My iPod touch is unable to locate any WiFi networks

I Have followed all instructions, reset the iPod both using the buttons and via itunes, but the iPod seems unable to locate any active networks... Ay clues as to what I can try next?

Does the iPod connect or even see other networks?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iPod connect before?
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

If not successful, an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is usually in order.

I am trying to log onto my wireless connection but it keeps telling me I'm unable to locate any wireless network.  I know there are several networks nearby. Is this a problem with my phone or my router?

I found a solution that has worked on both iPhone 4's I have that have had the same issues, and also including not being able to download updates in the App store.
Go to Settings > WiFi and turn it OFF.
Next go to General > Cellular > Cellular Data and turn it OFF
Next go back to Settings > WiFi and turn it ON, (wait a few seconds for it to sync with your network)
Finally go back to General > Cellular > Cellular Data and turn it ON.
I had the same issues on both my wife's phone, and my own, and it fixed it immediately without changing any proxy settings or reboots, (which I did try on my phone and did not work, but did not try on my wife's phone)
    Hope this helps!

    Hello
Today my Iphone  unable to see any wifi network.
I tried to solve the problem in several ways.
    1. reset neteaork definitions.  -> did not solve the problem
    2. reset location and privecy  -> did not solve the problem.
    3. reset all definitions            ->  did not solve the problem.
Doses any one has any idea that can help?

The only other option I can think of is to try a Reset All Settings reset.  You won't lose anything, but your phone's settings will ALL be set back to factory default.
If this doesn't work you could try to do a restore through iTunes and set your phone up as new.  If that doesn't work, you may have a hardware problem and will need to take the phone in to an Apple store to have it checked out.

  • I changed the channel on my Belkin Wireless router now my ipod touch 1G can't find my wifi network?

A few hours ago I changed the channel on my Belkin Wireless router for the 1st time. It was either on auto, or channel 6 before, i'm not sure, but I changed it to 11, and now my ipod touch 1G can't find my wifi network. I tried changing it to 6, but nothing, and I also can't go back to auto. Can someone please help. I've already searched for the network, and it says "Cant find network". I've also restarted my router. I also added the MAC address, still nothing. Other than those things, I havent touched anything else. My ipod could connect before just find. My Wifi is not disabled, and it's not on private. I can connect with other wifi's fine. And I can connect to other networks with my ipod, I also held down the button on top, and the home button for 10 seconds to restart and nothing. I also reset my network settings. Please help!

Find the documentation for your router and look up "Reset to Factory Defaults."  This process will put the router back to the way it was when you bought it.

  • HT4972 ipod touch reset unable to connect to  wifi

Got rid of white screen after three days of trying to connect to I Tunes and was able to reset Ipod Touch.   Now I cannot get wifi, that area is faded. Why does everthing have to be so difficult.

Is there any Physical damage like being dropped or Liquid damage like getting it wet? Usually the "White Screen - Wifi Greyed out " combo is from one of these two things. Wifi is burned out and gone if it is greyed out in settings screen. Contact Apple for Out of warranty repair if you damaged it or have them repair it if it is still under warranty.

My iphone 4s does not detect any wifi networks but the apple genius said that the wifi signal seems to be fine but it just is not detecting any wifi networks and because I cannot find my receipt for the phone and the apple store only dates back purchases up to 18months ago, is there a way i can obtain my receipt?

If your warranty is up, the replaced iPhone will have a 90 day warranty.

I have my 1st generation's firmware upgraded to 3.1.3 and I still cant connect. when it says " checking for networks" it wont find any, but my sister's finds every network on our street . • My Ipod Touch will only search for available Wifi networks for a second then stop, and it will never find any networks anywhere.

OK I own the 1st generation Ipod touch and granted I bought it used and its pretty old, but the Wifi doesnt work at all. When I click on the checkmark box it turns on and it looks like its trying to find a connection, but it only tries for one second (literally) and then stops trying to look for a connection. It wont bring up any connection to choose from no matter where I go, it wont find one connection. Please help me this thing is driving me insane. I was told it could be a bad IP address, and that there is a way to get a new one. But How? I already reset it and restored it and nothing seems to fix it. So now I dont know what to do with it now.

So you also rebooted your router correct?  Does the iPod still connect okay to other networks?

  • Ipod Touch 4G unable to connect to WiFi

Have been trying to connect to home WiFi for few hours but with no success. The Ipod keeps telling me that I do not have the right password, but i am sure the password is correct as I had connected successfully my Iphone 4 with the same password.
I've read some of the postings. Is there a inherent problem with Ipod's iOS4 to connect to WiFi ?
I have tried the following with no success:
    a. Reboot your router (unplug it from its power source)
    b. Reset the touch network settings - tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Setting
    c. When the touch restarts, tap Settings > WiFi > Other and log onto your network by re-entering your network name, security setting, network password.
Any other suggestions to resolve this problem ?

Since your iPhone 4 has connected, your iOS iPod touch should connect as well. It's the same OS. The steps you followed (mine, btw) generally fix most WiFi issues but not all and, with so little information about your network setup, it's hard to say what is going on.
So please, some details about your network:
    Router make/model
    Encryption used
    SSID hidden or visible
    DHCP on or off
Since passwords are case sensitive, could it be that you forget to capitalize some characters in your password?
Also, you could have a hardware problem with your touch (which generation, btw?). To rule out hardware problems, reset your encryption to none and see if it will connect.

  • My ipod touch won't connect to the wifi network?

    Hello,
My ipod touch won't work upstairs in my house. It is a 32gb 3rd generation and you have to stand close to the router. My family has two other ipod touchs and both of them work up in my room. I need help on how to mak it so my iPod works. I have reset the network settings 5 times and I have restored it once. Neither of them work. I have had it since 2009 and i got the wifi router in February 2011. It worked until March break when I went to my friends house and my iPod wouldn't work unless I stood bside her laptop. there was 3 other iPod touchs that worked fne though. Can I get viruses on my iPod touch?? Please help

Here's how I solved my connection issues (I got this from doing online research):
Manually Configure Your Network: From DHCP tab, tap the STATIC tab at the top. You will be presented with 4 fields to fill in:
Field 1 is the IP Address. This address is for your iPod and it needs to be corret inorder to connect to the network. You need to know the address of your router in order to fill this field in. If you have a home network router, chances are your router address is something like 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 (you need to find this in your router's manual). Set your iPod's IP address to something like 192.168.X.150 (X= the 3rd number in your router's address).
Field 2 is the Subnet Mask. Most likely, your Subnet mask will be 255.255.255.0 (as long as your router's address begins with 192.168.X.X).
Field 3 is the Router Address. This address is given to you in your router's user manual. Some manufacturers even have it written on the bottom or back of the router itself. Most likely, it will be either 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 (confirm with your user manual). This address is also called the Default Gateway.
Field 4 is the DNS address. If the above fields are correctly set, these should be determined automatically. However, if they are not, you will need to get this (or these) address(es) from your Internet Service Provider. You may also obtain this information from http://opendns.com (free service).
When I first tried this procedure, I could only receive mail and not send. Later on, I could send but not receive. After a few calls to my ISP (they said they were having problems with the internet) and a lot of entering and re-entering the information, I finally gave up and early the next a.m. I input everything again and all of a sudden I was hooked up!
My ISP never could tell me why I couldn't get a connection.
    P.S. The port I used was 25.
    Good Luck!

  • TS4036 I have an Iphone 4S. I used to backup automatically to the cloud.  Since I did the software update I not longer can connect to any WIFI network!  I getthe message that it could not scan for wireless networks

since I updated my software to the IOS 7.0.4
I am unable to use any WIFI network
i cannot connect to my home wifi network I am unable to do any backups.  I have backed up my phone onto my Itunes account on my computer and I reset my phone...this did nothing but lose some of my pictures.. PLEASE HELP!

I read the article thanks.   I tried the settings-general-reset-reset network settings-reboot system-go to wifi settings-select wireless connection-select the ">"-symbol-select auto for http proxy.   I was optimistic about that because I thought I changed some setting somehow to cause this problem, but it didn't work.  More specifically, I did connect successfully and browsed the Internet for a good while, but then I put down the phone for a minute, the phone went into sleep/power save mode, and when I picked it back up a moment later it was no longer connected.  Dang.   Had to select the connection and use my password yet again.
Another valuable bit of info for you.   The only network with which I have this problem is my home.   I use all kinds of devices at home and no other devices have this problem.  Also, I use this iPhone all over with various wifi networks at hotels and starbucks and family's homes with no issues whatsoever.  It remembers and automatically reconnects with every wireless network except the one in my own house.
