My iPod touch is trying to update too many apps at one time how do I stop it ?

my itouch had around 73 apps that needed to update, so I chose "update all". I guess its overload, the little spinning circle at the top of the screen
keeps spinning but nothing is happening. So how do I stop the updating process, so I can start over by updating one at a time?
I hope someone can help me with this!

You really can't. Try downloading them on your computer and sync. Next try restoring from backup.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

Usually indicates a hardware failure. Try restoring again, on a different computer if you can. And use Recovery Mode: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808. If that fails then it is nearly certainly a hardware issue as I said.

Thanks, Bob! You are correct. And, we learned this as we spoke with APPLE TECH SUPPORT by phone on Christmas day (800-APL-CARE). One of their reps spent the time to help us troubleshoot this, but the boiled down conclusion is your answer, and to repeat for the benefit of others, here is what worked:
1. With our Belkin router set to "out-of-the-box" WEP 64 bit security, we could not get wireless access of any kind. Only with the Security Mode set to DISABLED, could we gain access.
2. Changing the router's security mode setting to "WPA/WPA-2...." and entering a new min. 8 char passphrase, and then entering that same passphrase into the IPOD Touch, and restarting the router, did the trick!
Based on this, and some info found in another posting, I can only conclude that the IPODs and IPHONES do not support WEP security mode in many generic routers used by thousands of consumers. Hopefully, those same consumers can figure out how to change their wireless router setttings to WPA/WPA-2 security mode and ALSO get all their other wireless devices (PCs, laptops, WII boxes, ROKU boxes) all reconfigured to WPA mode, too.
I THINK THE BOTTOM LINE HERE IS THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE THAT APPLE NEEDS TO ADDRESS WITH WEP COMPATIBILITY and it may also be the case that MOST CONSUMERS ARE USING WEP 64 BIT security on their home wireless routers?
In any case, it's working now, so anyone who is having problems should try changing to WPA mode and post back here if it worked for them!

I went to upgrade my iTouch after finding I couldn't get an app because I didn't have the latest software. When I connected it at first it said my iTouch was unresponsive. This happened a few times till I I read online to restart my iPod and everything. So I did that and checked that I had the latest iTunes and it finally sync'd. Now it has been saying verifying iPod touch for an hour and iTunes has frozen.
Very frustrating because there is so much information but none of it is working for me.

All devices are using updated software and here's the issue:
Mom & Dad each have an ipod 3gs. Two teen kids each have an ipod touch 4. All 4 devices use the same Apple ID, share free and purchased apps. The kids are receiving Mom and Dad's text messages & messages between our texting contacts.
Question: 1. How can we avoid the kids receiving messages displayed on our phones to their touches (we are aware of iMessage on/off but we know the kids are able to turn this feature on and off on their touches without the need for a password.
Question: 2. If we set up separate Apple ID's for each Ipod device, can we all still share current purchased Apps & continue to share purchased Apps? Apple allows up to 5 devices share Apps.
Help is appreciated before we choose to not upgrade the older 3gs phones to the latest iphone and get Samsungs.

Any devices connected to the same icloud account can sync all the data on that account. For this reason an icloud account is really for a single user.
On a mac, if each user has their own account, then the itunes for that mac account should be set up to connect to that user's icloud account (System preferences>icloud).

Put too many apps onto one can't remove

Using iPad 4.. Put several apps into one app to save space. Now I can't open the big app to remove one so I can get to the rest. How can I get the big app to open?

If you are talking about a folder, where you placed multiple apps, there is no limit to the number of apps you can place in a folder. However, when you open the folder by touching it, you can only see 9 apps on the first page, and then you swipe to the left inside the folder to get to the next page of apps.
If you are saying you can't even get the folder to open when you touch it, reboot your iPad and try again.
Press and hold BOTH the power and home buttons at the SAME time for about 10 seconds until the Apple Logo appears, then let go of both buttons and your iPad will restart.

That's a very good question! It's important to be on the network you want to be on. How are you turning the wi-fi off? If you go into your settings there should be a wi-fi switch as the second option from the top. If we turn it off there it shouldn't come back on until you tell it to. If you select that and press the menu button (3 dots in the top right corner) you can also turn off "Allow wi-fi scanning" which can help not get notified of them when wi-fi is off.
