My iPod touch - R.I.P after 5 days

The display on my Touch went white after a sync with itunes last night. Since then, it has turned into an expensive brick. I did nothing fancy with it.... simply plugged it to my Powerbook, removed a video and added a few songs - hit sync and waited. Once sync was done, it was ok for a few minutes then suddenly, it went belly up.
Charging it overnight to a wall AC charger didn't help. Restarting it gives me a faint Apple logo and nothing else. iTunes doesn't detect it anymore, so I can't even restore it.

I did the only thing I could do at this point - registered the device with Apple and ordered a replacement / return package from support.

Well... I sent it back to Apple support in the box they provided.
Reading the problems other people are having, I wouldn't rule out an issue with iTunes.
My plan when I get it back is to charge it, sync it only once with my collection and wait until iTunes is certified stable with iPod Touch before synching again.

I had been carefully checking blogs about which ipod touches had issues to make sure that mine was not part ok week 37. Nothing had gone wrong for the first week of use and i was pretty happy beyond a few small problems that i could live with. Like Freezing up when the battery was low, low wi fi connection, the touch screen not reacting to touch, and the fact that occasionally a song would just stop playing. But then about two days ago i turned on my touch aware that the battery was going low and was shocked when the screen continued to flash black to white, turing on and off about every 4 seconds. The power button is unresponsive, it will not let me reset is manually and now it does not register on my computer and when it is plug in the screen turns completely white then to pink and green ( Like when you computer is defragmenting). I cant do anything, its gone. about three days has gone by and im ready to return it, but i cant deside if i should completly return it and get a refund wait a month and get another, or try my luck with possibly getting another ipod with issues.

You are aware that since you have week 37, you might as well go exchange for a new one. I hear week 38 and 39 are okay, so if you do plan on exchanging it then get week 39. I have a week 39 and so far yet, I have not encountered any problems.

The iPod backup that iTunes makes does not inlcuded synced media like apps and music. Thes those iTunes are not restored to the iPod unless they are in the iTunes library.
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync all music and resync
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:

Place the iPod in recovery mode and then try to restore. For recovery mode see:

Try to reset your iPod and then deauthorize and reauthorize your computer, then sync the iPod again.
To reset the iPod touch just hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see an Apple logo appear.
You can deauthorize the computer from the iTunes Store menu.

Force close the App Store app and reset the iPad. No data will be lost when you reset the device.
In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Next, reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

If the Mail application will not launch, I would recommend processing any available updates on your Mac Pro and test launching Mail. If the issue persists, process a reinstall of Mavericks.

If you did not restore to factory defaults/new iPod do that. If yuo are still having problem then an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. You likely have a hardware problem.
You are not addressing Apple here. We are just users like yourself.

If you still have the apps on the iPod you can delete them from the computer and then transfer the apps from the iPod t the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
Next would be to look in your computer backups file for a version of the apps that works with the iOS on the iPod.
Otherwise you are out of luck.

My ipod touch stuck in settings after dowloading a free app

My ipod touch stucked in Settings after i downloaded instapic free application.
Pushing the big button but it doesnt go back to the menu.
Pushing the button at the back will not switch off the ipod.
I can use everything in Settings though..
Maybe this app got a virus in my ipod?? Really Hope not.. im just waiting for the battery to go off and put it on recharge and see if it works..
Looking forward to hearing from anybody with advices.

It's not a virus.
Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
If nothing above helped, delete the instapic app then restart the iPod. You can always re download the app.
No data is lost due to a reset.
