replace the content of your iPod with what is designated to sync in the iTunes. If you say no, it will leave your content alone, but you won't be able to load any new songs, but you can still use it in disk mode as a storage device.
The exception is that you can transfer your iTunes store purchases to the new computer from the iPod, but I haven't done that myself. I'm not sure, but I don't think you can transfer non-store tracks, like those you burn from your own CDs. You have to copy those manually and then sync them onto the iPod.
Anyway, that's how it works with a 6th gen and the latest iTunes. Not sure if there is a limitation with 2nd gen.

Is it the same user/iTunes account or...?
Syncing to a new computer should give you the opportunity to replace the exisiting contents with the new.

Had the same problem. I initially reinstalled iTunes without removing the older files. Finally, I removed itunes, apple application support, apple mobile device support and apple software update. Downloaded a fresh iTunes instal file from the iTunes site. Everything is fine now.

If you have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. This makes 1 look and act more like previous versions. Also go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod>Sync your device>Set up syncing>Sync device manually.

Music purchased on iPod touch after sync is only on mac,not on touch

I have used the iTunes music store three times, purchasing three different songs. When I buy them, I am able to listen to them. However, once I sync, the songs are only on my iMac, and are not on my iPod. I have auto sync on, and there is a purchased on iPod touch playlist on my mac, but it just doesn't sync. I tried manually syncing and dragging it on to my iPod, but it still doesn't work. Any help would be welcomed.

I just found what my problem was, I have to authorize my machine first. I thought I had authorized it,( I always buy music on it, but I guess not then)

It won't show up on your Apple TV until it is fully downloaded into iTunes on your computer, have you done this.

Since no one here can possibly know what you specifically mean by "tried everything that other people are saying", no one can determine what you did wrong. Also, you didn't say what computer OS you use.

Try restarting your iPhone, then the computer, then if that doesnt work, try plugging the cord into a different usb outlet. This works for my nano because my laptops outlets are cheap... Hope it helps! if all else fails, ur warrenty will cover it. no worries.

Bought app in order to sync itunes with a blackberry playbook. Now Itunes will open on my computer but when i plug my ipods in to charge or sync, itunes is not showing that they are plugged in. Cant charge or anything!

I puchased a Blackberry Playbook Tablet and wanted to sync my itunes music, so following directions on the Playbook, I downloaded this app - Daniel Bingham Itunes sync - and when I went to my pc, I pulled it up, plugged in my Playbook and it did sync all my music from my Itunes library to the Playbook. However, now when I plug an ipod in my pc to charge or sync more music, my pc is not showing it recognizes any of my ipods being plugged in. It makes no mention of any of my ipods being connected! I also keep getting this "Found New Hardware Wizard" box that keeps popping up everytime I plug an ipod in - it originally showed up when I had Playbook plugged in to download all its info (I think) but it never completes, saying not compatible - so I click cancel. I have since clicked on remove New found hardware but it still pops up. Why does it continue to show with every Ipod now? Any idea on what I can do to repair this situation? Please help!
