My iPod Touch keeps disabling my passcode.  I have typed the correct passcode but it won't accept it.

My iPOD touch keeps disabling my passcode.  I have typed the correct passcode but it won't take.  It took it numerous times earlier in the day.

Maybe at one point, you may have miss typed the code when setting up the code. You'll have to factory reset your iTouch.
Try restoring in Recovery Mode:

If unsuccessful, try DFU mode:

After fully restored, set up with one of your back ups:

Hope this helps.

Place your device in recovery mode by:
Placing your device into recovery mode
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Note: If you see the screen pictured below, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then start with step 2 again.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button:
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
Use iTunes to restore the device.
    Then try

  • IPod Touch Keeps Disabling

    Hi all,
Ironically, this isn't about my iPod touch (I'm still rockin' a 5th Gen iPod Video) but at where I work, we have an iPod Touch model (3rd gen) demoed. However, it constantly keeps disabling after maybe a day or two. I set it up, and a few days later when I go back, it disables, requiring a connection to iTunes. (It has ben synced up with iTunes once before, so content is on it and it is assigned a Mac)
Now, this hasn't been a problem just now, for several years whenever we've tried to put an iPod Touch model out, the same thing happens after a little bit of time.
My question to you all is, what is causing the iPod to disable in the first place? I didn't put a passcode on it, and I heard it may be from too many improper logins. If this is the case, maybe someone else gave it a passcode. Is there some way I can password protect changing the password, but allow a no-passcode login?
Or again, am I way off and is something else disabling the iPod touch? Thanks!

Every few days?? Sounds like it simply needs to be recharged. Check the little battery symbol at the top right of the screen.
You can either plug it into the computer to recharge or get a wall charger.

  • I have an ipod touch and an iphone 4s.  Both use the same appleID but I want to give the ipod to my grandson with a new account.  How can I do that?

I have an ipod touch that I would like to give to my grandson.  The id is now also associated with my iphone 4s.  I would like to separate the two and give him his own account.  How do I do that?

Better yet, connect the iPod to your computer and restore it to factory settings, and then set it up as a new iPod.  Give it to your grandson and then download and install iTunes on a computer that he has access to.  When you install iTunes you can set him up with his own Apple ID, and you can set it up without using a credit card...

  • "Itunes can not connect to this Ipod. An unknown error occurred." I get this message when I plug my Ipod touch into my Imac. I have restored the Ipod and have the latest Itunes. I have tried different cables and a macbook.

I have an Ipod touch 8GB, an Imac and an apple laptop. I have had this Ipod for years and it has been synced at different times to my Imac and laptop. Recently the battery ran way down on my Ipod. I plugged it into my Imac. After it charge I had to restore it. After I restored it Itunes couldn't connect to it because, "An unknown error occurred". I tried to connect it to Itunes on my laptop and got the same error message. I have tried different USB cables. Since Itunes won't connect, I can't do another restore. I don't know what do try from here.
Some additional info that might be related to this. Just before this Ipod problem came up I crashed my hard disk on the Imac. I had to erase it and reload all my stuff (I was able to copy the contents to a hard drive connected to my laptop using the firewire - I couldn't use time machine because of the crashed HD.) My Imac has been restored to the latest Itunes - I am running OSX 10.6.8.

    Thanks for the help Ricky.
I did put my iPod into DFU and iTunes recognized it in restore mode. After restore I am back where I was before - iTunes cannot connect because of an unknown error.
I have installed Jailbreak to see if I can bypass itunes but haven't succeeded. I can't get my computer to recopgnize the iPod as a device.
I'll take it to a Genius bar next time I am in the area of one. Until then I'll probably continue to try hacks to get it connected.

    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.

My son's iPod touch is disabled.  I've tried to restore it twice but it won't work.  Any ideas?

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

  • IPOD TOUCH 4 DISABLED

    Hi:
Somehow my granddaughter has locked her iPod such that it simply shows the message "iPod is disabled". We have tried resetting, restarting, etc, all to no avail. When we try to reset using iTunes, we simply get the message that the iPod has been disabled and we need to enter the correct password, but there is no apparent way to enter a password. At this point I am not convinced she knows the correct password. Is there anything I can do to help get her restarted short of taking the iPod to an Apple support centre?

You'll need to connect it to the iTunes library you normally sync it with and restore it.  If iTunes asks you for this passcode before it will let you proceed, connect the iPod to iTunes in recovery mode instead using the instructions in this Apple support document.

If You Are Locked Out Or Have Forgotten Your Passcode or Just Need to Restore Your Device
      1. iTunes 10 for Mac- Update and restore software on iPod, iPhone, or iPad
      2. iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
      3. iOS- Understanding passcodes
If you have forgotten your Restrictions code, then follow the instructions
below but DO NOT restore any previous backup. If you do then you will
simply be restoring the old Restrictions code you have forgotten. This
same warning applies if you need to restore a clean system.
A Complete Guide to Restore or Recover Your iDevice (if You Forget Your Passcode)
If you need to restore your device or ff you cannot remember the passcode, then you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and re-sync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
Try restoring the iOS device if backing up and erasing all content and settings doesn't resolve the issue. Using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition.
Before restoring your iOS device, Apple recommends that you either sync with iTunes to transfer any purchases you have made, or back up new data (data acquired after your last sync). If you have movie rentals on the device, see iTunes Store movie rental usage rights in the United States before restoring.
Follow these steps to restore your device:
         1. Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes before attempting to update.
         2. Connect your device to your computer.
         3. Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
         4. Select the Summary tab.
         5. Select the Restore option.
         6. When prompted to back up your settings before restoring, select the Back Up
option (see in the image below). If you have just backed up the device, it is not
             necessary to create another.
         7. Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (as long as you've backed up,
you should not have to worry about restoring your iOS device).
         8. When the restore process has completed, the device restarts and displays the Apple
             logo while starting up:
After a restore, the iOS device displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen. For updating
to iOS 5 or later, follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. For earlier versions of
iOS, keep your device connected until the "Connect to iTunes" screen goes away or
              you see "iPhone is activated."
         9. The final step is to restore your device from a previous backup. If you do not have a
backup to restore, then restore as New.
If you are restoring to fix a forgotten Restrictions Code or as a New device, then skip Step 9 and restore as New.

  • My ipod Touch is disabled and it says connect to itunes, but it says on itunes you have to enter the passcode but i forgot mine

my ipod touch is disabled because i forgot my passcode i syncd it to itunes and now it says to enter a passcode but i dont have one.

You should be able to reset it and then put everything back from a backup in iTunes (one you hopefully got).
If you can't, I guess you could put it in DFU mode and try again...
    Good luck!
