My ipod touch isn't connecting to itunes and takes all night to fully charge what should i do?

my ipod isn't connecting to itunes but still manages to charge but it turns off while charging and takes all night what should i do?

Try:
- Reset the iPod. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
or
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
- Try another cable
- Try another charging source and computer.
- If iTunes sees the iPod restore the iPod.

  • New ipod touch won't connect, shows itunes and usb icons

My son just got a new ipod touch for his birthday. I have the latest version of itunes, and I have spent hours scouring the internet looking for a solution. Whether the thing is plugged into the computer or not, all it will do is show the usb cable icon and the itunes icon. When I plug it into the computer, my computer makes the noise that indicates that a device has plugged in, the ipod beeps one beep, and I get an error message from itunes that says that a rented movie from the ipod cannot be imported into itunes. Other than that, the computer, including itunes, doesn't acknowledge the existence of the ipod, not in the device manager, in itunes, in the itunes diagnostics tests, or anywhere else. In addition, the battery won't charge.
Also, I noticed that I do not have anything called "Apple Mobile Device Service," although I do have something called "Bonjour service." Are these the same thing or could this be the problem. Please HELP!

  • Ipod touch isn't acknowledged by itunes and receiving errors.

Pretty sure this has been posted before but all the problems sort of vary.
    I have a 2nd generation iPod touch.
When I connect to itunes (I have tried both with itunes open, and connecting and then opening itunes) a popup comes up with either "iTunes could not connect to this iPod because an unknown error occured (0xE8000001)"
    OR
"iTunes could not connect to the iPod because an invalid response was received from the device"
I have updated my itunes & ipod to the latest.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled, and restarted the computer.
    I have restarted my ipod.
I've worked on the support of the Mobile Device.
The my ipod tab isn't available to click on D:
Like there's no acknowledgment of it being connected.
I don't want know what else to try! I can't put anything new on my ipod it's killing me!
    Any help is appreciated (:

I seem to get the 0xe8000001 error fairly consistently on my iPhone 4 (iOS 4.01) the first time I plug it in after booting if I plug it into the computer while the phone is locked... if I unlock the phone so I'm looking at the home screen when I plug it in then that seems to work ok - and lets the phone be seen by iTunes after I've had the error - so it's as if the phone isn't being recognised correctly when it is locked.
It appears to be either a phone or usb driver issue rather than iTunes because when I get the error in iTunes the phone also fails to appear under My Computer in explorer.
Once the phone has been recognised successfully I seem to be able to unplug / replug it without any issues until the next reboot.

  • My iPod touch says Disabled: Connect to iTunes, and everytime I try it doesn't work. How do I fix this?

I changed my password, and without knowing it, I typed the wrong numbers, and now I don't know my password. I've tried to connect to iTunes, but it doesn't seem to work. It only brings up the USB cable needs to be connected to iTunes on my iPod screen. Does anyone know how to fix this, because it's frustrating.
    Thanks!!

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

  • My ipod touch won't connect to itunes and its says "unknown device."

My ipod touch is doing what I said already but its doing alot of other things too.. I noticed earlier today that it would bounce back and forth between the old formats of ipod touches when it is the newest generation out and it would go back to the original format. Now it won't even turn on or light up to show the lock screen like it done earlier when it had the brightness off completely and only be seen in a certain spot in external light of my surroundings. When I got home to plug it in, I was going to restart it and wipe it clean but then all of the sudden it wouldn't be read on ITunes or even my computer that would repeat "uknown device." over and over again every time I try to plug it in. I done this to my laptop and PC but I would get the same result every time.
What on earth should I do?? I already done troubleshooting and it didn't do anything at all but only did a small glimce of hope of showing up when i turned off the computer and back on. Shortly after that it would go back to being unreadable. I tried turning it on when I plugged it in too but it still wouldn't do anything but stay black.
PLEASE SOMEONE HELP! I don't know if I should go to an Apple to to fix it or do any other home methods.

  • Ipod Touch won't connect to Itunes, and is stuck on the connect to Itunes screen, can't do anything on it.

    Hey,
I bought my Ipod about 6 weeks ago, and after lending it to a friend to put some software on it, it's stuck at the screen with a usb cable then an arrow pointing to the Itunes logo, and when I connect it, Itunes doesn't pick it up, I'm sure it needs restoring, but I can't as Itunes doesn't pick it up. I've re-installed Itunes but still nothing.
Help would be greatly appreciated as I'm going to a deserted mountain in Ireland for a week in a couple of days, and will need it ! (:

Ok I yhink the different computer thing is working, I connected it to my mums and it's restoring, though I think her version of Itunes is quite old, and it's saying it's an Iphone, but it is restoring so far.  Thanks!

    - Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, foreign material and cracked or broken plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. It is free.
